Daveris nods. "Oh! Food!" She says, as it arrives. "Look, don't give it another thought. The cops have to strong arm here, since crime in the city's been so bad in some areas."

Mei looks at the food she ordered and debates the punishment versus keeping up appearances. She decides that maybe if she continues in conversation that no one will notice.
"Oh, now if it was not the best place other then LA to break into our goals I would probably not think about moving here. But whatever happens, happens I guess. This was my mothers dream for me and I must fulfill it to the best of my ability."
Can I trust them with my secret. I am not sure, if only there were some way to be sure of myself. I mean Daveris might as well be my best friend in the whole world and this Kendall guy although gruff seemed to be very interested when I showed him the card. I wonder if he knows more? She thinks to herself while watching them eat.

Kendall takes a bite from his burger and thinks about what Mei says, he decides not to comment since doing what her mother wants seems to be important to the girl. He notices she doesn't touch her food. Thinking about what she says about being questioned by the police he wonders if she has abilities and if those relate to her lack of appetite. He Takes another bite, puts his burger down chews for a second and says, "I had a run in with the police a few days ago. I didn't do anything illegal or anything, but that didn't stop them from questioning me for hours. They waste time on people that aren't doing anything wrong when they should be focused on the criminals."

"They did?" Daveris asks, putting her food down. "Was it those cops that came to see you today?" She asked, the youthful need for gossip getting the best of her for a second. "Sorry. Didn't mean to push. They do over do it. Have you seen what's going on at the Labrynth? I heard there's gun battles every day cause they have it so walled off. Even the Red Cross can't get across the line."

"The ones today were more concerned with drugs. Apparently the last engineer was supplying the dancers. They wanted to make sure I wasn't. My run in was nothing to do with this job. Just a misunderstanding."

"My run in was more of because they think I was the source of the force field that saved everyone. They were very aggressive in their questioning and it was very uncomfortable. I mean those guys are asses!"
She still kinda plays with her food all the while thinking why did I not order the soup. That would have been the least affecting on me. Hopefully they will just think I am a dancer who is on a diet.

"That is what I said!" Mei comments before immediately covering her mouth realizing she screwed up and awaits for their response. She hopes that they do not read into what she says.

Mei didn't look like she was eating at all. But then, Daveris was moving very slowly as well.
"Yeah. So, you see why you want to steer clear of the cops in this town." Daveris said, sipping some water. "Between them and the gangs..." She pauses. "Sorry, you want to move here, and all we've done is give a reason to live. Tell you what, when we have more than 20 free minutes, I'll give you a transit tour of Society Hill. It'll make you feel better!"

"That would be cool, but you do recall I drive. Remember my little VW bug we drove in earlier. And I love to drive. But a tour of the nice area would be cool. I mean it sounds so scary out here. But we will have to see."
Mei is glad that Daveris did not seem to nice her error and continued on the conversation.

Kendall stops eating for a second and after he finishes chewing he looks at the two dancers. He says, "you know if you ladies didn't want to eat, we could have just met somewhere else after dinner."
After a pause he says, "this city is just like any other. It has its good and has its bad. Its up to you what you decide to focus on."

Great there goes at least my cover, now what. She thinks to herself before answering. "Oh I guess I was just not as hungry as I thought." Glancing down at the food and how good it looks. "You know the eyes bigger then stomach syndrome."
Now the question of the day...will they buy it! Is her last thought while waiting for their response.
