Balus laughed after he turned his back on the Riders. " nice work Slyce. You sure you don't mind Krystal tagging along. I mean it doesn't break regs or anything, but ... you sure you're okay with it?" Balus realized he sounded like an idiot, but it was too late now.

Slycer rolls his eyes. "Hey, we can't help it if someone tags along. Look, let's see if there's anyone on this bucket that can start up a good game of Kuda."

"Sir, while the planet appears to be mostly barren desert, I am detecting several manufactured satellites and broadcasting facilities. This evidence suggests that there is some form of intelligent life on the planet. I will attempt to intercept some of these communications to see if we can determine the exact technological extent the population has reached," Fegh says as he opens up the communication channels to try and capture any errant signals.

Krystals eyes light up at the prospect of going with the two of them on patrol but is puzzled bye the idea of a game. "Playing Kuda is normal on these patrols?"

"There's nothing normal about patrol." Balus replied. " But it's the abnormal stuff we worry about."

Fegh, you are picking up signals, but you'll need to translate them.
Slycer chuckles as you keep moving forward. "So, where ya from, kid?" He gives Krystal a look, while motioning to Balus to take a look ahead for any signs of trouble.

Krystal is not sure on the response but having long come to terms with the fact her parents were dead decides on answering Slycer's questions.
"Where I was born I have never thought to ask, but from stories it leads me to believe that I was actually born in space to a pair of employees of Richol. It was on the Javeline and the attack happened when I was just a babe. Richol being one of the chief mechanics could not leave and the not heading back home I spent most of my life in space with him learning from him. Which is why I am a mechanic, having learned all I have from him. But then again what else would you like to know?" She fishes hoping they would ask more in a way as this is kinda nice actually being asked about.

Once he is able download and store a large piece of the alien transmissions Fegh attempts to create a program that will translate them, using his basic knowledge of languages, as well as tapping on some cryptographic algorithms to try and make sense of the alien information coming at him. He doesn't believe that he would be able to translate things on hos own but thankfully he has the ships computer to aid him. Unsure of how long this will take, he motions to another officer to take his station at the sensors while he moves to an untended science station to begin work on his program.

Balus nodded to Slycer and took a few steps towards ahead so he could look down the corridor while listening to the other two talk.

Fegh is able to decode the language easily enough - it seems to be an automated welcoming message with detailed instructions on how to make contact with the inhabitants of the planet. it's about 400 pages long.
Slycer nods. "Uh-huh. Space baby. Gotcha." he looks ahead at Balus.
Balus sees no signs of trouble ahead.

Krystal almost asks half defensively and half jokingly, "Is there something wrong with being a space baby? I mean I did not really have much of a choice in the matter."

Balus gave a massive thumbs up when he looked up. He wondered if he should intervene in the conversation, but decided to stay out of it.

Slycer just smiles back. "nope. not a thing. So, What's working in the engine room like?"
Balus sees Major Trokyr walk onto the deck.

"It is nice. I spend as much time there as in Richol's shop I guess. Engines make sense to me and my powers allow me to be a great benefit to those involved in there. But by the same token, not having a rank at all kinda makes me not a part of the ship but a bonus being not being part of the military structure. I am guessing I would be as it seems majority are when I turn old enough to do so, or remain a part of Richol's team. I am just not sure. What is is like working security. Or working with Balus?"

" Speaking of majority, " Balus said, turning back to the others," Slyce, heads up. Trokyr. Hope he didn't hear about you and the mess hall yet."
