Chapter 5 - Westvale (Everyone Else)

Rhys nods and salutes. "Well Lt I found a Swordfist and while tracking him encountered a cloaked woman that said to leave and sensing that I was outnumbered I thought is safer to come back and see if you had returned since when I tried radioing you it didn't work" Holding his rifle against his shoulder as he looks to Gantry.

[ Dyson/ Ellie/ Mendez ]

Dyson's return to his starting point is uneventful, and he finds Ellie and the Colonel out side one of the village homes ( Daryn's ). Before he can report his findings, Mikey's looming figure appeared in the doorway." Colonel, you sure have a way with the ladies. She's too wound up for me to calm her down. we'll have to wait until Shep gets here to do it."

" Well then, let's go check things out." Gantry replies with a brazen tone as he leads the way back to where Rhys encountered the cloaked figure. He looks around at the vacant corridor, trying to find signs of the cloaked figure, but there are none to be found. " Are you sure this is the right place?" He asked, turning to Rhys as he raised his visor and pointed to the dusty floor. " Sergeant, the only fresh tracks here I see are yours. I'll keep looking around, you go get back to the others and fill them in. I'll be right behind you."

With his rifle at the ready, Gantry turned and crept along the corridor.

"I am certain sir" Rhys salutes and turns to move back a ways out of site and watches him for a bit.

(can I see any evidence that the tracks have been tampered with? IE cleaned out? or countertracking?)

Ellie nods in agreement with Mikey "Hopefully he wont be long" She says with a slight worried tone in her voice.

Dyson steps toward the Col., says "Sir" and gives him a report on what he's found in the village, though not his conversation with Keith or the children.

After his report is given Dyson asks "Sir, may I asks whats happened while I was gone?"

After checking a little further down the corridor, Gantry returned to where Rhys was waiting. He raised his facemask as he looked at Rhys with a puzzled look. He pointed the barrel down to the floor, motioning to the layer of dust he was disturbing." No one's been through here in a while, Sergeant, except us. Maybe you should get one of the psi's to check you out topside, because there's no Swordfists or hooded women hiding down that corridor." His condescending tone echoed in the nearly empty passageway as he flipped down his faceshield and moved to the ladder and began to climb to the surface.

Rhys keeps his comments to himself thinking as he follows the Lt ~I know what I saw~ Keeping my rifle at the ready as I picture the first Lt's demise replacing the face with Gantry's.

Lt. Gantry leads Rhys back to the surface. Closing the hatch, the luietenant half chuckles at his companion. " Keep your eyes open in case any of those disappearing people can topside."

After trolling through the village, they spot the rest of the squad. Gantry motions toward them." You go ahead and fill the Colonel in, I've gotta find a latrine before I burst." He heads off in the opposite direction, stopping long enough to ask one of the residents he crossed paths with for directions.

mendez fills everyone in on what the situation is so far. then answers mikey." guess thats why i'm still a virgin." he smiles.

Rhys heads towards Colonel Mendez, once he gets there he salutes. "Sir Gantry and I checked out that hatch we found."
Standing with his rifle in his arm the muzzle against his shoulder. "It appears to be some sort of tunnel complex Gantry and I split up to follow the two sections that led off in opposite directions. After short while, I spotted a Swordfist and went to follow. Encountered a cloaked woman that made a few derrogatory remarks and demanded I left. After finding that radio didn't work I fell back and met up with Gantry he reported nothing other than some supplies we went back the way I came and encountered nothing not even tracks. We then left and came back up."

"good work ryhs." turns to mikey;"what can you tell me about this hatch mikey?"

Mikey shrugs as he takes a seat on the home's doorstep." I don't know sir, this is the first I've ever heard of it. I'd ask inside, but that's not a good idea right now."

He flashes a smirk, then losing it as he rose to his feet and pointed towards flashes against the sky well off in the distance. " Looks like someone is having a party tonight. Glad it's not us."

(Note: Anyone who looks recognizes the flashes as a distant laser fight, more than a few miles away)

Rhys looks in the direction of the flashes of light "Hmm wonder what's going on over there"

[Jon / Bo]

Ellie watches the flashing lights of laser fire in the distance. "Sir," she says to Mendez "I'm going to check on Shep and Snowball to make sure they're alright." With that Ellie takes out the Mini-PC and brings up their pictures on the screen and consentrates on their images.

Mikey snickers as he looks at Rhys, rolling his eyes. " You're kidding, right? Someone is getting the snot knocked out of them is whats going on. Any moron can tell that."

The distant battle climaxes with a series of small, rapid explosions before dwindling out, the slight rumbling barely loud enough to hear.

[Ellie]

After watching the lightshow, Ellie's efforts come up with mixed results. Shepherd seems to be okay, somewheres in the forest and in the company of a woman dressed in CS armor. Snowball on the otherhand, sends a chill down her spine, seeing him lying face down on the shore of a small stream, the downstream flow turning red as it passes his body.
