Richardson could see Socrates' eyes unmoved by his angry glints and responses. "I would be honoured to be in so tight-knit a team that you trust me for such things." Is all he says, calmly. His attention, meanwhile, remained on covering Janxi, in case he attempt at territory backfired.

Abe's eyes narrowed as he heard the dinosaur's call. " Spinosaur. Must be that big male that passed trough a week ago. He's a long wayys off to be that quiet."
Shep looked at the board," Sorry abe, duty calls. "He stood and started pulling on his gear. "Ready to haul in two minutes, Captain."
Outside, the loud roar never materialized into anything more despite the teams' readyness.

Seeing nothing come, Socrates relaxed his aim and gave a signal to stand down. "We should move before something bigger wants to challenge Janxi." He says, patting the lion on the shoulder on his way to get the rest of his gear.

Janxi exhaled slowly, and Socrates heard her purr loudly. "Looks like someone learned them about apex predators."
She lowered her rifle to her side and walked in to collect the rest of her gear, including the cap she tossed aside.
She looked at Abe as she briefly removed her helmet and gave the old guy a final nuzzle. "Yer a cat-person and didn't even know it, Abe. Maybe me and you and Tori can meet up when the mission's over for a hunt. Thanks for everything."
Janxi turned to her partner, who was gearing up, and looked flustered to be caught off guard with her human in harm's way. She walked up and gave the little cat another nuzzle and jumped in on the second verse.
"Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite looking forward to a little afternoon delight. Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.
Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. A-a-a-afternoon delight."
With her pack strapped on, and all gear ready, she headed out into Abe's yard, carrying her rifle in ready position. She laughed at the randy song that seemed to be written by and for cats in heat.

Tori returned Janxi's nuzzle, now that she had full armor on and was ready to travel. "Nothin' and nobody wants to fox with you, Janxi! Way to run 'em off!"
She looked down to Abe's dog and gave her a big hug. The smelly old hound was about the best dog Tori had ever met. Then she turned to Abe and hugged him, too. If she had a grandpa, she would want him to be a feline version of the old human. Someone she could hunt and fish with, and talk about hot sauce and barbecue with.
"Hey Pops? You be careful out in this here swamp. If we come back this way, I wanna see ya safe 'n sound! Me and Janx will take ya bowhuntin'!"
She grabbed her pack and strapped it on with her LBG, following Janxi out the door. The rain still came down, but not like the night watch. Tori looked to the clouds to see if the eye had passed already. She held her carbine and awaited orders to move out, keeping the song going. It wasn't a mantra to calm her anymore, but a silly song to be sung by silly cats.
"Started out this morning feeling so polite I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling a little afternoon delight.
Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.
Please be waiting for me baby when I come around. We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down.
Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight. Aaa--aaaa-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa- AFTERNOON DELIGHT!"
At that she erupted into a fishing cat call mated with giggles. "Rowowowowow! heeehehehe! rowrow!"

Sam nods and gets her gear together and tells the team, "OK. Time to move out." Smiling at Abe, she says "Thanks again for your hospitality. It is appreciated." Once everybody is ready, Sam heads outside, ready to get the team moving again.

The little cat grew somber as the team gathered outside in the rain. The giddiness with Janxi subsided and she turned to look at the group.
"Santiago, Shep... Now look. There's a big elephant in the room right now, and his name is Health. Shep, you don't wanna hear it, I know, but I ain't askin' to be a dick or just thinkin' 'bout my ass, neither. I'm right worried about you. You said you was fit before we shipped, and your wound worsened. Mebbe ya felt good before we shipped, and mebbe ya feel awright now. We may not have shelter like this for a while, so if Santiago thinks you need more sack time, then we oughtta take it. One more day ain't gon' hurt a damn thing, no how. If ya relapse in the midst of a swamp, I ain't so sure psychic surgery or all the anti-biotics in the world is gon' keep ya from gettin' septic.
"I'm sorry I got on ya for snivelin' las' night. But we can't afford to lose anyone, 'specially you. I'm askin' ya, Shep, let Santiago give you one more look-see before we go on. If you say you're okay, you got my trust, but you know full well even a shallow cut can get gangrenous out here."
Tori averted Shep's gaze. She wasn't saying it to be confrontational or to obstruct the mission. For once, she seemed to care, and didn't want to lose a team mate. Her tail lowered slightly, and swished with uncertainty.

"Doctor, it's your call." Shepherd said after a moment, his eyes studying Tori as he spoke. There was no hint of being offended by her comments as he stepped out onto the deck. " But the only thing wrong with my head now is the headache from the horrible singing out here." He smirked
Abe followed them out, his hound at his side," I don't mind helpin' those that really need it." He replied, " If you swing by this way, the door'll be open and there won't be a shotgun waitin inside this time." He chuckled.
Anyone glancing back soon knew why the cabin had fared so well. The siding had come free in a few spots to reveal CS shipping containers, which had a reputation for being able to survive anything thrown at them.

"What I did should be fine now. I would like more time but in a situation like this it may not be warranted. If there is any more problems I expect you to tell me right away. Either way we should be good to move out at this time!" The doctor approving Shep for active duty.

" Of course, Doctor." Shep replied, then glanced at Tori with a smirk. " You heard it. and for doubting me, you can play dino bait and take point." He hesitated, then slipped on his bucket, sputtering, " I hate this stupid thing."

"Outstanding! And aye-aye sir, moving on point!" Her tail seemed to take on a happier posture, lifting higher and swishing with slow joy, rather than uncertainty.
For her, the point spot was neither a punishment or an inconvenience. It's what she was trained for. She liked being out front, because she didn't have to put her faith or confidence in anyone else to keep her safe. She had better senses and reaction time than humans, and than most dogs. Point was where she wanted to be.
"Uh, one question... Where are we going?"

Janxi sits and wait for some sort of direction to head. If she had her druthers, it would be to go back the way they came, find the sub and go home to hot chow. Her glassy green marble eyes rested on Shep for some kind of direction.
She took stock of her present position on the map, and tried to determine how to get to where Shep might send them. She'd tele instructions to Tori when the time came..

Sam nods at Tori "Now if you're satisfied, let's get underway." Sam's tone shows that while she isn't upset in the slightest for Tori's making sure Shep was fit to continue the mission, she did want to get moving.
To answer Tori's question, Sam replies "We're heading to Char. However, if we can find something to make the journey go quicker, we'll use that." Sam quickly gets her bearing and checks her map to make sure they'll be heading in the right direction before heading out, keeping an eye out for any signs of danger along the way.
