In the stairway:
The comms panel is outsided the sealed stairway. Foreman and McKenna are trapped within. With tawfeek clearly driving like a rabid dog on a vespa. The GM is evil but has come to terms with it.
On the bridge: Jessica figures that the best thing to do is get an insulator and wedge them... or cut off the power to the conduit.
In engineering: Mensk's computer skills have got the computer to do a readout of the problem. While, mechanicially, the solution will take more consideration (a passing roll), it is clearly a well-known problem on ships called a "six flags power failure". Named after a long-gone amusement park in North America, a 6-flags failure occurs when the controls or wiring to the grav plates, or the plates themselves, start fluctuating, increasing or decreasing gravity across the ship or in isolated areas, creating a g-force sensation silimar to being on a rollar coaster.
However, as mentioned before, without knowing the actual problem (passing the electric/mechanical rolls needed), Mensk won't be able to identify and repair the cause.

Foreman having not noticed the comms panel before wasn't sure where it was. He had already gone where MJ indicated but couldn't find it in the stairwell. He turns back to McKenna and shrugs his shoulders, "where is it?"

Jessica reports to Tawfeek "We either need to put an insulator in here or temporarily cut off power to the conduit until it can be repaired." Jessica starts looking for anything that can be using as an insulator or, failing that, a way she can safely turn off the conduit.

On the bridge.
Tawfeek looked where Jessica was. "Find out what it is. If we can live without it for a while, cut the power to it. It's too close to the mainframe." He mumbled something in Arabic, which he rarely did unless it referred to someone being dragged in different directions across a bed something sharp and pointy for absolute stupidity.
"And not a word from you if we die because of this ship." He said as he sat back on the console and got ready to take it off autopilot. "You had your chance to object, got it?"

Jessica raises an eyebrow at Tawfeek at his last comment about having had her chance to object and smirks. Of course, he didn't show her the ship until after he'd bought it, but apparently that was a small fact that shouldn't get in the way of things. She turns back to the console and does her best to try to determine if it is safe to cut the power to that one section without cutting off power to more important sections or controls of the ship. "Outside the stairwell." McKenna said nervously, still holding on. " The other side of the door. Will it open?"

Foreman tries to pry the door open with his fingers. Not having any tools he doesn't put much hope in it opening, but he still tries putting as much strength as he can muster into the act.

"Flip, you're only going to hurt yourself." McKenna warned. " Is there another way to contact the bridge?"

Flip stops and then makes his way back to McKenna. "Umm, we can try banging and seeing if anyone hears us. Or we can hope whatever the problem is they are already working on it. Either way I think we're stuck in here for now."

"They won't hear us." McKenna said, sitting down yet holding on to the rail. She looked at Foreman," I'm scared Flip. how could this happen?"

Flip tries to be reassuring, "I know your scared. I'm a little scared too, but we're together. Together we can get through anything," he says putting his hand around her as he slumps down next to her.
"There is definitely something wrong. I've been on enough ships to know that much, but I'm not a mechanic, and I haven't even glanced at the blueprints of this ship. It could be the ship identified this section as having a problem, and thats why the doors are sealed. It could be something with the entire ship. This ship needs alot of work, it needed alot of work before we took off, but it got rushed into service. When this is over, I think I need to spend some time with Mensk and pick up some basic mechanics. I think on this ship thats a skill everyone might need."
As he talks Flip holds on to McKenna and the rail while looking around the stairwell trying to see if maybe he can discern what the problem is, he also tries to look for an access or maintenance panel. If he can get inside, maybe he can get the doors open, or they can crawl through to another section.

McKenna nodded, when an idea struck her, " There must be some sort of emergency system in the stairwell, right? if we set it off, the bridge will know there is a problem." She started to look around

"Look for an access panel. There should be a maintenance shaft or something around here."

On the stairwell: Perception rolls will help them decipher how it was assembled. Not that it will be easy. Because the stairs lurched in the opposite direction again (up to, effectively, 1.5 G), there is a -4 on perception rolls, and a -10% on all mobility related skills.
Using the rolls they have, Dome finds that the ship was constructed under the United Nations Starship Construction Guidelines (UNSCG) indicating that stairwells in small freighters were meant to be solid and air-proof, so prohibit atmospheric leaks from travelling between levels and areas of a ship. He could see a smoke-detector (or what passes for one, in the future) at the top of the stairs, but no call buttons - something clearly a violation of the guidelines. As for its condition, except for superficial problems, it was in good enough shape to be seaworthy and passed all the basic operating tests put against it. Since those tests do not have luxury liners in mind, a very basic ship can pass and still look shoddy.
On the bridge,
Unfortunately, the information for the wire's use seemed to have been burned off from an older arc. Jessica won't be able to tell from there. Though there was a manual kill-switch she could reach that uncoupled that wire and several others at the same time.

Jessica sighs as she sees the information was gone. Seeing the manual kill switch, she hopes she isn't cutting off power to life support as she switches it off and then waits with baited breath to see what happens.
