Vol 2 Ch7: Just Another Day at the Office (B&C)

Bianca makes her way back to the information desk eager to get started on her research. She has already planned out in her mind that she would like to start with a careful review of the five year window before and after the child's birth for both the mother and the child. After all, people don't visit the doctor that often, ten years of visits should be only a few pages of entries. She hopes to find any evidence that the mother was actually pregnant before the listed birth date - prescriptions for pre-natal vitamins, ultrasounds or even just an unusual number of visits without a good explanation. For the child things should be much easier. The first five years of medical information should have loads of information about child development. Teething, talking, sizes, weights, walking and other myriad information all of which can be easily compared to developmental averages. If Bianca's suspicions are correct, the child should show unusually fast development which has no discernible cause and extends to nearly all areas of development.

"We have our suspicions." Says Moltavious. "But, yes... the press conference..."

"Ah, you're back." Says the clerk. "I only found the one file." She says. "Sorry, nothing on the other name." She holds out a folder of print-outs.

(Coop)
The press-conference had let up fairly quickly, with Holia keeping control of the questions. The incident at the hotel was breushed over with the focus on the political scandal. No-one seemed to care if it was a Guild agent or not. Sarah's disappearance had gone unmentioned. Coop was thanked, very publically, for helping to identify and prevent th treasonous situation.... and so on.

"So. Should we track down your new flame?" Eleutheroi asks.

Bianca takes the one file and checks to see which one it is.

It's the file of Coop's great grand-mother.

Coop held back the profanity he wanted to reply to Eleutheroi with a groan. " She is not my new flame. " He answered with a clenched jaw. " And you know that I will not give up on Sara until I see proof that she's dead, and I know she's not, or she breaks up with me. I have no interest in this woman that keeps calling me, other than to find out what she's talking about. And since you and Tobrias still like to keep me in the dark about stuff, I have to see her to find out."

"Ouch." Eleutheroi says. "Did it never occur to you that maybe we don't know anything more than what we've told you?" Stepping over to look down onto the city, he adds. "Also, if you don't plan on getting over it, don't ask for me help."

Coop realized he had let himself overreact to a touchy subject. " Sorry El. Guess I overreacted. I do need help, and I can't think of anyone better to keep me out of trouble, even if you do like to push my buttons."

Eleutheroi shrugs. "Just joking. You should make the call. Are you going to want Fayde guards around? If it is a Vampire, then it'll probably sense them, but the extra firepower would be good."

" Good idea. I'll call whatever her name is," Coop nodded, pulling out his cell phone," You want to give Lateric a ... whoa, whoa whoa, who said anything about her being a bloodsucker?" He didn't bother to hide his surprise as he fumbled the phone, nearly dropping it.

Eleutheroi shrugs. "The only people who know to target Sarah would have dealings. That would be folks like us, Crynn'Jol, the Dragon in the West Guild, and the Vamps. Not many on that list that would want her out of the way, or have the power or opportunity to do it."

A chill ran down Coop's back. " I hope you're wrong. Giving press conferences is one thing, but I don't know if I'm ready to take on any vamps yet. Heck, I'm not sure I'll even recognize one when I see it yet."

Bianca is curious why they were only able to find the older file, but she knows of several probable reasons and she doesn't want to try and extract any more from the 'help.'

She takes the file and goes to one of the nearby restaurants. She will start five years before the recorded birth of the child and review five years afterwards too.

Fastforwarding...

Her research, which was finished by the time that Coop had finished his press conference, had revealed that Coop's Great gammy was indeed pregnant and gave birth to a child. However, information on the child's father, and even the child's name seems to have been scrubbed... well, except that he was a he. And clearly scrubbed, too, though not without skill and grace.

*ahem* GM Edition: An extra child before Coop's Grand father... in that the grandfather's there on file, clear as day. BUt there was another baby.

"I doubt it would be specificly Lateric. With the Old Ones issue handled for the time being, I doubt they will get involved here." Tobrias says as he enters the room.

" Well whoever. Just as long as someone is there to get me out if I get over my head." Coop replied with a shrug. " And right now that wouldn't be hard, since I know just enough to get myself in trouble and will probably prove it over and over. But I know I don't want to be some bloodsucker's chewtoy.""
