Dyson stepped and gave Lobo a wide eyed stare. He snapped out of his daze and turned to Sam. " I tried to raise base, but no one is answering. Something must be interfereing or we're too far away."
Many of the villagers are beginning to descend into the tunnels, but LEsa can still be heard on the far side of the vill calling for Daryn.
After a short quiet walk, the Shep and Marianna quickly reach the outskirts of Westvale.
Then the shelling started, beginning to tear the remains of Westvale to shreds.

Sam curses at the news Dyson gives her. Sighing, she says "Thanks. Keep trying whenever you get the chance."
As the shelling begins, Sam starts to run as she radios Ellie and Lobo "Get the rest of the villagers into the tunnels NOW and take cover!" and repeats the same message to Dyson. Finding Lesa, Sam grabs her arm and tells her "Get to the tunnels NOW!" When Lesa shows signs of hesitation, Sam yells "You're no good to Daryn if you're dead! I'll find him. GO! NOW!" Sam then shoves Lesa in the direction of the tunnels and helps usher the remaining villagers to the tunnels, trying to avoid being hit.

Lobo feels a surge through his body as he is pumped full of chemicals in response to the shelling, with a smile he keys his radio, "Yeah I'm on it." He then starts to run pushing toward the closest tunnel grabbing and pushing any stray villagers he finds toward the tunnel.

"Looks like someone else is calling for Gantry's son." Mary says to Shep before they get to Sam.
"Ma'am" Mary says in official tones. "I have retrieved Sargeant Trassk. I suggest, if the civilians are safely stored away, we contact the CS at base for assistance to at least ship out the men we were sent for."

As she continues to search for Daryn, Sam tells Mariana "We've been trying to do just that for the last little while. Either someone's been preventing us from reaching the base or we're too far out." Sam continues to push people in the direction of the tunnels as she searches the base.

Stepping way out of her bounds, Mary literally pulls Sam aside, taking a deep breath, she says, in low hushed tones. "It's more than that. These are our people. I've seen the transfer orders." She says. "They're coming after us because Sung wants that tunnel. They're after the entire underground railroad. And they are under orders to attack us. They're own people. And our concern has to remain our people, especially our wounded. They have geurilla fighters. We're only fish out of water. Ma'am." Mary finishes. Still in an aggressive position, knowing she's really overstepped her bounds.
"Oh." She adds, "That woman won't find her son. Gantry's already taken him."

Shock runs through Sam as she absorbs the news that Mariana just gave her. For a couple of seconds, she stands there, oblivious to the fire. Shaking her head, she thinks 'Focus on what's going on now. Deal with it later.'
Sam snarks at Mary "You might have noticed we're under attack right now, sgt, and I'm a little busy. Let's have this conversation later. Get the villagers into the tunnel ASAP!" Sam then turns around from Mary and yells at Shep "You too Sheppard! Get these people to safety now!" Sam then turns around and looks for any other villagers who may need help getting to the tunnels.

Shrugging at a close hit, Shepherd flinched and put his helmet on.. " You got it. " He turned on his heels, only to return with Dyson and three of the dbee children. Dyson shouted over another close hit that destroyed the remains of a house. " This looks like the last of them, sir." The children were all whimpering.
" I know a way out of this, LT." Shep said, " But I'm not sure you're gonna like it. I suggest we get out of this crudstorm before they learn to aim first and talk about it downstairs." Dyson was already leading two of the children, a Nymbyr girl and and a Noli toddler boy, to the tunnel entry hole. Shep keyed his radio. " Lobo, Ellie, time to get out of the rain. Grab any stragglers you see."

Lobo finishes his run with a few stragglers and pushes them down the hole that Shep and Dyson went down, then following himself.

"Yes Ma'am." Marianna says, and poceeds to finish the round up of the last stragglers. Wondering where all the men of the village really are... and suspects a mass grave. And she follows the rest of the squaqd to where they're hiding, making sure the other CS troops they were sent to rescue are there.

Sam nods and follows the others to the tunnel. She then asks Shep, "What is this plan of your and why am I not going to like it?"

Once everyone was underground, Shep had Rhys seal the tunnel access before responding to Sam's question. " I wanted to run this by Mar.... Sergeant Smith [he corrected himself, his eyes shifting to her for a moment before continuing] first because we have to break every rule in the book to do it and, well, most of you still have your careers to think about." He removed his helmet and sat on an empty crate. " but here goes. the mercs I got to help us, I convinced them to take the villagers in, at least temporarily and they agreed if we could get them to the cave they use for an entrance. It's not far, just down the creek a ways. " He looks at Marianna. " You remember where that little waterfall was, just before where we ran into the psi-stalkers? That was what, a hour's walk?" He turned his attention back to Sam. " Anyways, Janie said they'd have someone there to open the gate for us. " I think it's our best bet, LT."
