Chapter 5 - Westvale (Everyone Else)

Mikey led the squad along the path, until it reached the outskirts of Daryn's village. He paused turning back to Mendez." You're call, Colonel, but it looks okay from here."

Daryn scoots past Mikey and races into the village, shouting. " Hey mom! Mikey's back and he brought friends!" He looks back with a devish grin as he dissappears amongst the cabin-style dwellings.

Rolling his eyes behind his faceplate, Mikey rose to his full height. " Oops, sorry Colonel. Welcome to Westvale."

[Marcethus]

Rhys enters the village warilly his rifle at the ready as he scans the villages using full multi-optics. He remains alert for any sort of trouble.

[Cabal]

Mendez scans the village checking for armaments and fortifications plus security and possible danger. ;

" ok mikey whats going on? i want a briefing on the entire situation."

"rhys and gantry, look around and see if there is any sign of trouble."

"dyson, try and assertain what tech level these people are at, and give me a report on there capabilities."

"ellie, let me know if you sense anything worth noting."

"Yes, Sir!" Ellie begins to survey the town so she can get an idea of what the surrounding area is like and so she can take a mental picture of the town for later use. She stays near Mendez unless otherwise told.

Mikey shrugs as he faces the Colonel." I can't tell you a whole lot, sir. Patrols been passing through this village since beforeI was transferred to this unit. Shep has something to do with it, and the villagers really have a liking for him, even the D-bees. I asked him why once, but he wouldn't tell me."

(Note- the village consists of about fourty buildings laid out on either side of a stream with a pair of bridges crossing it. the main trail crosses one and branches to cross the other bridge before remerging with the main one at the other side if the village.)

Dyson says "Yes sir" to the Col.'s order and begins to survey the village.

Dyson approaches the nearest building that looks like it was more than a hut or lodge originally, trying to determine if the building are or have components that are pre-rifts. He also notes any vehicles he can spot, particularly if they look armored or have heavy enough chassis to take armor.

As Dyson moves though the village he avoids the people, D-bees especially, as much as possible, stepping out of their way when encountered and not talking to any one. Though if there are any children he will make an effort to see what kind of toys they are playing with, if any.

[Dyson]- After surveying the building, he quickly discovered that the shabby exterior of the building is a facade covering a fairly new MD structure. The only vehicle he notices is a battered Mountaineer ATV tucked behind one of the larger buildngs, but the main trail through the village shows it recieves much more use than this lone vehicle. Despite his best efforts to avoid the villagers, he quickly relizes he has picked up a pair of shadows, a Human boy and a Noli female as he neared the villages source of power, a small hydro generator between the two bridges.

[Ellie]- A quick survey of the town gives her a feeling of mixed emotions towards the squad, mostly relief and distrust. Her quick survey doesn't reveal many surprises, except for the villagers that have come out to see the new visitors. There seems to be many more children then adults, and most adults are women, except for those a few elderly men.

[Mendez]- Before Mendez can question Mikey further, Daryn returns, half dragging his mother by the hand. " See mom, I told you it was Mikey, and he brought some new friends." The woman smiled politely, " Hello Michael, what brings you back to Westvale so soon?" Her tone is polite, but her eyes are clearly searching for something. Mikey turns to the Colonel. " I'll let him explain."

[Rhys] - The pair's prowling about the village comes up empty for trouble despite their best efforts. Gantry turns to Rhys as they walk." So how'd you end up in this... Hey, whats that?" He stops midquestion, pointing at a ringbolt protruding from a flower garden. Stepping into the garden, he knelt down and brushed away some of the earth away from the bolt, revealing a hidden trap hatch. Clearing off the rest of the hidden door, Gantry looked up at Rhys. " You better go get the Colonel."

(GM Note - due to no posting in over a month, I am temporarily assuming control of Gantry as an NPC until further notice)

Ellie notes, in Mendez's mini-comp, what she finds in the town. What the inhabitants are like, the Location of the town, the lack of adult males and anything else note worthy for her report to Mendez later. She will talk to any of the citizens if they aproach her and she also takes off her helmet and clips it to her side as a sign of trust. Her rifle is slung over her back and she has her pistol at her side while she writes in the mini-comp.

Military Etiquette 38%/55% for what maybe note worthy to the Col.
Intelligence 29%/52% to gather information on the town and the people.

Dyson approaches the hydro generator, looking for signs of its age and any insignia that might indicate its maker. he doesn't touch the generator while examining it, knowing how important it would be to him if he were one of the villagers.

As Dyson continues his search of the village, he snatches glances back at the two following him, but he doesn't do anything about them yet.

[Cabal]

The colonel extends a hand to the woman to shake. " Good day mam, I'm colonel Mendez." Mendez pauses for woman to introduce herself. and if she takes hand does a passive medical scan on her. then continues;" We are looking for some missing personel and, would like you to take us to the persons in charge here so we can assertain if anyone in the village has any information that might be useful to us."

[ Mendez]
The woman shakes Mendez's hand. " You're looking at her. My name's Lyna, and I'm the one who tries to keep this village in one piece. Haven't seen whoever your talking about."
Daryn looks up at his mother in puzzlement." But mom, what about.."
She cuts him off, covering the boy's mouth." Those were mercenaries that passed this morning. The Coalition doesn't use Brodkil." She turns her attention back to the Colonel, smiling politely before focusing her attention to Mikey, thingying an eyebrow." Anything other questions I can answer for you , Colonel?"

In the corner of the Colonel's eye, he notices Mikey nod, mouthing the words." He'll be here shortly."

[ Dyson]
The two children snicker and make rude comments just loud enough to be heard as Dyson determined the generator was an old and simple design, but was constructed out of MD components similar to the rest of the village . A rock glances off the back of his armor's shoulder as he hears the girl say " Why can't the dumb deadheads leave us alone."
As the rock ricochets away, he can hear footsteps racing away almost drowned out by giggling.

[Ellie]
Finishing keying in her report, an elderly voice startles Ellie from an open door way in front of her." You silly deadboys and your reports. Nobody cares about Westvale back in ChiTown, and we like it that way." An old human shuffles out and takes a seat on a rickety rocking chair.
(Note- Her rolls determine that this is a by all appearances a simple isolated village with no signs of organized defences to be concerned with)

Mendez looks at the boy and smiles," Thats alright, I'd like to hear all about it young man."

to ellie;"ellie show her the missing personels images."

to the woman;" have you seen these men before?"

[Sensorium]

Dyson, finishing with the generator begins walking over to have a look at the mountaineer. he ignores the rock throwers, but does absent-mindedly try to rub the spot where the rock hit him, as if remembering something far away but related.

[Jon / Bo]

To the elderly person "I'm sure your right sir" noting the fact that they dont want to be noticed "but this report is for my commanding officer not ChiTown." Ellie gets cut-off by Mendez's asking for the photos "Yes Sir" She looks back to the Elderly man/woman (wasn't said before) "Sir/Ma'am " she nods as a sign of her dismisal and runs over the Mendez and the group hes with. "Ma'am this is Private Allison Dramask she's an EOD specialist (I give a brief Bios of the character). This is Private Winston Koch hes a CS Commando (again with a Bios). And last but not least Sergeant Trent Salinger of the Special Forces unit (Bios again). The Sergeant seems to be wandering in the forest injured and the two Privates are being held captive and uninjured." She looks to the Mendez and gives him the "I'll scan the pictures again" look and says "Sir, may I take a few minutes?" After she gives her the ok she asks the Woman "Ma'am do you have a restroom I may use?" If the woman says yes assuming she gets an escort if its the woman maybe the Col. can talk to the boy. If its the boy escorting her maybe she can talk to him.
