Book Two, Chapter Two: Find

[shiivster]

Jeckle looks at Tiger and then nods 'yes ma'am .. '

*she reaches forward to touch the ring thats with the picture of what her favorite creature is and a smile touches the face even as the ring glows.

*she shakes her head finally and then steps back and blinks again 'alright .. ring wont move .. but .. something happened .. i heard a .. something said.

[albatross]

"What did it say?" Strongbow asks curiously.

The ring is still glowing even after Jeckle has touched it.

Tiger doesn't say anything, thinking quietly.

[dakota]

Even as Khris sat quietly in the dark, he found his mind wandering, to places it shouldn't go. He tried to chase them away, but his thoughts kept slipping back to her, stirring up a mix of emotions. Why now? he thought to himself and got up to move around a little bit, hoping that would help.

[shiivster]

' ... well .. i get the feeling i should repeat the word while touching the ring .. but i'm not sure what will happen. so .. just need to hear the word boss, and i'll do that next'

[albatross]

Tiger smiles, "Only one way to find out, it will either work or it won't. Give it a try." She stands casually, seemingly not worried.

[shiivster]

*Jeckle nods and steps close to the picture and then takes a hold on the ring again. she takes a deep breath with eyes closed and then opens the eyes to look at the picture. she then says the one word she heard, low but clearly. there is a sense of awe to the tone as she looks at the picture. as if remembering the good times [which she is] from the stories that were read to her

' .. Kirin .. '

As soon as Jeckle speaks the name, the ring disappears, the painting fades and a huge creature appears in the midst of the cave. The body is about the same size as the largest horses in the world, the wings can't extend inside the cave and the shimmering horn is lowered to avoid hitting the roof of the cavern. The winged unicorn stands calmly, looking intently at Jeckle with deep dark eyes.

Shroud senses the creatures appearance. It clearly isn't human, and yet he detects it almost the same way he would a meta. He senses latent power, ready to be unleashed.

"I'm guessing we aren't supposed to summon them inside the cave," Ionic deadpans, as he stands pressed against the wall to avoid leaning on the unicorn.

"Is the process reversible?" Strongbow asks, "Can you turn it back into a ring?" She was trying to think of a way to get the unicorn out of the cave without excavating.

Tiger looks at the creature curiously, still trying to figure out teh next step.

[dakota]

Khris took out his phone and texted to Tiger again, fearing the worst...

Picking something up down there besides the rest of you. Watch your backs

[shiivster]

' ... oh my ... so pretty ... you do exist ... '

*Jeckle has forgotten the others in the cavern with her .. and moves closer and tries to hug the strange creature. she's getting a sense of peace from the beast. its a feeling that she remembers. past hte pain of itching skin in the burn ward, the nurses voice continued to read quietly and offere water at times.

*Jeckle hides her head in the creatures neck and mane .. trying to hide the tears that fall

The creature and Jeckle seem to understand each other, although there is no telepathy or intelligible speech, more like how an owner would understand a dog - through tone and non-verbals.

Tiger texts back: I doubt it is dangerous. I may need you down here soon though. I'm going to send some of the others up as an experiment.

Tiger turns to the others. "Touch your favorite creatures ring and crawl to the surface. I agree with Ionic, these creatures weren't meant to be activated in here - some of the ones I recognize certainly wouldn't fit, and there is no way something else is going to fit in here unless its human sized or smaller. Hopefully, it will work to activate them from up there and we won't have to crawl back."

Ionic touches the ring of a phoenix, which glows after he touches it. Strongbow first touches a fish's ring, which doesn't react, then she touches a dove's ring, which glows. The two of them begin to make their way to the surface. Tiger touches the ring of a white tiger, after looking at is closely and comparing it to a more traditional looking tiger.

Once Strongbow and Ionic get to the surface, they spread out a little, though their chosen creatures are small. Ionic says, "Feng." The ring in the cave disappears and a Phoenix appears flying next to him.

Strongbow says, "Pacifica" and a dove appears on her shoulder. Both creatures are large, the dove is bigger than any dove the characters have seen, but not giant sized or anything.

[Dome]

Dante touches the ring of a stallion and makes his way out of the cave behind the others. He looks at the animals they have summoned but does not summon his yet. He waits for Tiger and Jeckle to come out of the tunnel.

Jeckle finally gets her emotions that are all mixed up all under control once again and looks at the beast*

'i hope that if i say your name again and if you vanish its not forever. but if it is, i still have the ring to remember you by. thank you .. ' *she looks at the eyes again and blinks* 'you are part unicorn .. can you teleport like they do? can you teleport to the surface if i think it really hard?'

*she hugs the beast's neck and with her fancy gift of a photographic memory, she thinks of a spot about 10 feet from the cave and looking at it .. giving the creature that seems like an old friend a chance to putt it out and go from there*

[off the wall thought and possible action .. dunno if it will work .. but what an impace if it does]

The unicorn smiles at Jeckle in horse fashion, baring its teeth, and gently shakes its head. It can't teleport apparently, but it does disappear. It doesn't turn into a ring again, it just flashes into light and is gone from sight.

Yet Jeckle can sense its presence, ready at her call. "Go up," Tiger grins, "I'm sure our new friend will appreciate the outdoors and a chance to stretch those wings. Just don't wander off, we still don't know what it is these things do."

"And tell Shroud to come down here, I think he will need one of these." Tiger looks around at the walls trying to decide which Kris would pick.

Out in the open air, their isn't much to indicate what the Phoenix might be good for. Famous for healing, Ionic doesn't seem inclined to hurt it as an experiment.

Strongbow's dove is a little easier to figure out. A strong sense amazement and awe fills anyone looking at it, and now anyone looking at Strongbow as well. Both are so striking in appearance, as if filled with an inner radiance and grace. In Century Station, Dante had heard of people being paralyzed with fear for a moment and unable to strike certain terrible foes. This is the exact opposite feeling - a positive emotion yet so strong its hard to imagine someone bringing themselves to attack them easily.

[shiivster]

*Jeckle looks about once, then nods and then heads out .. dragging her coat behind again. she doesn't want to get trapped, but she still makes it out without getting caught up..

*upon exiting she looks at Shroud and states 'bosslady wants you down there .. you need to find the one for yourself. this is part of the puzzle, after that we meet up here .. ' *then she moves off about 5 feet and looks about and calls for the strange creature. there is a sense of calm about Jeckle now, maybe its because she has something else to think or care about than her twin? who knows, she's not going to tell.

[dakota]

Khris gulped, and then nodded without speaking to Jeckle. He forced himself to crawl down slowly. Once he reached the bottom, he looked at Tiger, trying to hide the slight tremble in his voice at his chest pounded. " What do you need, Tiger?" There was no typical smile, or wisecracks as he tried to keep himself composed.
