After returning back to his home dimension (and it still felt odd for him to be thinking in those terms), Matt decided to finally have a nice normal evening out with Tabitha.
At least until her friend Gabrielle got involved.
And now the four of them sat in the booth at the Tavern on the Green: Matt, Tabitha, Gabrielle...and Foggy. Foggy had begged Matt to be Gabriel's date tonight and despite his misgivings, Matt finally yielded.

With the help from Mary Jane after Janet nearly drove her nuts, Tabitha had managed to come up an outfit of a simple black dress that stopped mis calf, with flat soled shoes a and a light jacket. She felt horribly overdressed, but the two women insisted that the place they were going was fairly formal, and was releived once they arrived and saw MJ had been right. It also took a bit of getting used to the perfume. To her, sitting at a table to eat was considered formal. When they arrived, she had nearly asked for two seperate tables. She had met Foggy and thought he was a nice guy, and Gaby was her best friend since they were kids, but the idea of putting them together she thought was a disaster.
She could not help but smirk slightly as the thought crossed her mind that at least she could escape back to the Avengers or even her uncle Mihkail if it was a catastrophe, Matt was stuck here with the mess..

Excited about the double date, Gabby has no trouble picking out her outfit. Gabrielle picks a skin tight red dress paired with a pair of red patent leather stiletto heels. Brushing her hair so it fell in cascading waves down her back, Gabby accessorizes her outfit with red leather gloves and bright red lipstick. Looking at herself in the mirror, Gabby blows a kiss to her relfection and says "Lookin' good, hot stuff!" As they wait for their waiter to take their order, Gabby turns to Tabitha. “You're so brave to be dating this guy!" Gabby says, talking about Matt. "Most of his girlfriends end up dead or insane!" Gabby pauses for a second before adding “Or both!” Looking genuinely concerned, Gabby says, “I sure hope that doesn’t happen to you!” Turning to Foggy, Gabrielle asks, "What the hell kind of name is Foggy? I'm hoping that's a nickname. What's your real name? Why do people call you that?"

Foggy's eyes were full "Deer in the headlights" locked on Gabby. "Uhm...oh...right...it's Franklin...Franklin Nelson." Foggy smiled. "it's a nickname Matt gave me when we were rooming at Columbia Law. I never quite understood why." Matt remembered why; Foggy's snoring drowned out any other ambient noise he superhearing could detect - it was a blessing and a curse - it prevented him from hearing anything dangerous, but once he adjusted to it, it allowed him a rather peaceful sleep. To Matt's supersenses, Foggy's snoring was a "Foghorn." Everyone could hear the flash of cameras, shouted questions, and footsteps as the main entrance opened, and another figure entered the restaurant: Norman Osborn, candidate for the US Senate. "Please, please. I'll get to your questions shortly! Thank you for your time!" He waved off the crowd as he went towards a private booth.

Matt could not "see" the way the women were dressed, although he could tell they were in dresses the complete effect was lost on him but by the conversation change in the restaurant as they entered he could tell they were really something to behold. Usually bothered by perfume because of his sense of smell, he could tell Tabitha had been delicate with it and her scent was accentuated by the perfume. He knew he was with a real prize.
Sitting and waiting to order, Matt raises an eyebrow as Gabby talks to Tabby about him. He says to Tabby, "she knows I can hear her right? I mean I'm blind, not deaf."
Remembering Foggy's nicknames origin, he says with a smile, "perhaps one day you will be able to figure out his nickname on your own. It would be no fund if I just tell you."
As he hears the doors open he stops to listen and see if he can identify the man coming into the restaurant now.

"Oh, she knows you can hear her. That's the whole point, everyone can hear Gabby." She said, the last of her statement through gritted teeth as she reach out and kicked Gabby in the shin. She leaned in so she could lower her voice as she spoke to Gabrielle, "Don't do this. Please? I really like Matt. Don't interfere."
At the same time, she slipped her hand into Matt's and was about to say something when the new figure entered the restaurant, "Recognize that guy? Seems to be stirring a fuss."

When Foggy answers Gabby’s questions about his nickname, Gabby shrugs and says, “I like Franklin better. I’m going to call you that instead.” Gabby beams at Foggy and says, “You’re cute. I’m glad we met.”
When Matt responds, Gabby doesn’t even try to hide the fact that she’s rolling her eyes at Matt as she replies, “Duh and/or hello! I know the difference between being deaf and being blind.” Gabby shrugs. “Besides, I told you,” she reminds Matt, “I know ALLLLLLL about you!”
Narrowing her eyes at Tabitha when Tabitha kicks her under the table, Gabby kicks Tabitha back in the shin with the pointy toe of her heel. Leaning over to Tabitha, Gabby whispers, "Don't interfere!?! Do you know about this guy's track record!?! I'm trying to keep you alive and sane!" Shaking her head, Gabby replies in a whisper, “Like this guy all you want, but if you get hurt because of him, he’ll regret it.” Tabitha would remember how protective Gabby was of the few people she cared about and this wasn’t an idle threat.
When Tabitha asks if anyone recognizes the man, it’s clear Gabby does as an excited look comes over her face and she says, “Of course I do! It’s Willem Dafoe, the actor! OHMIGOD! This is so exciting!” Leaning in toward Foggy, Gabby says, “I have to get his autograph!”

"You can call me whatever you like." Foggy smiles at Gabby. "You're smart, and funny and pretty, and it's great being out with a girl like you." Foggy was about to say something to Matt when Osborn walked in and Matt could smell his friend's apprehension; after all, Matt had dated Liz Allan, Norman's daughter in law and the mother of Norman's only grandchild, also named Norman. "Actually, Gabrielle, that's Norman Osborn - head of Osborn Industries? Running for Senate?" Foggy let out a chuckle. It died in his throat and Matt knew why. He could hear Norman settling into the far booth, and he heard the woman's voice across the booth address Osborn. "Hello Norman, you look well this evening." Matt and Foggy's one-time boss and partner, Rosalind Sharpe.

DD smiles and reaches out picking up his glass (of whatever it is). He thinks, 'she knows all about me, and thinks that whispering will keep the conversation private. This one is a genius.'"I appreciate your concern for you friend Gabby, but I wouldn't do anything to hurt her or put her in harms way. I mean she does that well enough on her own, but if that happens I would make sure I do everything I can to help her. I'd go to the ends of the earth, this one, or a different one," he says shrugging obviously referring to their most recent adventure. Matt says to Foggy, "you going to be ok Foggy?" {OOC: I know little of comic details, so Had to look up Sharpe, found this: www.comicvine.com/rosalind-sharpe/4005-14958/ is this accurate enough for this thread?}

"Ow!" Tabitha winced as she was kicked back. "Dammit, I don't heal like you! I don't care about his track record, that's the past. Maybe it's perfect if you remember how many times I tried to get myself killedi on my own and got out of it. And if something does happen to me, I hope you take it out on whoever is responsible and not Matt," She snapped back be fore smiling at Matt's words.
She looked across the table at Foggy, "I should have warned you she a little eccentric." She smirked, but it faded quickly as Foggy told them who it was, "Norman Osbourn? Running for senator? You're not serious, are you? But he's...," she stopped short and glanced towards Matt. "Should we be here with him and his date here?"

Foggy, clearly frustrated turns to Tabitha and Matt. "Don't talk about me like I'm not here. I think I've got the right to argue my own case, if it pleases the court."
"The defense would first point out to the prosecution." He directs to Matt icily. "That the defendant, one Gabrielle, is my date this night, and I find her sincerity a refreshing change from the usual patronizing. Eccentricities are not a concern from where the defense stands."
He clears his throat. "Second, the defense can provide and cite evidence of the prosecution's failure time and again to heed counsel, and that the prosecution is therefore in clear violation if he believes that he can provide counsel on relationships. One might even argue hypocrisy."
"Third, the prosecution and co-chair will not project their own matters onto the defense or the defendant. That is for the prosecution and his co-chair to deal with on their own time. The defense is here to enjoy a date, even with all the extenuating circumstances. Therefore it is the motion of the defense to dismiss any further charges against the defendant and for everyone to enjoy their night out without further accusation or provocation."
Matt could hear a second story window breaking, and a large, powerful heartbeat pulsing slowly - a hunter seeking out its prey...

Tabitha could not hide a confused expression, "I have not idea what any of that means. " She smirked. "Foggy, I'm not trying to scare you off, Gaby is my best friend. Like a sister growing up, but we have our quirks. This is behaving for us." She looked at Gabrielle to confirm what she had said.

A thousand retorts run through Gabby's mind as she absorbs what DoucheDevil and Tabitha were saying to her. Gabby is about to say all that and more to both Matt and Tabitha when Foggy interjects. Gabby is surprised by what he says and, when he's done, she's practically beaming at him, surprisingly quiet for a few seconds. Tabitha knows Gabby well enough to know that that Gabby is rarely speechless. In fact, she can count the number of times Gabby didn't have a dozen things to say on one hand and still have fingers left over. The moment doesn’t last very long though as Gabby squees and tells Foggy, “That’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever said about me!” She then leans over and gives Foggy a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you.” Gabby smiles at Foggy happily.
When Tabitha admits that she doesn't understand everything that Foggy said, Gabby replies, "From what I gathered, it means shut your pie holes and quit being mean to Gabby!" Gabby turns to Foggy and nods with a satisfied smile on her face, obviously proud to have summed up what Foggy said in one sentence. When Tabitha explains that she and Gabby were long time childhood friends, Gabby shrugs and says, “Well, according to her last couple of posts in this thread, we are!” Grinning, she adds, “You’d think she’d have remembered the basic rule of ‘If you kick Gabby, she’s going to kick you twice as hard!’ though.”

"You're forgetting who you're taking to. Normally I'd make sure you miss and kick the chair and then laugh at you." Tabitha scoffed back. " So we're back to your crazy 'we're all characters in a choose you own adventure book", are we?" She made finger quotes as she teased. "If we aren't long times friends, why did you get so jealous when I introduced you to Tally, hmm?" She took a drink of water, expecting a tirade in response. "I'm not being mean, so stop yelling at me before you get us kicked out."

DD listens to Foggy. He says, "I was referring to Ms. Sharpe being here," he says thumbing over his shoulder, "not our dates. Gabby, is looking out for Tabby. While what she is saying may not be the most comfortable, she isn't wrong and I don't think she is saying these things out of spite, and I don't hold anything against her. She's looking out for her friend, like I was trying to do." After he says that he pauses and tries to focus on the sound he has heard to identify where it is and who it may be. According to the website i linked earlier, www.comicvine.com/rosalind-sharpe/4005-14958/ Sharpe is Foggy's mom.
