"This crime fighting thing is killing me" Caleb thinks as he gets dressed and heads downstairs to make a sandwich and some coffee. He'll put on the radio while he eats, and if nothing paticularly interesting is on he'll take a ride down to Chinatown in the daytime. He doubts many people there will talk to him, but seeing the place in the daytime might help him think and get a perspective on how to find this killer.

You see the two men are banged up but good, and you manage to make a note of the car's direction.

Vivian reaches the bakery to see Lex walk out, and the burning body of a police officer rolling around on the sidewalk while the morning walking commuters scream.

Your drive downtown brings you to the scene of the battle.

Rex rushes forward, taking off his jacket as he goes, wrapping it around the police officer, saying i what he hopes is a confident voice. "Easy, easy. I'll get you out."

The naked Klansmen are locked in the cage. The Dark Rider hands the colored man the Klan outfits and the keys.
"Take the truck outside to take your family home. Don't go all the way, though, you don't want to attract that kind of attention. And here, you might wanna wear this. The law might stop you for driving while colored, but they won't stop a Klansman who might be the Sheriff." He puts a hand on the man's shoulder.
"Don't worry. You won't see me, but I'll be near to make sure that you get home safe."
The Dark Rider goes to fill a bucket with water, which he then splashes on the unconscious Klansmen.
"Rise and shine, my beauties," he calls.

Lexx pulled off his shirt and used it to try to smother the officer's burning clothes. Seeing Vivian, he told her," Go get a bucket of water. Quick!" He turned back to the policeman, and continued to try to help. He'd seen enough burns in Europe, and didn't wish them on anyone.

Vivian nods at Lex and runs inside the bakery, looking for a bucket she can fill with water. Once she finds one, she'll fill it and head outside as quickly as she can carrying the bucket to where Lex is.

The farmer quickly takes his leave. "Thank you sir. For everything."
The Sheriff sputters as he wakes up. "What in tarnation-?" He looks at his situation and yells.
"You're in a lot of trouble, boy!"
(Rex)
You pull out one of the patrolmen. He's bleeding quite profusely and is fairly dazed. His partner is completely unconscious.
(Lex and Vivian)
Lex, you douse the man and manage to put out the flames, but he's in very bad shape. Vivian, you've never seen a man this badly hurt before. You didn't even know a human being could take this kind of punishment and still live.

Caleb is driving along and comes accross the scene of the police chasing the blue car. He mutters to himself "well, if that don't beat all". He considers his options, but realizes that puesueing the car in a company truck while not in costume would probably ruin his secret identity. Thankfully for the police, The Scarecrow isn't a normal person and his influance can be felt even when he's not present...
As the car speeds past Caleb casts "Horrific Illusion" (PPE cost 10, 102 PPE remaining) at the driver or whomever is shooting that bow, or heck just into the car in general... as he gets out of the way. If it's not close enough (Horrific Illusion has a range of 30') he'll use "Fear" which has a 100' range (PPE Cost 5, 107 PPE remaining in this case). Either way both of these spells have a duration and continued horror factor checks are probably going to hamper the effects of the people in the car as they gradually freak out (all at once or one at a time) get in each other's way, and inevitably lead to loss of control of the vehicle. There shouldn't be a sign that Caleb actually did anything.
Unless he has something to react to, Caleb then just follows in his truck (behind the police) playing the role of "annoying rubbernecking civilian" so he'll be handy when the car DOES crash. He probably won't be able to come out as "The Scarecrow" but simply by being around as an illusionist he can probably find ways to support the police and make sure they bring these guys down.

"You don't have to see this, Viv. " Lex said, looking back at his protogé. He had seen plenty of viscious wounds in the war so it didn't phase him as much. " Go inside and get sis to call for help. Oh wait, you know where I keep my bandage kit, right?" He made sure not to mention it was in the basement. " Go get it and another bucket of water."

Yonette was sitting near the balcony door, doing some mending on one of Rex's silk shirts. her tiny stitches became hidden under the embroidered design underway. she pauses when she hears a loud explosion and stands up and opens the door to look out and about below.
*she wonders if she should grab anything important in case of the building getting emptied. but with the explosion, she grabs her bundle and a spare set of clothes for him. the passports and the first aid kit. that is all she can think of grabbing, and slips out the door and goes towards the elevator and heads down

Helping the officers out of their car, "My name is Douglas Avery, P.I., what can you tell me of that odd automobile? They had some pretty nifty equipment to take out three squad cars like they did. Is it military?"
After feeding them some keywords, Avery will scan their surface thoughts with telepathy.

The Dark Rider chuckles. It is not the cheerful and friendly sound that the farmer and his family had heard. This chuckle is cold, with an edge of cruelty, and barely suppressed anger.
"Me, in trouble? You don't know what trouble is," the Dark Rider tells the Sheriff. "But you're gonna find out."
The Dark Rider holds up the Sheriff's badge.
"You don't deserve this," he says flatly. "And you know, what I hate most? People who hide behind the law in order to break it."
The Dark Rider puts the badge into a pocket.
"You're done. All of you. This city, this county is under my protection. And you're the scum I protect it from. You think you can make trouble? I'll teach you what that really means. I am, however, a much nicer guy that you deserve to come up against, which is why I'll let you off with a slap on the wrist. This time. Tell your friends that you're through, and that I want you out of this state. If you decide to ignore my friendly advice, don't be surprised if you find yourself in a cage again."
The Dark Rider takes out a box of matches. He opens the box, takes out a match and holds it up. Then he scratches it across the grained edge of the box. The match flares up. The Dark Rider holds it up once again, showing the Sheriff and his stooges the flame, then he tosses the match at the cage.
"Next time I put you in a cage, I won't just waste the match. Next time, I'll bring some petroleum."
He turns to leave, but stops after three paces. He turns his head towards the cage.
"By the way, if you think you can get back at me by taking it out on that farmer and his family ... or anyone else for that matter ... I'd advise you not to. Honestly, the only smart thing for you to do is get the heck out of Central City."
The Dark Rider walks away, his dark shape melting into the night. He walks to where he has hidden his Indian Scout.

Wide eyed, Vivian stares at the officer, shocked and amazed that he was still alive who had been hurt this badly. Lex's voice snaps her out of her reverie and she nods, realizing that the officer probably wouldn't be alive for much longer if she didn't move quickly. Turning around, she runs into the bakery yelling for Lex's sister asking her to call for help for the injured officer.
Once that's done, she'll get the bandage kit Lex asked for and fills the bucket with water again and heads outside as quickly as she can. "Here you go." she says to Lex, handing him the bandage kit and bucket of water. "What can I do to help?"

As you walk up to your motorcycle, you begin to feel weariness - the night has been long and the sun is starting to rise. You want to get back to your place before too long.

You exit the building and see Rex and another man tending to injured police officers on the road.
(Rex and Avery)
Rex, you see Avery introduce himself as you see the men are mostly rattled, and a bit bloody and bruises, but will live. His manner of speech and the way he behaves suggests something...unusual about him.
Avery, the policemen seem too dazed to be up to responding to you. Your telepathy scans the surface, and only reveals the following words jumbled in. "O'Neill", "Barons", "Runners." "Moonshiners." "Porthouse."
(Lex and Viv)
Viv, Lex's sister makes the call as you get the water and supplies. Lex manages to apply it; but the man's chances are 50/50 to make it through the next 3 minutes, at best.

The amazing car zips past the range of your fear spell, the driver is unfazed while the man with the bow and arrow gets inside screaming.
