Sam simply follows the conversation with a small smirk on her face, not seeing the need to say anything yet. However, once Shep opens his mouth and does his usual thing, she nods at Tyneer and replies “Shut up, Shep. Go outside and keep an eye out for any signs of trouble.” Before he heads out, she adds “And don’t take off. If there’s trouble, notify me immediately, understood?” Sighing, she thinks that the last thing they need to is to give Duke another reason to gouge them for every penny he can get. She does realize that it’s nothing personal against them, he’s just trying to make a living and there would actually be some suckers out there willing to pay the price he had thrown at them.

Rhys looks at Sam then to Duke, "Alright lets talk shop, and seriously this time." *voice neutral and cool* "State your real asking price and lets go from there."

Duke waits for Shep to get out the door with a grin and a wave as he leaves "thanks, uh, Lieutenant? ... Sam, was it? so you're in charge of this outfit? sorry 'bout that, but Dorothy here can be kinda sensitive. she doesn't take well to criticism. she can be mighty finicky like most, er ... skip it"
Duke pats the inner bulkhead for emphasis "so care to continue?" hearing the other soldier interject, Duke looks back and forth between them "first, I didn't catch the rest of your names and second, which one of you're in charge just so I know who's responsible for doin' the negotiation?"

"She's the El-Tee." *jerking his thumb at Sam leaning back* "Very nice vehicle you have here. A little messy but otherwise I can see that she's well built and can handle what gets thrown her way."

Duke listens "er, thanks. I try to take care o' her, at least. heh, I take care o' her an' she takes care o' me. that's our deal. I'll make you folks the same deal. so, whaddaya say? er, sorry, still didn't catch your names. got hers, but not yours"

Shep held back a grumble before stepping out of the Mountaineer. Everyone could hear him go up the ladder to the roof and then plop down.
" My dear," Joshua said to Sam," You have my condolences dealing with that." To emphasis his point, he pointed at the roof.

Socrates continues to quietly watch and listen. This would all make useful intel when he got back to the CS and reported. He was certain they would be interested in knowing about rogues and such. Also, he hoped they wouldn't come across his CS armour, even though he was a Dog Boy, maybe he could convince them he had successfully gone rogue himself. Anything was possible, right?

Sam simply smirks at Tyneer and nods, “You get used to it.” She replies. Turning to Duke, she nods and says “Yes, I’m in charge. As you know, I’m Sam, this is Rhys and that sulking lump up there is Shep.” Crossing her arms under her chest, she continues "And I'll be in charge of these negotiations, and as Rhys here asked I'd like you to state your real asking price and we'll go from there."

Rhys flicks his gaze over Socrates then leans back closing his eyes and listening to the conversation between Sam and Duke.

"the pleasure's all mine" Duke pulls out his PC-3000 and plugs it into his headjack, accessing his CS S-Spec contract and hands it to Sam to review (comp op 1d100=13 pass 13/62%) "as ya can see, like I said, most o' the flat rates have already been negotiated" (base pay per month, expenses, etc.) then Duke pulls up his standard contract for services rendered for Sam to review "this is the only real 'negotiable' part, bonus payouts based on the nature o' the mission. now, from what I understand CS combat pay ranges 10%-20% and hazard pay is 15%-20%. anything involving Sung automatically makes it 'hazardous duty' in my book" "if a fight breaks out, the combat pay kicks in, so considerin' the rate coulda gone as much as 40%, I kinda thought I was bein' nice with 25%, but why don't ya tell me what ya think's fair? just remember ya get what ya pay fer. if we agree, we lock in the amount and you sign the deal with your security code to make it all 'official'..."

Joshua merely snorted and rolled his eyes at Duke before turning his attention to Socrates. " YOu're not like any of the other dog boys around here. Your mouth actually closes and isn't laced with profanity."

Duke ignored Tyneer's reponse, but could tell the ol' man wasn't happy. not wanting to loose a reference, Duke looked at Sam thoughtfully for a moment "look, tell ya what, since yer frinds of ol' Tyneer here, I'll give ya a break an' cut ya a deal. I don' normally do this, even fer my regulars. as a matter o' fact, I gave ya the same deal I give my regular customers, but how's 20% sound? can't gift wrap it much more than that fer ya"

Other. Dog Boys? Socrates thinks. He turns and looks toward Tyneer. It must be a trap. To get them to know I'm a Dog Boy from the CS, and not some D-Bee. After another second, smiles slyly, and simply returns to the conversation between Duke and Sam. My superiors would be very interested in this report.

Sam sighs with a smirk and shakes her head. ’Gift wrapped, indeed. Next, he’ll be offering me some prime retirement property.’ She glances over to look at Socrates when Tyneer makes his comment, but says nothing, looking back at Duke. She says to Duke, the derision clear in her voice. "Sure. You're just giving us that 'great' price out of the kindness of your heart? I'd wager a few credits you started out at an inflated price and brought it down to your normal asking price just to seem like you're giving us a huge discount. We'll give you 18%." Intelligence: 4% out of 50% pass
