Vol 2 Ch7: Just Another Day at the Office (B&C)

"Whime, whine whine." Eleutheroi says, smirking. "Make the call."

[dakota]

" I wasn't whining, just stating a fact." Coop said as he pulled out his phone. " Hey, how come you still get to boss me around if I'm the slayer and you're suppose to listen to me?" He asked as he thumbed in the number and listened to it ring.

Coop's Great grandfather had 2 kids!!!

(Coop)
The phone rings. "Hello?" Asks the usual voice on the other side. "Oh. You did call."

Bianca immediately returned to the guild and went to the Library, where she sent Cooper a message. It read that she was in the library and had a message for him.

Then she started searching the records for any evidence of the sibling, checking any records which would have pertained to local children around that time - especially any anonymous admissions to hospitals and the records of deaths.

Hospital records didn't reveal anything, her not having access to the hospital records and all.

Newspapers were rather mum, on the birth announcements on the day recorded. However, there was some article about a wealthy socialite being admitted to the hospital. There was some kind of scandal, you see. She was suspected of having an affair, though the husband denied it to the news.

"What have you discovered so far?" Tobrias asked. "I noticed your return."

"Well," Bianca says, "the hospital records have been falsified, but it is apparent from the records and the news reports that there could have been a different birthday. There also could have been more than one child. However, the hospital can't find even the recorded child's records, I doubt they have the unknown one's. It is going to take a lot more research to figure this out."



O.O.C.: Argh! There are so many law and order type shows on TV, I forget that ordinary citizens can't get John Doe admission records.

"More than one?" Tobrias asks. "But that would not be who we believed to be Zachary's Grandfather, would it?" He takes a deep breath. "Then I suppose you will have figure out how the next generation came about." He shakes his head. "We know Zachary's father is his father, so the next step would be to who his father is, yes?"

The meeting set, Coop arrives at a restaurant that evening. Eleutheroi was in tow. The blond was there. It was the vampire who was bugging him before. "Hey. Oh, you brought a friend. Is it OK if he sits somewhere else. I only got a table for 2." The restaurant was mildly busy, but there were empty tables nearby.

Bianca nods, "Yes, I can re-trace from the present up. Unless we want to dig into the scandal and cover up more. Unfortunately, hiding information that long ago is likely to work - we can see the inconsistencies, but following up is nearly impossible."

Tobrias looked concerned. "This is a troubling turn. Golayus was not known to have any children. And of the family lines, only the Lockhearts were left by that generation." He says in a low voice. "We have an anomaly... This has implications..."

Tobrias' musings were interrupted by sounds of a scuffle near the main entrance to the guild hall. "Speak of this to no-one except Zachary Cooper or Moltavious Lockheart. No-one." And he heads to the main entrance.

Bianca discreetly follows him to the main entrance, curious to learn the source of the commotion.

She can see the reporter being physically restrained, complaining about how his rights are violated and that Tobrias is acting beyond the law. Tobrias had stood quietly throughout the tirade. Well, until the reporter claimed the Guild halls were public property and how the Guild should not restrain him.

"This is private property, sir." Tobrias answered in a tone that made Bianca's blood turn cold. The reporter froze, like a deer in headlights. "If I find you on this property again, I will have you arrested." He added, each word a new icicle in the air. "Guards, remove him."

With that, the two armoured men all but carried the reporter outof the building.

" Sorry, but with popularity comes expectations." Coop replied with a shrug and a grin. He motioned to Eleutheroi.. " You want to wait at the bar? I'll be okay." he tried to hide the nervousness in his voice. since that first night he and Sarah had ended up in the hospital, he hadn't liked vampires, so the idea that this was one that had been coming on to him unnerved him a bit.

He took the other seat, and rested his arms on the table," So what are these things you want to tell and show me?"

She sat down, leaning forward. "You can relax, sweetie." She coos. "No-one is going to hurt you. You should order something. In the meantime..." She leans back in her chair and slides a small manilla envelope on the table. "In the meantime, I have our opening bid." She finishes, smiling pleasingly.

[dakota]

Coop took the envelope . " What's this, a bribe to look the other way? You said you wanted to talk, something about opening my eyes. " He laid the envelope down in front of him, though he did curiously want to open it.

Bianca is grateful the distraction is out of the way and returns to the library to see if she can uncover anything searching in new directions based on the information she has learned. She pours over the genealogy backwards and forwards and also searches local records again for clues.
