*Given that Mariana's a bit ahead of the group, when she sees something (anything, like a dragon, tank, Shep and Mikey drinking, or a rabbit - cursed creatures) she'll crouch and give hand signals to the group behind her to wait where they are, and she'll progress alone to assess the situation before granting an all clear.*

Rhys checking the his CP-50 as well as his CP-30 glares at Mariana's toadie comment, but says nothing. Thinking very evil thoughts at the moment. When everyone starts moving out he clears his thoughts and keeps alert using all his senses as he takes up rear guard.

any sign of the enemy or mariana does a hold sign he focuses his mind on detecting magic or evil in the area.

After nearly an hour, the sounds of voices ahead start to become clear. One of them is easily distinguishable as Shepherd, but the other heavily accented voice is new. Though not arguing, the conversation is less than pleasant.
Shepherd- " Look, it's not my fault!"
Other- " No matter. You broke your promise."
Shepherd- " I took care of it, didn't I?"
Other- " Yes, but the peace has been broken. They must leave."
Shepherd - " Oh for cripes sake, you're being bullheaded. Where are they gonna go?"
Other- " That is your problem. Someone is coming"
As they come into view, Shep is sitting on a stump talking to a tall bald man dressed in a simple robe ( OCC- think the guy from the Mummy). Shep looked up from his conversation and lowered his rifle. "It's okay, they're with me." He told his companion before looking at the others with a disgusted look. " What the hell are you doing here? I told you I'd catch up with you. And where the hell are Mikey and the LT?"

*Mariana looks over at the bald man, then to the others to stand down.* "Mikey and Gantry? Well, Mendez wanted to try and save them. So, odds are, they're already dead."
*Then she pounces on Shep* "How the hell did you think that these idiots could survive on their own? You know Col. Numbnuts already killed one of the people you're supposed to be rescuing? On top of that, where do you get off neglecting any level of authority you could have in this group. Archer's dead, and you let him *thumbs Mendez angrily* presume he's in control when by all rights you're the group commander? Honestly. Whatever plans of yours are ruined now, it's all your own fault."
*Turns to Koor, and holds out her hand, pulling off her helmet with the other.* "I'm Mariana, you must be Koor."

" Kill the attitude, Smith, we don't have time for it. And like it or not, Colonel Mendez has rank. It's up to you and O'Neill to keep him alive so he can do his job." He snapped at her with an authorative tone. " Hold it, back up, who's dead? Mikey?"
The other man looked at Mariana, practically staring through her before turning to Shep. " She knows who I am?"
" So I've got a big mouth, you already knew that." Shepherd replied without turning his gaze from Mariana.

"Ooooh no, you're not pulling that rank crap on me. I've read the Grup structure. It was Archer, then you. Mendez is a camera, not a command officer in this group. You're not backing out of your responsibility. And Salinger's dead. We don't know where Mikey is. Rat ate his ID chip. The good Col. figures your friend here ate him."
*She turns to Koor quickly* "I can also guess what you are. BUt that's neither here nor there. What matters is that our good friend Shep, here, is shirking is work obligations."
*She turns her head to Shep* "You want to know what happened? Ask those four. *points to the others* And as long as you let Mendez think he has control, there isn't a single thing that me or O'Neil or anyone can do to reign him in. Sorry, but you've got to step up to the plate."
*she takes a deep breath* "Now, I found a trail leading to Salinger's body. The rest of you can look for Mikey. I'm going to go do your mission." *She dons her helmet and starts to head back to her shot-down trees*
*If Mendez tells her to stay, her only response will be a particular finger*

Ellie walks over to Mendez "Sir may I see the mini comp again?" When Mendez gives it to her she sits on a near by rock and brings up Mikey's picture and again trys to bring up Gantry's. "Sir" Ellie walks over to Mendez "I'm still having problems bringing up Gantry's picture on this PC. Can you have a look at it and see if you can find one? My knowledge of computers is, to say the least, limited." With that Ellie hands him back to PC and waits to see what he can do with it.

" I can't take command." Shep snapped through gritted teeth, a look in his eyes that there was more to it. " This is your mission, I'm just along for the ride. I was only supposed to play XO until Rhys was up to speed, then step away when we ... , but everything went to hell when he got Archer killed. " A slight smirk tugged at the corner of his lip as he shifted his gaze to Rhys for a moment, then back to Marianna. " And now you're just making things worse. So just shut up, follow orders and quit acting like a spoiled brat."
" What I am? How insulting." Koor replied with an amused look. " And I doubt Cartier is dead. More likely he removed the transmitter himself." He turned, shouting into the forest. " Come out before the Acolytes find you Michael, I'm right here waiting."

*Mariana stops at the trees, takes a calming breath and turns around.*
*And, in a softer voice* "Without any legitimate leadership, people will continue to die. People on this team (her helmet flashes quickly to Rhys) or the people we're supposed to help (a quick look at Mendez, then Shep). Now, if this team is incapable of succeeding at its mission, which it's really beginning to look like, then maybe we should all just go home now."
"Mendez has clearly shown he is unable to effectively lead or control this group. His own inability to make effective decisions has directly resulted in the death of Salinger. He is unfit. If Rhys is the only remaining choice, then fine, I'll except that. Mendez is unsuitable."
*Mariana takes another breath* "Now, we can either sit here and worry about Mikey, or do the job you were sent here to do."
*Mariana waits at the edge of the group for a second, waiting for their response.*
