Why are people whining because Lucas altered the holy trilogy for the latest release. I watched them the day they were released and I saw nothing wrong with the little bit of editing they did. In fact I thought it cleaned up what they screwed up in the special edition release when they added the new scenes in the first place.
( I started the board, I should start using it I guess ;D )

QWell, first off, they fixed Jabba's face, and Greedo shoots first in the cantina. They added Naboo to the end of ROTJ celebration scene, and they... Why am I ruining it for you, watch it for yourself

I just watched the first one, and I'm less impressed with Lucas. It's like, the more he pursues his vision, the worse the movies get.
Maybe my sound was off, but the "roar" by Obi Wan that's supposed to scare the Sand People, turned into a beeper. "OMG!" Say the sand people "He works on Wall Street! Run!"
Honestly.
I think, from then on, I lost my interest.

I appreciate what Lucas attempted to do in the latest version, but I think that everyone's perception of his universe is so perverted because of the trash known as episodes one and two, that it becomes easy to pick out the flaws in his efforts.

I'm fine with him trying to bring the IV V and VI in line with I II III, and improving some things on the way (Like Jabba, and some of the picture quality, though not all), but, some of the changes fail to impress me, and some things seem to change every time.
That, coupled with the first two of the newer movies, have started to cause disinterest.
It happens sometimes. I used to enjoy Mel Gibson movies, but, lately, they've beena bit of a disappointment too.

Just goes to show that you shouldn't mess with a good thing. I appreciate the effort, but would've preferred if they had released the original movies on DVD.
And Mel gibson hasn't had a good movie since Payback.

Gobs and gobs of movies, incliding The Partiot, Paparazzi, the Passion and Chicken Run (*sings one of these things is not like the other...*)
As for Lucas, at least he took out that scream from Empire in Cloud City where Luke jumps.

But that doesn't make up for his other brain lapses, like replacing Anakin's ghost with Hayden Christianson. C'mon, Vader was an old man by the time the emperor fried him.
Point #2, and this goes back to the VHS special edition, and continued in the DVD's. The big celebration shows a statue of Palpatine being toppled on Coruscant, which remained loyal to the Empire for 3 years. Just more proof that Lucas doesn't appreciate what anyone else has contributed to the SW universe.
Mitichrolians? Give me a ****ing break!

[EDIT] Sometimes, I feel like one of the few [/EDIT] that liked the very original ending to RtoJ? I liked the intimacy of the Ewok dealie. And all those worlds being happy and celebratory... I honestly doubt that Imperial management would have effected so much change on the daily lives of people as those celebrations suggest... unless, those folk from a long time ago in a galaxy far far away are bigger partiers than I was lead to believe. *ahem* anyways...

You had to bring that up, didn't you? The only SW movie to date that they didn't fubar the ending was ESB, and thats only because it was left open ended. We have to face facts, Lucas could write an ending if he had someone dictate it to him.

Episode 4 was OK, but it didn't have the same "What'll happen next?" of Empire. I wonder if Episode 3'll end with a party in the Ewok village.
Cause, if you think about it, 1 and 4,official-looking parades. 2 and 5, cliffhangers alluding to the future.
And Jedi? a party at an Ewok village. I wouldn't be surprised to see a cyborg Anakin Boogyin' down in the forest at the end of 3.

The way GL has been tripping so far with the prequel trilogy, it'll be a disco bash with the gungans.
