Book Two, Chapter Four: Tamer and Shadow

[Marcethus]

Steelfist checks his weapons and signals he's ready.

[dakota]

Khris didn't waste any time as he headed off towards his quarry. Once clear of the camp, he summoned Khamai to enhance his blending, the little chameleon perched on his shoulder as his shrouded form tried to loop around to flank the foursome, careful to stay far enough out of eyesight despite the camoflague.

Shroud arrives first and easily spots the four creatures. There is a massive rhino, a two foot long scorpion, a giant crane and a giant ant. The crane and the ant are well over ten feet tall.

Shroud can see two tamers, watching from the trees as the creatures practice in the clearing. Apparently they a rehearsing rudimentary fighting strategy.

The two tamers are obviously soldiers from the camp, and the way they are wearing their uniforms - shirts off and tied around their waist in the heat - makes it seem they are off duty. They still have assault rifles, grenades, and pistols though.

[Dome]

Looking out at the soldiers and their creatures he says in a whisper to Jeckle, "did everyone on this island get a creature or what?"

*Jeckle looks at Dante and shrugs* 'darned if i know. this makes how many now? i'll have to check out the cavern again to see how many 'blank' spaces there are'

*her voice is also low as she moves up to observe from a distance. she also wonders just 'how many' agents Tiger's father had sent to find the 'item' .. then wonders why she feels like she should be calling Kirin 'kirinamon' .. then shakes her head to focus on what is going on and wonders just where the other 2 people would be and shifts to IR vision on the glasses, then UV

[Dome]

Looking out again he whispers to her, "you think those two are controlling all 4 creatures, or is there someone else out there?"

[dakota]

" What the hell?" Khris muttered softly, drawing his Colt's and swapping them for his Dragunov. He sighted in on the two controlling the creatures. " Bosskitty, there's two of the locals involved. Somehow they've got four rings between them. can take them, but the whole camp's gonna hear me."

[Marcethus]

Steelfist Sights through the scope of his C1A1 Rifle to see better also using his enhanced sight.

[albatross]

"Wait for now, I want the rest of us in position before taking anybody out. Stay quiet and observe." Tiger responds to Kris as she moves a little ways away from Jeckle and Dante.

The four creatures seem to shift their attention towards Jeckle, Dante and Tiger.

Tiger mutters into her comm, "Its a trap. Don't move quite yet."

Sure enough, after a few more seconds, a couple more soldiers arrive behind Tiger, Jeckle, Dante, Steelfist, and Strongbow - Ionic having remained behind to guard the prisoner.

[Pleased you could join us Tiger,] One of the newcomers says in Chinese.

[We have much to discuss,] Tiger says calmly, trying to head off a confrontation.

The man smiles, [You can't change the situation, we know you'll come for us in the end. Kill her.] He moves to raise his assault rifle.

"Going loud," Tiger sighs softly into her comm, and she draws and shoots the assault rifle clean out of the man's hands. But the other man is fast, and he closes the distance and is in hand-to-hand range with Dante in no time.

"I want the soldiers alive," Tiger says grimly, even as she shoots at the man attacking Dante and the guy manages to dodge. "You can take down their creatures." She pulls her other pistol and begins shooting the now charging Rhino even as Pantera takes up a position in the tree branches.

*even as the second soldier moves to get Dante, Jeckle moves just as fast. she steps once then the leg flashes out and up and the roundhouse is executed flawlessly.

init - 18+2 = 20
strike - 14+4 = 18
damage - 3d6+1 = 12

*she intends to duck to the side and then 'tazer' this one in the back .. about the lower back where it joins the pelvis, thus bypassing possible armour protecting the ribs and chest

[Marcethus]

Steelfist levels his rifle to the nearest creature threatening a member of the team. Calling out softly "Glaurung its playtime."

As he aims carefully and fires at his target.

" Khris kept saying to himself " I knew we couldn't trust them," as he flicking the fire selector to automatic and he squeezed off a short burst at the giant ant ( 12 to str, (4d6x5) 85 dmg). He kept his shroud up, and the only thing visible to give him away were the muzzle flashes.

The guy attacking Dante doesn't even look at Jeckle's approach. As she kicks him, he kicks her hard simultaneously. He knew exactly where she was coming from and how without even glancing at her. Jeckle's kick hits the hardened flesh of an experienced martial artist. The axe kick he lands on Jeckle hits her right where her armor does the least good, a critical strike with barely any effort at all (26 damage).

Tiger and Steelfist are both blasting the Rhino, but it hardly seems fazed, as if they are shooting a tank. Glaurung appears and starts the clearing on fire in front of the charging Rhino, Ant and Crane.

Kris' shot at the Scorpion looks far more damaging, its hurt bad.

Strongbow uses her bow to shoot the giant Ant, but hitting it seems to have the same effect as the Rhino.

With the scorpion hurt bad, Khris swung his sights to his next target," Khamai, this is your thing. The scorpion is yours." Once the chameleon was off his shoulder, he lined up his shot and pulled another burst at the crane. (10 to hit, [4d6x5] 65dmg)

Steelfist seeing the ineffectiveness of his weapon reaims and targets a weakpoint in the armor of the Scorpion. (Strike: 20 (total modified not natural) Damage: 22)
