On the bridge...
Jessica could see the drive containing the security camera feeds already protruding from the server housing. However, it looked pretty clear that it was physically damaged. It also looked like the drive was bumping against a set of wiring.
On the stairway... The door didn't open. Though, the lights did flicker. In fact, Foreman and mcKenna suddenly found it difficult to climb said stairs, as if the ship had lurched upwards (for all intents and purposes, it would be like on an elevator travelling a hundred miles an hour).
In one of the engineering areas... Mensk got a flashing light. Also, the ship seemed to have begun the slowdown process without Mensk's help. The Captain must have programmed something into the system.

Foreman looks confused as the lights flicker but when they feel the ship lurch his face almost looks worried. He reaches out and puts and arm around McKenna's waist to try and steady her in case the ship lurches into a different direction. He looks for a hand hold first, then a comms panel.

Jessica calls Tawfeek over and points out what she had discovered. "This is what was causing the problems with the security footage." Jessica admits, "I'm not sure if i can fix it, but I'll give it a shot." She grins at Tawfeek, "Don't worry. If it's pretty obvious i can't do anything, I won't. We need Mensk though. He might have better luck fixing it if I can't."

Engineering:
Looking at the engine he frowned, "Now why are you acting up?" he asked it now expecting an answer. His mind worked through the obvious more direct problems first. looking to gauges to get an idea.
"Lets see what the system stats say. loss speed could power or fuel, electronics as well. Electronics board read outs...electronics read out..." he pondered. unless there hacker wanted this to happen.
"If I were sabotaging what I do...something not always check but that affects all systems..." he muttered looking over read outs.

McKenna grabbed the handrail with both hands to keep her balance. she couldn't hide the edge of fear in her voice," Flip, what's going on?"

"I don't know. Even if we had to take evasive action, if everything was running properly, we should hardly feel a thing. Unless we were hit, but we would feel that through the ship."
He can tell she is frightened and holds her a little tighter. He smiles reassuringly at her, "whatever it is we'll get through it, don't worry. Do you happen to know if there is a comm panel in this stairwell? I know it sounds stupid, but unless we can contact the bridge we won't know whats going on till we can get the door open."

" I don't... wait, didn't we pass one at the bottom of the stairwell?" She replied as she tried to think clearly.

In engineering:
Skill rolls, Mensk, to determine what the ship is telling him.
On the bridge: As Jessica moved to get the drive, she noticed a large arc of electricity hop from the conduit to the drive. Something' clearly wrong, but what? Skill rolls may tell!
On the stairs McKenna didn't have time to think about the comm panel, nor did Foreman get a chance to look, since the ship appeared to lurch the other way (the feeling now like the elevator going down, far, far too fast), so nearly causing the pair to fly off the stairs.
Also, if the pair want to find that dastardly comm panel, I needs perceptions, with -[dice=6], due to the sudden shift in the ship.[rand=4399022643295752356892341713098271554249177241028908236433253433]

Foreman tries to hold onto McKenna (arm around her waist, standing behind her) pulling her closer to him as he uses the handrail to pull them both closer to the wall. He looks in the direction Mckenna indicated to see if he could see a comms panel.
He says, "just hold on MJ we're going to be fine," while trying to keep his voice calm. With what he knows about star ships though, he knows there must be something seriously wrong for the ship to be lurching about like this. "Maybe the Captain had a little too much to drink," he says trying to make a joke and defuse some of the rising tension.

(OOC: For perception: D20 - whatever muy roll... so D20-3. There was mention of balances being rolled... due to the variegated movements, assume a Zero-G situation for movement and balance, to make the penalties simpler.)
The GM notes a negative relationship between McKenna's perception ability and the level of physical contact with foreman.
McKenna sees the comm panel... but it's not inside the stairwell.

" Not funny, FLip." McKenna replied as he held on to her. " Not so tight unless you really want me to... there, the comm panel. Go, call the bridge, I'll be okay here." She clung to the handrail just to make sure.

Jessica frowns curiously as she sees the large arc of electricity jump from the conduit to the drive. "That can't be good." she muses out loud with a smirk as she tries to determine what hte problem is and how it can be fixed.

Flip shrugs, "just trying to lighten the mood."
He looks off where she points, then back down at her, "do I have to let go," he asks. Then quickly adds, "before you say anything, thats not flirting. I'm being serious."
Looking up where she pointed again he says, "yeah I know I have to let go. Lets see if I can get over there before something else happens."
He releases MJ, and the hand rail and tries to hurry to get to the comms panel.
