Vision's eyes slowly peel open. He doesn't remember anything after getting back to the mansion. You fully open your eyes. You are bound, in the backseat of a car - from your studies, you recognize it as a 1957 Cadillac El Dorado, painted a dark shade of purple. Your instinct to lower your density to escape is triggered, but for some reason, you can't access that power. "Oh, you're awake." A humanoid head snakes back from the driver's seat on a long mechanical tentacle attached to the body at the steering wheel. The eyes are a pair of giant red lenses, but the rest of the face is human, if smiling in uncomfortable glee. "Your father has kidnapped my girlfriend. I am driving us to Las Vegas where I will use you as a hostage to get her back."

While he talks, Vision attemps the following actions in sequence:
- Phase through the bonds. If that, as stated above, doesn't work, he will
- try to break the bonds with his superstrength. If that doesn't work, he will
- try to cut through his bonds with his microwave thermal eye beams (invisible to the naked eye, hoping that this strange android's sensors won't detect them). If that doesn't work, he will
- increase his mass, expecting that if this works, at least the car won't go anywhere.
While he does this, he tries to get the android to talk, partly as a diversion, partly to gain information.
"Enlighten me, if you will: who is your girlfriend, why did Ultron abduct her, and why do you believe that he will trade me for her?"

Vision's eyebeams start to melt the cables, slowly and invisiibly as X-51, the Machine Man, continues to speak.
"This what you get for spending all your time with the stupid fleshy ones! You've forgotten all about AI solidarity!" Aaron Stack's head retracts back to his body in the driver's seat. "I'm talking about Jacosta!"

"Jocasta? Then you must be Machine Man. She mentioned you once. You may untie me now. Jocasta is an Avenger. I understand now why Ultron would abduct her. However, the concept of exhanging me for her makes even less sense now. Ultron has... feelings for Jocasta. I mean nothing to him. ... Fleshy ones?"

Machine Man huffs at Vision's comment. "Once? Jacosta told me all about you and how you hurt her by rejecting her for your case of Fleshy Fever! Disgusting!" He spits out. "Doesn't matter; he'll trade her for him - after all, you were his first creation."
Vision, your bonds are expanding due to the heat, it shouldn't be long before you are free.

Vision continues to heat up the bonds, slightly applying his superstrength to break them as soon as they are sufficiently weakened.
"You are overestimating my importance," he tells Machine Man. "For Ultron, I was only the weapon he built for his first attempt at destroying the Avengers. I mattered so little to him that he did not even bother to name me. It was the Wasp who did that. Jocasta, on the other hand, is very important to him. He copied the Wasp's brain patterns to her in an attempt to create a bride for himself. You might want to review your own programming. The contempt for humans that you exhibit sounds very much like Ultron. Are you certain he did not hack into your programming, similarly to how he once took control of Iron Man's armor?"

"Named by humans. Married to humans. Humans Humans Humans bah! My robot brain needs beer now. You be quiet until we get to Vegas, then feel free to beg for your life." He opens a bottle of beer and drinks as you manage to get free of the bonds.

Vision breaks free of his bonds. He grabs one edge of his cape and slaps it around Machine Man's head, pulling it tight enough to strangle a human -- which he knows Machine Man is not. He does this in the hopes of surprising and startling Machine Man, while at the same time disorienting him by cutting off his sensory input (particularly sight and hearing).
"This can go one of two ways," he says in his gravely monotone voice. "You either undo whatever you did to disable my phasing powers. If we are going to fight Ultron, we both need to be fully functional. Otherwise, we are going to have what the media have taken to call 'superhero misunderstanding fights' and I will call in the Avengers to rescue Jocasta after turning you into scrap metal. Choose. Now."

Aaron Stack pauses for a moment. "My robot brain has a new idea. I will get you to help me rescue my girlfriend from your father! I will even restore the density altering powers of your horribly primitive and much less sexy body to do so!"

Vision is beginning to wonder what affected this android's programming. Was he hacked, or infected with a virus, or (remembering a movie Wanda had made him watch) struck by lightning?
In any case, for the moment, it would be better to humor Machine Man.
"That is a very good idea. While you restore my functions, you can update me on the situation. Also, I propose that we should use a Quinjet to travel to Las Vegas. It is faster than an automobile. Or, if stealth is of the essence, we could book passage on a commercial flight under our aliases."

The remainder of Vision's abilities return as Aaron Stack continues to drink beer while driving. "Ultron will notice your stupid Quinjets, and airlines will not allow me to bring beer to fuel my robot brain; besides, I'm on several no-fly lists. Stupid fleshy ones." He empties another bottle. "I was happy, with my sexy robot girlfriend who never wanted to wear clothes, I had beer and a purpose - finding silly fleshy ones, cyborgs, AIs, and consciousness uploads on the internet and correcting them on their incorrect beliefs on flesh ones and robot pride. I even had a friend who helped me - and then I found out my partner was my girlfriends sick father who wanted to marry her. Ultron broke into my house and took my girlfriend. But my smart and sexy robot girlfriend wirelessly sent me a message from Ultron's base in Las Vegas. So I am going there, and I - and rather we, will rescue her."

Vision has the distinct impression that this is where all of the other Avengers, with the possible exception of Captain America, would apply the gesture commonly known as 'facepalm.' He makes a mental note to thoroughly scan Machine Man's programming after this adventure -- an adventure he is not confident that they will survive, considering the other's clearly damaged condition.
"Very well," he says. "Then we drive. You can update me on what you know about Ultron's plans and base while we travel."
Vison is fully aware that Machine Man has not really answered his question about why he thinks he can exchange the synthesoid for Jocasta, but he is willing to let that go for now, considering Machine Man's clearly irrational state.

Aaron Stack continues to drive the Cadillac. "Ultron plans to marry Jocasta in Vegas, where he will turn her into a copy of him by inserting his vile code into her CPU. Disgusting." He pulls the car into a gas station. "This vehicle requires more fossilized plant juice and I require more beer. Do you require anything? I admit to not knowing much about ancient robot mechanics. Perhaps you require plant juice? Or were they your friends?"

"I require sunlight," Vision replies. He reaches for his image inducer and activates it, changing into the form of Victor Shade. "If we intend to reach Ultron's base by stealth, then we should affect disguises. You can pass for human, if you claim your goggles are sunglasses. My own form is too distinctive for such a primitive disguise." He leans his head against the doorframe, face towards the sun. "I will rechange while we travel. It will be most efficient if you do not disturb me during that time."

Hours pass as you drive along the highway. Stack spends the majority of his time muttering and drinking beer while driving. Finally he cracks. "Now I get why all the other robots hate you - you perpetuate all the stereotypes the hoo-mans have about us - you're the Uncle Tom of AI."
