[Duke and Socrates]
The main street of the grubby little crossroads trading ville known as Manson Station were alive with all manner of species. Socrates, who had become seperated from his presumed dead squad, had been taken in by Duke when they had happened acrossed each other's path. Luckily, no one else in town suspected thier coalition ties.
[The squad]
After Cabal and Cannons had departed, Tyneer waited to make sure they weren't again ambushed by Brodkil while the rest of the squad had a meal of stew he had been cooking. Satisfied the others were safely away, he gathered a few things and then once the others were done, he ushered them into his vehicle.
A half hour later, he stopped at the outskirts of Manson Station, and offered a warning as theygot out. " Your kind aren't welcome here, so don't mention anything to do with the coalition in public, unless you want to start trouble. Now Luietenant, where to?"

Socrate was still confused. How could they not have suspected his ties to the CS. He was a Dog Boy, serving that great nation. Sure, he had left his armour behind, since Duke had suggested it would be a give-away, but that doesn't mean they couldn't see him, or smell him. (He could smell them. Yuck.) But he was a part of the amazing, efficient future of humanity, and shaped like a giant walking dog. Those only existed in the CS.
And Duke, look at Duke. While he was human like so many - his sworn charge, after all - He still carried him like a CS soldier, in his walk and airs.
No, these silly disguises wouldn't hide them for long. What would Emperor Prosek do?

Duke parked the Mountaineer nearby where he could keep an eye on it, and made sure it was locked. he gave Socrates a set of his old clothes. not a perfect fit, but close enough. he wouldn't have said anything about the armor, but it still had that "new" and "official" look to it.
more than enough mercs wore knock-offs and old refurbs, usually repainted. maybe if he had just scuffed it up a little. maybe put a couple holes in it, but whatever. too late now. they were here and this boondock hell-hole was the closest thing to civilization on his way to look up ol' man Tyneer at his place up in the hills.
Duke didn't tell Socrates why they really stopped off here as he window shopped for what he was looking for. an SPU-5 sonic pulsar unit. if the mutt was gonna be toolin' around in Duke's ride, he was puttin' one on. he wasn't havin' his Mountaineer infested with fleas, ticks, lice or anything else for that matter.
"c'mon, keep up, an' lose the 'deer caught in the headlight' look. you ain't in Kansas anymore, Toto" he grumbled, mumbling something under his breath about taking in every stray pup and having crossed wires, loose screws or something hardware-related, but it was hard to make out what he was saying.

Biting back the "Sir, yes sir!" He knew would be inappropriate in this setting, Socrates followed into the store, idly scracting at a mosquito bite. He was lucky his fur was so short.
Socrates was very understanding of Duke's upset tones. This place would upset any civilized person. How could someone live here?
His wires weren't crossed, no... maybe they were. His trainers said he got his name because he thinks too much. 'Good for long range work'. He suspected it had to do with not infecting free thought in the other dog boys. He knew that free thought was a threat to the CS, and so had gladly sacrificed himself go on his missions.

Duke browsed casually, occasionally keepin' an eye on his ride out the shop-front window then noticed the saloon across the street. suddenly feelin' mighty thirsty, he decided to step over across the way for some "lubrication".
thinkin' maybe somehow it would wash some of the dust, dirt an' grit out of his systems an' maybe even grab some grub since the MREs were losin' their appeal, he tapped Socrates on the shoulder "wanna try somethin' wet instead o' freeze-dried?"

On the ride into town Rhys, started adopting the mannerisms and posturing of a Merc. Falling into it easily as it was something that he was used to in his line of work. His CP-50 across his lap fiddling with it and adjusting the sighting a bit as they traveled.

"Wet?" Socrates asked. "Like raw? I don't want to make a mess on these clothes. And it would make you ill, si - sure as the sun shines." He added, his gutteral voice making the slurred cover almost a stuttered growl.

"no, 'wet' as in 'something to drink' ... " nodding across the street to the bar "I'm thirsty. how 'bout you?"

"Oh, well, I am somewhat tired of riverwater." Socrates said, hesitantly, looking at the bar. "Though, a raw steak would be nice." He added, smacking his lips.

"whatever it takes, I guess. c'mon, we'll go have some fun. might as well treat ourselves to a little 'R&R' while we're here. enjoy the down time" Duke's large frame turns and makes for the street and the bar

[squad]
Joshua merely looked at Rhys, Sam and Shep waiting for an answer. " We just sit here, and someone is gonna get suspicious. So where to?"
[Duke and Socrates]
No one really paid much attention as the pair entered the Rusty Anvil bar and took a table. A waitress came around after a few minutes. " Hiya boys, what can I get for you?"

"gimme a 'lube job' (the borg special ... lol ... or maybe a 'memory wipe'? 'buffer eraser'?) and a menu, and whatever my friend here wants" looking at Soc "and don't be orderin' no steaks either. I ain't a bank. try a burger" Duke gives the crowd a quick once-over to make sure nobody is looking for trouble or paying them any particular attention

Rhys looks to Sam and Shep, "So Sam whats our plan?" Shifting from cleaning the Rifle to checking his pistol. Looking to Tyneer, "Where's a good place to get some armor?"

Sam says quietly "Let's find a good place to go buy some armour and see if we can't over hear some information on this weapon we're supposed to find."

Rhys nods, "Sounds good." Looking to Tyneer. "So where would be a good place to start on that?"
