Will listened to the others wide eyed, his new bow drawn and an arrow ready to be strung. The mix of languages confused him a little, but he finally added in elven " He's right. Hard to hunt when the prey hears you coming."

Falbera catches up with the group a little late since she was the last to get her new weapons from the smithy.

In elvish she says, "sorry to hold things up. What have we found?"

Lazarus chuckles at Derik's comment about a civil tongue. "I haven't been around nobles much." Responding in Western. Moving to take point and switching to Elven/Dragonese, "Sounds like a plan," Moving into the forest to follow the tracks that the wounded soldier.

(OCC: Tracking needed or are the tracks of the wounded soldier that obvious?)

"Falbera, glad you could make it." he pointed to his wolf, "this is Mekka" he added.

As Mekka and Lazarus track, you all head into the woods, swords of bows drawn.

As you walk through the woods you can see broken branches and more horse tracks with the occasional foot prints, along with one or two pieces of torn clothing that is the colors of the Gent city guards. Making your way through you eventually come to a clearing and to the site of a massacre. You count twenty men including the wizard plus their horses all broken and bloody scattered around the clearing. You see in the middle a few of them tried to make a stand because they were clustered in a circle without their horses.

Upon further inspection you see all of them slain by either a sword, axe or some kind of magic. You also see on the far side of the clearing a fire is starting to burn itself out. within that fire you see a strip of charred grass going about as wide as a man is tall and as long as half the clearing as if it was set deliberately.

So far you find it very hard to find any evidence of the thieves within the battlefield.

What do you do?

Kurff falls silent with a look of concern staying near the Derrik. This was the second time he saw such a scene. it still unnerved him.

He wanted to say something but was unable. kurff calls Meka close and stood with the mage. He didn't quite like dealing with mortality. and it probably showed.

Lazarus searches the body of the Wizard that was leading this group. After that he examines smouldering remains of the fire and what was burned within it. (If possible)

Derik does little with the corpses. They are Grent's concern. "Kurff," He says in Evlish, his tone changing only for tact to the young boy. "Have Meka circle around until she finds a trail." He says.

When the Kurff goes to check things out, and is distracted, Derik proceeds to ensure they are, in fact, corpses.

[kurff]

"right...Meka, track..." he then followed the wolf. the thief was glad to be way from the bodies. The image of village full dead people still strongly burned in his young mind.

It was why he became a thief. He didn't want to hurt anyone...it may have been cowardly. It how was how he felt.

[Dome]

Falbera swears in dwarven as they come upon the scene. She looks around at the death all around them. In elvish she says, "What could have done this?"

[Mierin]

Shalya sighs quietly and looks at Falbera. "Something evil." she says softly. "And we must find it and keep it from doing it again."

[Renekin Skywalker]

Derik looks over at the two women then back to the corpses. Mostly, his intent is to ensure non are simply wounded and non are simply the thieves pretending to be dead.

After Lazarus finishes checking the body of the Wizard that led the soldiers he circles the area looking for tracks that lead away from the clearing. Starting at the side opposite of where the soldiers tracks enter the clearing.

" Even the Coyles back home did anything like this." Will said, his guard dropping the bow a bit. " This wasn't a fight. It was a massacre."

"And we are chasing whatever did this."
