The elf looks at Derik and cocks his head a bit. "What exactly did the Countess say this amulet was to her? Just a trinket? Family heirloom? Something like that?" He asks.

The human see's Shayla come up and smiles. "Ah, another one. How many did Brock say were in this party, Jansis? Seven?" Eric asks.

Lazarus continues to watch the two men letting go of Horace's reins as he leaned against one of the trees on the edge of the clearing not making any threatening moves.

Derik chuckled. "Soldiers." He says. "You only see the narrow path. Fight or be fought... What she told us is she wants it returned to her. She was not specific, exactly, as to how."

kurff stood near Shayla with Meka staying quiet. Trying to keep the pixie somewhat quiet he listened intently.

As Shayla stands there listening to the conversation, she tries to scan the surface thoughts of the elves, trying to find out if they had taken the item in question and where they were keeping it.

In character, Derik waits patiently to see if the soldiers catch on to what he's saying.

Everyone who is at the camp or on their way will see what is transpireing.

The elf looks at Derik and sighs then looks at Eric. Eric looks back at him and says, “Might as well tell them. Not like we have anything to lose.” Jansis nods and clears his throat while looking at Derik. “You have no idea what is happening here.” He then pulls out the amulet.

“We stole this piece for a reason Assassin.” He says, looking at Derik knowingly while holding the piece up.  “This is just one of five pieces of the Eye of the Old Ones.  I know you all have heard myth and rumors’ surrounding it, but this is real.”  He holds the red jewel up for everyone to see.  “This particular one, by itself, happens to have the power to raise the dead.   Which is one of the reasons why the countess wants it back so bad, she’s a necromancer.”  He then puts the jewel back.  “The other reason is that she is a member of one of the death cult’s of the Old Ones.  Her cult already has two of the five pieces of the Eye, they spend thousands of years looking for them, and they have bandits out currently heading up leads looking for the other two as we speak.  They also found information on the whereabouts of the Sword of the Old Ones which is where we are heading now.” 
 
Then Eric steps in and says “If the countess and her cult get’s the rest of the pieces along with the Rune Sword of the Old Ones they can use that power to potentially reawaken the vengeful Old Ones and the world as we know it will be thrown into such chaos that it would pale in comparison to both the Chaos Wars and the Elf/Dwarf wars put together.” 
 
The elf steps forward with his staff, closing the distance with Derik by two steps.  “I will not allow you to take this piece, you my TRY to pry it from my cold dead hand, however others like me, Eric and Brock will take our place and simply get it back again should we fall.” He says with a determined look on his face.

kurff looked suddenly a lot more concerned. being sneaky sure that was fine...He was sneaky by trade...Threaten his friends well.

"Keep it up like that, And YOU will need your friends help..." He thought. glaring putting his hand on a Sword..

"It's quite alright." Derik says, waving an arm in front of Kurff to slow him down. "It is one cult fighting another."

Taking a breath., he says, "I think you still don't get what I'm saying. It can be returned however it is returned, but no-one is saying it must stay there, if it is so important to you. Nor is anyone saying you cannot use it to lure them into leading you to the other items."

Stepping forward, he nudges the Elf's staff out of the way one of the marks of heritage inadvertently (or deliberately? We shall never care) showing under his glove. "All we are paid to do is return the amulet. Any action upon the thieves is dictated by the situation. And threats do not dictate a happy situation."

Kurff - As you step forward the Human, Eric, puts his hand on his sword watching you but saying nothing as you are stopped by Derik.

Derik - As you step forward and try to touch the staff the elf numbly dances back bringing the staff up, "Touching the staff would be VERY bad for your health." He says, then smiles. "And I know exactly what you are saying. However you do not understand what I am trying to tell you. Do you really think that IF you manage to get the jewel and bring it back you will be paid? The last group of adventures that managed to get the jewel back ended up her zombies and are now apart of her growing undead army. Tell me. How much did she offer you? 100,000? 500,000? 1,000,000? Do you really think your going to get your money?" Jansis asked.

Eric starts to chuckle while looking at Derik, "Yeah good luck with that. She'll have you killed as she had other would be employees killed such as youselves. Your not the first and you certainly won't be the last. Do you think you'll be able to get out of her house with her army of undead there to kill you? I don't think so."

The elf says, "And we are not a cult. We are separate from the religion of Dragonwright. How else do you think Danzi is with us?" He says smiling, then the smile disappears. "You are still not taking the jewel. Now we are at an impasse. Your move Assassin." He says still keeping his staff near him.
