McKenna looked up from the mop she was using at the comm speaker, then sighed before answering. " Just a minor incident, Captain. I'm cleaning it up now."

Xavier wonders what he may have gotten himself into but just shakes his head silently and continues to pour over the engines familiarizing himself with them. He then starts to think of making a design for a central location hub that can dispatch which area needs work instead of having one person in each nacelle.

"Just so long as I'm not growing man-eatign plants." Tawfeek answered, letting go of the Comm.
When Foreman arrives, Tawfeek moves to let him gethis seat. "We have clearance for departure in 15 minutes." He explains. "So, let's get in the air.
On the general comm, throughout the ship, Tawfeek says, "This is your captain speaking. We will be departing Earth in 15 minutes. This ship is gravity plated, so the lift-off should not require passengers to be in their bunks or the designated seats in the recreation room. Viewing off the lift-off is allowable in the Galley only. Please consult an adult or crew member before going. 30 minutes after lift-off, there will be a general meet-and-greet in the galley. That is all."
And the comm went dead.
In the passenger berths, the groups all went to their respective rooms and started to get ready, with only the two children pestering Jessica to tell them all about her pirate encounters, with many questions about clothes, swords, guns, earings sails (yes, sails in space), and any number of things.
The rest of the crew find their jobs as normal. Xavier's examination of a central noification dispatch method might be doable, but, with the one questionable roll, it's hard to know for sure. Maybe Mensk knows something?

"Sounds good sir," Foreman says as he takes his seat relieved the Captain wasn't angry.
Foreman begins by turning on the sensor and computer systems, He uses the comms to the engine room and says, "powering up engines now gents. Watch your fingers and arms." Toggling off comms he turns off the comms and powers up the engines at the same time. As he waits for the engines to reach operating levels he watches the sensors and gauges to make sure everything is in the green.

" Man eating plants?" McKenna chuckled as she continued her clean up. " That's a good one." Despite the warning of take off soon, she finished up, then finished up her work in the hydroponics bay. With everything sorted, the last thing she did was pick off the ripe tomatoes and put them in a basket she had gotten from the galley.
She took the basket with her to her room long enough to get changed into some clean clothes, choosing a baggy oversized sweater to be conservative for a change. Putting on her glasses, she picked up the basket and headed to the galley as soon as she knew they were clear of the planet's atmosphere.

Xavier decides to wait until it is the proper time to leave the area to meet with Mensk. Until then he starts by drafting the plans at least the start of them, also coming to the realization that he may need to look at both sides of the engines before he can make a full plan up.

Jessica smiles as she continues to regale the children with her tales of adventures fighting pirates answering all their questions to the best of her ability.

"Excuse me, miss Stephens." One of the Europeans says. "WOuld it be alright if we watched from the Galley?"
"Oh! The lift off! Can we, mom? Can we?" Asked the kids.
The mother looked at them. "Only if Miss Stephens says it's OK."
The children immediately whirl. "Can we Miss Stephens. Pleeeease, can we?" ------
After checking his system, Foreman finds he has a go for launch.
--- McKenna, the ship will be leaving, soon.

Foreman toggles ship wide comms. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, this is your pilot, Jeremy Flip Foreman, you can call me Flip. Thank you for flying The Galaxy today, we'll do our best to your trip across the Galaxy on The Galaxy pleasant and enjoyable. If you are near a window, feel free to look out and wave goodbye as we depart this blue planet and make our way to Mars," he says with a chuckle. Turning off the comms, he shrugs and says to himself, "the captain might not like that but it was fun."
He begins to lift off after being given clearance and then points the ship on the track needed to break atmosphere. [dice=100]Pilot: Spacecraft: Heavy 60% [dice=100]Navigation 55%[rand=2298815336615379644025593662698925108294615465007189346160183226674]

Jessica smiles at the two children as she nods, "Of course you can. The ship has a very nice view from the galley." Looking at the others, she says "I can escort whoever wants to go to the galley, if they would like."

"Though, I would recommend not doing it while the captain is on the bridge with you." Tawfeek said to Foreman.
So, Jessica leads the whole colonist group to watch lift-off out of the window in the galley.
The children were fully awestruck as their home shrank and shrank so quickly, and then turning into the black of space.
And... they're in space again!
"I don't see any pirates..." The young boy said.
"That's because we're still in Earth. They don't come here 'cause they're afraid of us." The girl said, her face pressed against the window to see everything she could.

Foreman cringes, he says, "sorry boss, thought the passengers would get a kick out of it, and frankly I thought you left," he says with a smile.
Toggling comms he says, "earth control, this is The Galaxy, breaking orbit and getting on our projected course towards Mars, have a good day."
Once the comms are off he says, "alright captain, should be smooth sailing from here. Setting into our course now," he says as he maneuvers the ship onto the course they plotted out while coming in from Carson's Weigh.

An odd look passes over Jessica's face when she sees McKenna but the polite smile never wavers as she says with a nod of greeting, "Doctor." Her tone is a lot more formal than when they first met, given that McKenna had completely avoided her since Carson's Weigh.
Turning to the group she tells them "Everyone, this is Doctor Hatfield. If anyone gets hurt, she'll be the person to help them." She then introduces their passengers to McKenna and lets them chat with her if they have any questions, moving to where the children are her smile becoming more genuine and less formal as she looks out at space.

Xavier keeps a complete eye on all gauges and every readout the ship does to keep and eye for any abnormalities as well as to get a feel for her, or him, or it depending on the Captain. Thinking to himself he should ask the captain about that.
