Sapphire debates her next move, and almost thinks of the creature that shapechanges as he often had stared at her and her collar. But in the end at least for now decides that the attempt is in vain as this individual will not let her take the easy way.

Instead she turns and tries to focus on the task at hand. "I will not be affected at all by anything that this planet can throw at me if you think that will help at all."

"Your more than likely right. I wonder if you will affect yourself. For now, let us join the others and see what we should do."

He extends his arm so she walks with him. He walks towards Allan and as he approaches he says, "greetings friend, so what have you discovered about this place."

"I have discovered that Northeast will keep us in the shade." Allen says, climbing, a little clumsily, onto his camel. He had already packed away his heavy duster for the time being, and was down to a shirt, pants and that thing what arabs wear on their head. "And this may end up landing us on a trade route.

"So, taking Aki's advice, camels ho!" And he heads along the shade to the Northeast.

It took Dryzh four tries to mount one of the camels after he had his supplies packed, and even then he was very unsteady. " Dryzh not sure like smelly hump creature. Dryzh know have to ride or sun bake. But not.. he cut himself off as he struggled to keep his balance. " no, Dryzh not like at all!"

"We won't be going fast, Dryzh, if you prefer to walk." Allen said. He wasn't doing too much better, but wasn't complaining about it.

The camels follow their leader and any instructions Aki gives. They are adept at keeping to the shade and stubbornly resist any foolish attempts to the guide them anywhere else. The beasts stop occassionally to nibble on bits of grass. Sometimes they try to bite the other riders to move up the line, but they leave Aki and their own riders alone. The heat tops out at less than a hundred degrees farenheit. It might be 95 in the sun, with the harsh rays like a microwave. But by late afternoon the shadow of the cliff stretches out to give them a wide road. They make good time. The first evening is cool, and by midnight it is actually quite cold. In the morning the condensation collectors have gathered water. Not as much as all the people and camels drank the day before, but not alarmingly so. Just a little adjustment. A week later, a young man starts yelling at them in some obscure desert language. He is atop the cliff, and waves an arm as if they should come up.

Seeing the individual approach he asks, "Does any one understand what this lad is saying? I know several Languages, but he doesn't seem to be speaking any I recognize."

" Dryzh like shade. Not want go out if not have to." dryzh said watching the figure. " Might be trick."

[Renekin Skywalker]

Allen starts visually scanning. "Sapphire, you can scale the cliff the fastest, would it be possible to see what the lad is so excited about? Aki, how are the camels? Do they sense danger?"

"What do you mean Dryzh not like the sun." She almost seems to be taking some of the advice of the one before, that is before Allen speaks.

"On my way, sir!" And happy as can be she shoots up into the airflying to see what is going on.

Sapphire flips off the camel and lands on the ground. The planet's anti-magic properties strongly alter her powers.

Romidus reaches out to touch the young man's mind and see if he can piece together what he is trying to tell them by looking at his surface thoughts.

Allen cringes as she hits the ground. Dismounting to help her up, he apologises. "Sorry. If I had know your powers were so drained, I wouldn't have suggested it." Looking up and around, he wondered what was so important. Maybe the tide was coming in?

Romidus is able to read the young man's mind and tell them more. As soon as he contact's the other's mind he realizes the boy is not quite human. Under his threadbare clothing his skin is like a dry shark skin, and his feet and hands are reptilian, ending in claws.

The guy is a goatherder. He wants them to turn back from the trail to the deadlands, climb up the cliff and follow the caravan path. He thinks they are idiots and is waving them off to try to save them. He is hesitant to help as he is worried about what crazy people might do to his herd, but he doesn't want their deaths haunting him.

[Note: there are several points camels could make their way up the cliff face if they want to follow the lad's advice. Successful climb skill roll required to find a good one.]

Aki looks at Allen and shakes her head. 'not smell danger, just not like hot sun to travel. they try find right spot in line. should go climb up then? i could send Yumi up for best trail for camels. they try hard go up, but maybe when sun travels lower? when cooler, yes?'

*Yumi's head pops up holding and shaking some golden item from her bag and shakes it like it was food and then drops it into the bag and looks up at them. she chrips once and then hides in the bag again. Aki chuckles 'she say "too hot" . . '
