*the pain of the mind splintering and cracking a little more, heralded by the electrical field about her, causes Maria to arch backwards in Dexy's hold the voice screaming in terror and pain. the convulsions and then the strange silence that follows the heart rending scream echoes loudly for a brief second, then Maria slides limply thru the arms and tenticals holding her as the bones feel utterly limp and without solidity.
*slumping heavily into Dexy's hold, Maria is only aware that someone other than total strangers knows what its like to not fully recall the past. then whispers quietly a few words into dexy's ear .. then nothing as the blackness envelopes her mind. the words meant only for the scientists by fellow scientists, are remembered. finally the start of the recalled whispers are released to someone that is deemed trusted, and who might understand some more of what it all means.
*the mind mercifully shuts down and doesn't want to re-emerge just now. the pain and terror is too strong. the memories of the change from normal little girl to the 'freak' she is now, and HOW it all happened are too much for the mind. the only recourse, is to flee the memories and hide in the mind. the only sound from Maria's lips now are the whimpers of a terrified child begging for help and to be let out of the darkness.

Alice is jolted awake as she feels herself being lifted up and carried somewhere. The pain is still overwhelming, but in the back of her mind, Alice realizes that it's starting to fade a little.
"I feel numb. The pain's starting to fade." She says in a whistful voice "That's a good sign, right?"
Alice whimpers a bit as her body starts to descend into shock and she starts shivering. "I'm cold, Felicia" she says in a tiny voice. She feels herself being layed on the ground and the urgent voices start to wash over her as the blackness starts to overwhelm her.

Stopping dead at [EDIT]Alice's[/EDIT] words, William wheels, and literally pulls ashley down to the ground. "You apply pressure to the wound, and you do not let up until a medically trained professional relieves you." He says in a very stern voice. Turning back to Alice, he says, in a soft, voice. "Don't fall asleep, now. Don't want you parents to find out about this too soon, right? Come on Alice." He says. "I'm going to get one of the aids from in the clinic to help us." And he turns and heads into the clinic.

*remains unaware of everything else about her .. other than the random word or small fractioned phrase in french from time to time amid the small pleading voice begging for release and 'mommy? it hurts ... ' .. Maria remains still and unmoving. the memories trying to resurface more and more as she sinks further from the present

" No.......... I.... I didn't... " Felicia replied to Will, visibly shaken and rubbing her stomach without thinking.
Ashley held the wound as Will directed, trying to hide how upset she was. " You'll be okay, Allie. Will's getting help. C'mon, talk to me. Now's as good a time to tell me all the steamy details about you and Jas." She smiled, but it was easy to tell it was forced.
The nursing assistant Will had met earlier met him in the door way. " What happened? We heard a commotion."
Dexy jostled Maria in her arms. " C'mon Sparky, snap out of it, you're getting heavy." Despite Wil's intended warning, Dexy walked around the corner of the building, and when she saw what was happening, muttered. " Oh, shi..."

"She's been shot. Get her inside now. And call the police." William answers.
Without waiting for an answer, he directs the aid the check and make sure Alice can be moved. If he were any less composed, he'ld be flitting around like an anxious undersexed hummingbird on speed that just saw another hummingbird of the opposite gender go into heat.

The nursing aid gets an alarmed look on his face as he kneels down next to Alice. He gets Ashley to move her hands so he can check the seriousness of the wound. After a second, he looks confused and looks up at Will and says "What are you talking about? This girl doesn't look like she's been shot at all!" He moves aside and shows Will Alice's stomach and Will can see that despite the hole in her shirt, her stomach is completly unblemished.
Alice, for her part, is drifting in and out of unconsciousness as she faintly hears Ashley's joke. "Not much to tell," she says faintly, before she falls unconcious due to the blood loss she's experienced.

William nearly shoves people out of the way. "Well... she's still in shock." He says, quickly, recovering from his own state of suprise, lifting her up, and carrying to the door he barks at the aid. "Open it now! She's still got blood loss."
He takes no notice of Maria or Dex at the moment, since neither really seemed to be anything more than confused.

" I don't get it? I know she was hurt." Ashley said in confusion, looking at the blood on her hands as Will barged passed her. The assisstant led the way to an examining room. " Put her here." He directed and then stepped up and began examining her. He paused when he found the hole Alice's bloodied shirt and rechecked her stomach. Then he asked . " I don't mean this in a rude way, but is she a norm?"

William looks at the aid with a "are you really so stupid that you need to ask me that?" look. BUt answers, in a calm, but sarcastic, voice. "No. She's English."

Alice stirs a bit as the doctor examines and whimpers in pain. She mumbles "Jason.. it hurts. make it stop." Her face grimaces in pain and she fall unconscious once again.

" There's no need to get snarky." the assisstant snapped. " But I don't see anything wrong here other than she's physically exhausted. She can rest here for a while. I'll be back in a bit."
Felicia walked in as the assistant left, asking from behind Will . " Is she gonna be okay?"

"She'll be fine." William says after a while, though still feeling around on the gun-shaped hole in Alice's shirt. "She has healing abilities, like mine. It's new though. No-one in her family ever... ever had it." He withdraws he hand, looking at her curiously. "Though, I wonder if she knew." William goes silent, looking at Alice's face. Looking to make sure about geneological traits, worry flashing across his brow.

Alice wakes up a few moments later, looking a bit confused and disorientated. She sees William looking worried and asks weakly "What's going on? Am I ok? Was I badly hurt?" She feels her stomach and is suprised to find no bandage. Confusion come over her face as she asks "Didn't I get hurt? I don't understand why there's no bandage."
