"He has a good point, Ashley."
"Uh huh, until Dad and I get into it as usual." Ashley replied with a sigh. "This has to be the longest we have gone without yelling at each other."
"Besides the hospital or before you were twelve? Possibly." her father nodded.
She looked at Isamu, "Let's check in and then decide, okay? Let me call home and make sure things are quiet before we give them the heads up."

Isamu nods, "very well," he says quietly.
He did not sound very happy about the prospect of her calling home. he felt she needed the rest, that he needed some too. He just knew that if they called home, there were probably problems that were going to need them. He wasn't happy about the idea of rushing home, but then again, tiger man was still running around the island.

At his response, Ashley gave Isamu a peculiar look before looking at her parents, "Can we have a moment alone?"
"Of course." Her parents left them and Ashley waited until they were out of earshot, "What the hell was that? You talk about wanting me to be happy, then turn around and argue with me wanting to go home. Funny way to show it." She folded her arms and was clearly annoyed.

Isamu looks at Ashley and sighs, "you know all I want is for you to be happy. Getting back to Miami means getting involved with whatever the team is working. It means being within reach of the mayor and whatever he has been planning. I know that that is our life and we will have to get back to it soon, but to rush back into the fray... well I would just like some time for us. For our family. The one we are starting together. It feels as if we just arrived and are already ready to head back."
Isamu pauses and looks at Ashley, "I love you Ashley and if you want to go back I will be by your side. However we are starting something new here. A new family. I would not mind some time to enjoy the feeling just us and your family."

"You're being selfish. Our friends are putting their lives at risk while we sit here, and I can't stomach that." Ashley sighed and moved close to Isamu. "I know all of this is new to you, but I've been in the game in Miami for quite a while. I can't turn my back on it and I can't let you either, not until I get far enough along that I'm in the way. You need to understand this is my life now, and a family will just be part of it

"I would not turn my back on our friends or our responsibilities. You should know that already," he takes a deep breath and then says, "you are right I was just thinking of myself," he says calmly. The moment and deep breath allowing him to regain his usual stoic manner. "I apologize. When do you wish to return my love," he asks offering her a smile. "As I said, I just want you to be happy," he says reaching up and moving a hair off her face tucking it behind her ear.

"I am happy. I think we are making a difference, or at least keeping things from getting worse. If you are right and the mayor is someone from your past, then we will face him together with our friends at our sides. Besides, if he is who you think, then it makes no difference where we are, he will come for us no matter where we are so some back up won't hurt." Ashley replied, looking into Isamu's eyes. "As long as we are together, I'm happy. Our return flight leaves tomorrow late morning, I figured it would be better before I have too much in my stomach." She forced a smile.

He says, "you are probably correct there. We at least know now that your stomach issues were not just the flight," he says smiling. He leans in and kisses her. "Let us get back to your family then, since we will not be with them for long."

Ashley nodded before she took Isamu's hand and let him lead her back into the house. The rest of the evening went as Isamu hoped and things remained civil between her and her parents, and even her brother dropped in for a bit and was hospitable, with Ashley being the first to want to retire for the evening after all she went through. Her parents agreed and it was called a night.
Next morning, by the time Ashley and Isamu started to rise, the house was filled with the smells of something wonderful. Ashley groaned, "Oh no, dad made loco moco to see us off. How can I eat that before we fly?" She rolled toward Is and tucked her head against his chest.
