Ellie looks up with a mornful look upon her. "Sir," she says to Mendez. "Shep is ok.... but Snowball... he.. a... has died," she says in a low tone full of sorrow. "Also Shep seems to be with a woman clad in coalition armor." Ellie pleafully looks to Mendez for instructions on what to do.

Rhys looks to the distant fire fight estimating the distance as best he can and then looks to Col. Mendez. "Sir it's back the way we came and it's a just over a few miles out by my guess." Rhys then starts checking his weapons and making sure that they are all ready to go.

Mikey looked from Colonel Mendez to Rhys and back again. " Sir , I don't believe it. I finally agree with something that came out of the Sergeant's mouth. But if you think we should go take a look, we'd be wasting our time. Whoever it was has picked up and made tracks by now."
The borg stands, brushing past Dyson as he heads towards a long building on the edge of the village. " Now, unless you have other plans, sir," Mikey yawns as he walks away," I'm going to get so shut eye. They've got a guest house we've used a few times before. It's nothing fancy, but it's better than sleeping on the ground in the forest." He turns slightly, smirking over his shoulder. " And Ellie, there's seperate rooms for men and women, so you and Rhys don't have to sleep with the guys."

(Note : Ellie's concentrating soon discovers, much to her embarressment, Gantry is indesposed at the moment, in the outhouse as had told Rhys he would be.)

to ryhs; "Mikey is correct sarge. but i wasnt planning on going after them. i needed to know about how much time we have, to fortify this position. incase we get some bad company. if you come across gantry get him to help. plus, mikey knows the locals. maybe he can help you motivate the natives. feel free to remind the smart ass you out rank him."

Ellie looks the Mendez "Sir, Lt. Gantry is, uhh... fine at the moment," She says with e slight look of embarressment. "I'm going to check out this guest house with Mikey and see how well it can be fortified" Ellie says with more of an intent to find a nice place to sleep.

Dyson in reply to the Col. says "There isn't a lot that we could do in the way suring up the place. I think most of the village's buildings are already re-enforced to withstand an amount of military grade weapons fire, so we can't make them much stronger, unless the villagers and hiding some armor plating. We could lay trip wire around the village to make it harder to sneak around or make a charge, but who makes charges any more except demons, and they're not going to care about trip wire. If it got bad we could hide in the tunnels Rhys and Gantry found, but there might be thing just as bad down there as up here.
I think the villagers probably have a better idea of whats going on than we do, they must have lived through something like this before so we should keep watch what they do.
One last thing, if a force starts coming out of the tree line on one side of the village and we have to run we can have Mikey lay down a continuous stream of bursts from his rail gun along the base of the tree line. It'll knock a lot of trees down and make it difficult for anyone except a juicer, borg or monster to go straight over."

to dyson; " trip wires may hurt the locals. and for now they are classified as friendlies.
to rhys; " well dyson says these buildings can withstand some weapons fire, find a good sniping position. then eat and get some shut eye. keep your helmet and comm on so if there's trouble we can wake you. take dyson and get gantry to do the same.
mendez turns and follows ellie to the house.
