Tabitha didn't answer, other than a slight groan that escaped her as she stirred. she had drawn her arms in tight to her body, and her legs were trying to to the samedespite hanging over Steve's arm.

As he nears, huskies in their enclosures begin to bark at the strangers approaching. No one appears in doorways, but Cap can see curtains moving as people peek out to see what the commotion is.

"I apologize for the inconvienence sir. This child is suffering from Hypothermia and needs immediate attention. I can explain myself, but this young lady needs help first." Cap's voice is filled with urgency and a need that will not be easily disuaded

The oldtimer hesitated, then pushed the door shut. Cap could hear several chainlocks being removed. The door opened again. " Only cuz the kid be sufferin'." the man said, as a blast of heat struck Cap through the open door. " Ged'er in 'er an stuff her in the sleepin' bag on the couch. Warmest thing I gut, and the cookstove gives off more heat dan the heaters do." He motioned towards the ratty looking couch that was half in the kitchen and half in the living room."
" You folks in dat crash out on da tundra disafdernoon?" He was already pouring an extra mug of something dark and thick that might pass as coffee. He offered the mug. " Dis'll warm you up too, if yuh can stomach it." He smirked. " whats wit the odd geddup?"

Captain America puts Tabitha in the bag and gets her beside the cookstove. "Thank you sir." After tending to her, he also pours a little of the coffee onto Tabitha's lips. "After a fashion. Have you heard of the Avengers? We were responding to the crash, and we think a survivor may have found their way here. We went to look for it, but my companion overexerted herself. My sincerest thanks for your efforts."

" Like ah said, can have the youngin' sufferin'. Eazy to freeze yerself if you ain't used to the cold up here." the old timer said, stirring a pot on top of the stove before moving to flop in a large chair. He took a drink of the coffee, and then reached beside his chair and pulled up a bottle of Jack Daniels and pour some in his mug," thins it down good." He offered the bottle. " Heard dem 'Vengers, but never heard of 'em in 'dese parts bufore."
Tabitha coughed as Cap gave her the coffee, and turned away from it. "Good sign." the oldtimer laughed. " Coffee's not dat good, and she got enuf wits left to turn away from it. Strong the way I like it. Survivor you say? Ain't seen no udder strangers in town 'sides youfolk. An my dogs lemme know anyone comin'round. S'pose you could use some stew to warm you too, young feller?Dat geddup of yers can't be too warm."

"I'll manage. And you haven't heard of anything unusual since the crash?" Captain America gulps downs what's left, heedless of how it tastes; he's had worse during the War.

" Nope, but it's gettin' late." He pointed to a clock that read nearly 2300 hours. " Youz lucky you got anyone to open up fer yah. Y'all are welcome to stay the nigh I guezz." The old man yawned and emptied his mug. He tossed it in the sink. " D'ere anodder blanket behind the couch, young feller, and the chair is comfy to sleep in, since I'm guezzin youll wanna keep an eye on the girlie. and if eider of you want, d'eres caribou stew in the pot."
He started for one of the two doors, then stopped and pointed towards the other," Latrines in dere. Gotta lift the cover and pull da cord to flush. An' if the dogs take barkin', keep the door shut. Bears been comin'round after garbage cans. " He started toward the bedroom door again.
There wasn't much for comfort in the home. a black and white TV with coat hangers for antennas sat in the corner and on the table next to the chair was a radio underneath a stack of dog earred porn magazines.

"My thanks again, sir." Cap sits back on the couch watching over the girl, and looking out the window for any signs of trouble.

" Yeah, well, don't spread it aroun. Got a reputashun to keep up." the old guy smirked toothlessly. " 'sides, dat geddup of yers remindz me of a feller I saw along time ago. But you ain't old enough to be him, let alone probly evun know where Normandy is. g'nigh." The old guy pulled his door shut with a bang.
Tabitha stirred at the bang, and after about twenty minutes, she started softly mumbling unintelligebly. It began to grow in intensity and the words started to make sense. she was calling after her parents, along with the occasional "don't go" or "please".

Cap smiles at the old man. "Juno Beach? Sorry it took me so long to get there, I was busy at Omaha most of the day."
Steve speaks softly. "It's ok...everything is going to be ok."

Tabitha doesn't seem to hear Captain America. Instead she continued her pleading, mixed with head tossing. Her color was back in her face, and she was sweating even though it wasn't overly warm in the shack.
