Yonette sits back on her heels and wipes the palms on the pants of her outfit. <Chinese> "They have others dressed like coming now? i will stand and wait near the stone walls. i do not wish others to fear me and kill me" *she stands up and picks up the bundle of cloth and other things and the now closed First aid kit. she wants Rex to know where she'll be waiting and will stay there unless told otherwise. (Dark Rider)
You pull into your ranch house on the outskirts of Central, taking care as always to hide your vehicle.
"Damn cycle's too loud. Entire calvary would have had you in the day." A familiar voice grunts as an elderly man tends to the stables. "Don't dawdle, tell me what happened tonight before you pass out. I might even have something for you to eat if you don't bore me."
(Rex, Yonette, and Avery)
Rex recognizes that the other man, Avery, is using some highly-attuned trance state, like you've seen so-called mystics and medicene men use in other cultures when they've claimed to have powers. It's a concentration state not unlike how Rex himself meditates in.
Yonette you manage to patch up the officers - they'll live.
Avery, The Porthouse is a speakeasy you know of in town. Caters to a lot of the seedier crowd, as well as the Chinese gangs.
(Lex and Viv)
You manage to get back to the bakery as the cops arrive. Lex, your sister looks concerned.

Letting Vivian in first, Lex pulled the door shut after making sure they weren't being followed for getting involved. He turned and looked his sister in the face and gave her one of his 'you don't want to know' smirks. " It's okay sis, but things might be a little slow this morning until they get things cleaned up out there. That would give us chance to get ahead with that order to get done up."

The Dark Rider takes off the hat and mask, revealing the face of Matt Cannon. He smiles at his grandfather, Caleb, as he takes out the Sheriff's badge and tosses it at the old man.
"Not much of a night," he claims nonchalantly. "The only thing worth noting was that I busted a couple of Klansmen, one of whom turned out to be the Sheriff. I didn't even have to shoot anyone. I expect it will be all over the afternoon editions."
Taking his grandfather's look as encouragement to continue, Matt continues his story in greater detail while he takes off the rest of the black outfit.

Makes a mental note about that, and with the officer stabilized, nods, speaking in fluent Chinese as he approaches Yonette. "Thank you for helping. Those others are police officers, law enforcement of the area."

*her eyes lower as Rex approaches and gets quieter. <Chinese> 'hai. thank you for instructions. i am pleased they will survive. shall i step further away?'
*her items are held firmly in hand and her eyes study the ground where his shoes are. she doesn't look up but waits quietly. her place is secure only if he remains 'pleased' with her work

"Hm..."
After a few moments of fruitless searching, Avery turns and heads towards Rex and Yonette.
"Excuse me, miss. Mind if I ask you a few questions? I'm detective Avery, just trying to figure how what happened here. Just looking for eye witness information, y'know?"
He readies his notepad.
"First off, what's your name and place of residence? Did you see anything? Have any family? Do you know if they saw anything?"

"Ahh Crap" Caleb thinks as he hears the engine about to go.
He'll try and get a second fear spell off to try and nail the driver again and perhaps get the guy with the bow to to into further conniptions and maybe crash the car. Given that the engine is failing, if he can do so without killing anyone, he'll try and drive the truck through an alleyway and see if he can cut off the car, or at least hopefully catch up to it as it loses control, since he certainly isn't going to win a race with it, and with his engine dying he's got to do something quick.
As a note, he's not planning on taking the alleyway at full speed or anything (he doesn't want to die or kill anyone), the idea is to cut this car off without taking that kind of risk. If that's not possible and/or the second fear spell doesn't have a result, he's pretty much out of the running for the moment it seems. If there are no likely alleys or there are people in all of them, then it all comes down to spell.

(Dark Rider)
"Corrupt Sheriff. That's not nuthin I reckon. Alright, go get some chow and bunk out. I'll get one of the hands to pick up your workload, but don't get used to it. Now git!"
(Rex, Yonette, and Avery)
Rex and Yonette are surprised to see themselves being questioned by a Private Investigator (Avery). All of you can hear the sounds of more police cars approaching, as well as a truck turning into an alley.
(Scarecrow)
Your engine is fading as the car moves out of range for the spell, you duck into the alley way, but you'll have to make a drive roll at -25% due to the sharp turn you'll have to make to cut it off in time.
(Lex and Viv)
Lex's sister grimaces; she's clearly not amused by Lex's black humor. She wasn't with their father either, as Lex recalls.

Lex grinned," Hey, it could have been worse. I could have suggested we put donuts on display outside to see how long it takes the cops to plow in and clean us out."

"Workload," Matt grumbles with a smile. "This isn't what I signed up for, you know. I thought it'd be more like Douglas Fairbanks in that moving picture, Zorro. Fighting injustice at night and pretending to be a leisurely playboy by day."
He ducks his grandfather's swipe and heads off to wash, eat and catch up on some sleep.

Yonette freezes in place and is silent as she translates to her native tongue before attempting to respond. she looks startled, starteled enough to flinch and look up at Avery first, then at her employer.
the eyes lower once again and quietly comments quickly, 'no speakie no speakie' *she hopes that will be enough to get her out of hte 'deer in the headlight' moment

Rex smiles, "I'm Rex Cranston, and this is my servant Yonette. She doesn't speak English very well. We're currently residing in the penthouse of the building just behind us. As for family, none that could've seen anything. As for what we saw, police cars pursuing some fancy car that Jules Vern should have written about. We did our best to help the injured officers."
