Once everyone was aboard, the elevator automatically descended, opening to a small alcove at the back of the ball room. It was bustling with people.

Tabitha uttered," I can guard the elevator if you like?"



Because of the size of the crowd, it was difficult for Matt to focus on any particular voices in the crowd, but he did he what sounded like an elevator chime behind Mary Jane. She replied, That's very kind, Mr. Murdock. I'm sure Peter will be back in just a moment." Her voice was polite, but Matt could read her concern for her husband's sudden departure.

Peter turns around to see JJJ standing there with his arms folded. "Hey-a, boss. I'm uh..., here covering the event for ya. Figured you could use some nice..." He looks down to the ground. "Who am I kidding... the lady needed a night out, so I put on the ol three piece suit and came down here. Didn't forget my camera though." Peter smiles meekly at the one person who he didn't need to see this night.

Tally sees the huge crowd and looks at it thinking about how she would have wished she could of stayed at home. As such she decides to stay near wherever Tabitha is and only just exits the elevator and hangs a right. Staying unnoticed out of the way of people.

Cap looks at the two ladies. "There's nothing to be afraid of here. You've handled greater dangers than this. Smile. Relax." Cap smiled, as much to convince himself as the others.

Clint took a look at Cap, obviously reading his old friend. He smirked and turned to Logan," You ever hear the expression about the pot and the kettle?"

Immediately off the elevator stood two woman having a conversation. One of them was recognizable as Tony Starks' assistant Virginia Potts. The other had her back to the arriving team, but her long blonde hair was familiarto the senior members of the team.

Hawkeye patted Cap on the shoulder," Now you behave yourself," then motioned to the others," c'mon. let's find the bar. First round is on me."



Jameson pointed a hand as if he was going to say something, then grimaced a bit before dropping the hand," I should have known you were here riding on Mary Jane's coat tails. Do yourself a favor and don't embarass her." Then as he started to walk past, he pointed at Peter," And I want your photos on Robbie's desk by nine o'clock." He didn't wait for a reply as he continued by towards a knot of politicians.

"ms. Potts, Agent Carter. Good to see you again." Steve tries his best to smile and hide his awkwardness in front of Sharon. "I hope all is going well with you tonight."

Tally seeing her path being blocked instead slips off through the crowd in search of somewhere peaceful where none would disturb he or her disturb others. Out of sight and out of mind! She thinks as she moves that way. Just like X-eee said!

Matt smiles, "Miss Jane, don't worry. I doubt that even with his propensity to be in the thick of things with that camera of his, that Peter can get into too much trouble in the rest room. Why don't we see if we can find some refreshments," he says offering her his arm.

Peter wiped his brow as JJJ walked away. Of course he'd be here! Ugh... Peter made sure his suit was on properly and walked back into the gala. "Matt, I trust you've been a proper gentleman with my wife?" He takes a picture of the two of them together. "Crap." Tabitha said as Aura ditched them. "Someone better keep an eye on her."

Hawkeye smirked, " You're responsible for her, cya. Logan, Blink, let's get that drink."

Tab groaned before starting through the crowd.

"Well hello," said a voice with an accent Tally didn't recognize. A man drinking a glass of champagne smiled " You look lost. Looking for someone?"


Sharon looked at Steve with a smile, " It is so far. Good to see you. " She glanced, as if looking for something," Tonight must be just a social call, and not an undercover appearance I hope?"

Potts looked at Steve," If you'll excuse me, I have to take this." She held up a smartphone and stepped aside, leave Cap and Sharon alone.

Carter continued to smile," It's been a while. I tried to reach you, but Jarvis said you were away. I was starting to think you were avoiding me."


MJ took Matt's offered arm in time for Peter's photo. she smiled, but both Peter could read her concern in her eyes and Matt could hear it in her tone.

"You know how it is, more than most. And it was you who always said that I should leave the undercover work to the professionals." Steve gives a small smile. "I'd never avoid you Sharon."

Tally turns to the man, definitely not recognizing the accent or the man. She spins around and looks at him. "I am not lost, but out of place in a land that is not meant for me. I am just trying to stay out of site of everyone and out of the way so no one needs to worry about me I guess." She responds matter of factly. "It seems safer that way." She does glance up at the man but feeling as uncomfortable as she does though does not look long or make eye contact.

Peter lets his camera dangle from his neck and walks up to MJ. "Where to now, babe? Who needs to be schmoozed first?" He offers a slight smile, knowing that she's stressing out about something, but not wanting to talk about it in front of Matt.

The man smiled at Tally," Aren't we all strangers at some point? My name is Paul, may I get a drink for you?" He was already trying to get the attention of a waitress passing by.

Sharon blushed slightly at Cap as the jazz band began to play with a slow tempo tune." Why Steve Rogers, if I didn't know better, I'd almost call that flirting." She hooked his arm in hers," Come on, dance with me."


Obviously looking for someone, Tabitha suddenly appeared from the crowd nearly on top of Matt, Peter and MJ. She looked at Mary Jane as if she knew her," Sorry Ms. Watson, I didn't see you there."

Mary Jane looked puzzled," Actually it's Mrs. Parker, do I know you?"

Tabitha froze as her eyes met Peter's after seeing his camera," Then you must be.... OHMYGOD...ohmygod... I,..i.." she began backing away, bumping into a group of people before turning and running through the crowd.

"What was that all about?" Mary Jane said, still confused.

Matt was able to tell that whatever was wrong with Tabitha, it was sheer terror at the sight of Peter.

"I'll try, but fair to warn you, it has been a while." Steve takes to the floor with Sharon, and they begin to dance.
