Book Two, Chapter Two: Find

Tiger moves closer to Shroud and thinks for a moment about giving him what she owes him from Century Station, but seeing the way he is holding himself, she decides he has his mind on other things.

She forces herself not to grin and says, "Actually, you get to pick, Kris. One of these creatures should be a favorite of yours. When you touch that ring, you will hear a name. Don't say it in here. When you get back to the surface, say the name and the creature will appear. You'll know you picked the right one because the ring will glow and you will hear the name." She looks around trying to decide which one Kris will pick.

Kris can see the rings of the white tiger and the stallion still glowing, though the unicorn, the dove and the phoenix are nowhere to be found unless they are some of the blank spaces.

[dakota]

Th-thanks it?" Khris stammered, trying to hold in his fears. He smirked slightly as he looked over the different creatures, " Guess now's a bloody poor time to tell you I'm a little claustrophobic, bosskitty. It'll give you and Patriot something to chuckle over dinner some night." He stopped in front of the creature he had always associated himself with, and didn't hesitate as he touched the ring beneath a chameleon. " Okay, that's it down here?" He asked, nervously.

"I would never laugh at anyone who faced their fears. Especially someone who was doing it to accomplish an important mission." Tiger folds out her hand as if to say, after you. "Thats it." Tiger confirms, "Lets go back. I'll follow you out."

[dakota]

Khris didn't look convinced, but he didn't argue when Tiger told him they could leave. " This is one time I won't be a gentleman," he gulped," that way you can make sure I don't freeze up on the way out." And with that, he started towards the surface.

[shiivster]

*Jeckle just strokes her creature's neck and says nothing as Shroud and Tiger finally emerge. but whatever was riding her back so hard for so long, seems to have relaxed its hold on her. she and the large unicorn creature move closer and then she looks about for the tracks it might leave.

'hope you don't leave tracks or other .. surprises ... '

[albatross]

Once back on the surface, Tiger moves a few paces into the trees and says calmly, "Pantera." A huge white tiger appears. Its eyes are blue, though they are a haunting pale blue and quite unlike Tiger's own eyes.

Tiger looks over at Strongbow and her dove, Jeckle and the unicorn and Ionic and his phoenix. "It seems these creatures confer powers upon their tamer. I can see the power of the dove extended to Strongbow.... and this Tiger lets me see like an eagle even in the dark and..." she closes her eyes "I can see using its eyes."

"The phoenix, the unicorn, the horse and the chameleon might have similar aspects. Try to discover what they are." She ignores the big cat which watches her intently and goes to look at the other creatures.

Indeed, while Jeckle doesn't feel any influx of power, she already knows that Kirin can fly. While Jeckle can't use that ability other than as a rider, she does feel a burst of creativity - as if she were smarter, and more capable.


O.O.C.:

Jeckle is +7% to all skills while Kirin is summoned.

*Jeckle just pats Kirin again and looks at Tiger and the others. 'well .. i get the sense of being able to fly .. with him of course .. but still its a wonderful feeling to know that .. i'm not .. alone now. its kinda a nice feeling in fact. about anything else? .. i'm not sure just yet'

*for now, she plans on keeping a part of the smarter feelings to herself just now.

[dakota]

His breathing becoming normal now that he was back on the surface, Khris started to relax. as he held the ring, he spoke the name "Khamai", and focused on the chameleon that appeared.

[Dome]

Once everyone is back on the surface Dante decides to call on the name of his creature. He says, "Nahar," then waits to see what happens.

Khamai is a two foot long chameleon, which is very difficult to see in the darkness. As soon as the chameleon appears, Kris notices the creatures extreme stealthiness - even staring at it the thing seems to blend in. It isn't just a chameleon, more like the patron saint of concealment.

Gradually, Kris realizes that his own level of sneakiness has somehow increased. Kris can see the patterns of awareness around him and knows just how to exploit them to an even greater degree than he did a few minutes ago. Even moving, no one is going to see either of them coming.

Tiger glances over at the two of them, but she says nothing and turns her attention back to the phoenix.

When Dante speaks Nahar's name, a big stallion appears - the same scale as the unicorn. The horse radiates stength, and Dante feels tougher just looking at it. Not necessarily tougher in a physical sense, but a deep reserve of inner strength that cannot be easily broken by force or by powers.


O.O.C.: While Khamai is active, both Kris and Khamai's prowl skills never fail. Both are +3 on initiative. While Nahar is active, both Nahar and Dante are +7 to all saves.

[dakota]

Khris had a hard time seeing Khamai, and it was more like he felt the chameleon's presense as he used his powers to to camoflague himeself as well. He didn;t bother to hide his amazement as he looked at the other's creatures, " Tigger, whot the bloody hell his going on?"

[albatross]

Tiger thinks hard for a moment, "These seem to be a good weapon for a thief. There isn't really any way to detect them when they aren't active... but they seem to be a fairly powerful familiar."

"Of course, powerful magic users could use spells in place of a creature like this - but I feel like these aren't the end result we are looking for. There must be a way to develop or combine them to increase their power."

"That could be our mission, and if it is it will be very hard to get it right. Which creature should we develop and how?" She frowns at the tiger and glances around at the other creatures. There wasn't going to be a quick easy answer that she could see.

[Dome]

Dante likes the feeling he has when the stallion is around he. Feels like he can face anything as long as Nahir is with him. He Wonders if this will affect his psychic abilities at all. At Tiger's statement he says, "Also we have to consider that the rings we didn't take out of there may also be part of the end result and without them we will never be able to complete the mission."

[shiivster]

*Jeckle has finally turned to face the others and examines the other creatures now that her attention can get past the need she had. her emptiness seems to be gone now.

'i don't know boss .. i'm content with my choice now. don't think i need another. might only be one per customer? they might have a clue tho. not sure what it would be, but it could be a reason.

[albatross]

Tiger nods at Dante's comment and listens carefully to what Jeckle has to say. "If its one per customer and we need a different one, we'll need more recruits," Tiger quips.

"I don't we will need too many more though, I'm sure the 'take em all' strategy has been tried." She smirks slightly, her father was through after all.

"I guess we will have to test them a little and see if they have the clues we need or if they have other abilities we can unlock. Any other ideas?" Tiger asks.
