Dyson leaps back and freezes in horror as Lt. Archer crumples to the ground a few feet from where he was standing.
Shepherds shout brings Dyson back from staring in torpor for what could not have been more than a second at what was Lt. Archer.
Dyson dives for the nearest cover as laser light sears the ground around the squads position.
OOC: I'm not sure where we are in the area where we landed, so could I get a description of where we're standing ( The edge of the clearing that we landed in? Out in the middle of the clearing?).

Rhys stands there not really listening to Archer's attempt at at tirade but as soon as he see's his eyes widen and the bit of blood he dives for cover and starts looking for where the shots are comming from. He has his CP-50 set for burst and is looking through the scope to find the nearest possible target. Once I find the target I open fire at burst setting.

OOC telekinetic force field 30isp, 25MDC (not much but will hold wilks rifles for a round). How far is the hill? And how good is our cover?
The hill runs along to the north of your position and there is broken cover, mainly fallen trees, a few depressions and a couple of large boulders. There is a dry creek bed behind you to the south a short distance from where you are. The hill runs away from you at a low slope (15-20 % incline) for a few thousand yards, though the top is hard to distinguish due to vegetation.

I assume you would have moved away from the clearing when you debarked the helicopter and into the forest. The forest is a mutliple layered canopy, mix of hard and softwood and very old. Think Endor from RoTJ, only the trees aren't as tall and no living teddy bears ;D

The flash you saw came from approximently 2500 yards up the hill amongst a thick clump of small spruce trees. The rest of following fire has come from behind or near cover at various points along the hill. ( 8 different in total)

Shepherd snaps off a few quick shots with his C-14 at their assailants as he snarls " Congratulations O'Neill, you just got the first member of our team killed in record time. I'm impressed, you're even more incompetent than I thought. . " He glances over his shoulder at Mendez for a moment. " Colonel, you've got rank. Looks like it's your show now."

Snowball, senses alert for anything unnatural, takes careful aim at the spot he believes the laser that took out archer came from, waiting for something to shoot.

Rhys pops off a couple more shots to keep the enemy's head down. "Look Trassk it wasn't my fault the Lt was dumb enough to take his helmet off in a combat zone. He should have known better. So If you are looking for Incompetence, it's Archer that had it in spades." His tone of voice showing anger. He keeps an eye out for any more shots from the enemy position

Ellie pops off a couple of bursts at the hill. "Col; permission to make us some cover." She smiles under her Helmet and makes a small fireball in her palm. "It can give us time to get out from under their fire and re-group.

Mendez to archer " I suggest you put your helm.." see archer go down and ducks for cover " take cover!" (ok i need to know where the forrest is in relation to the enemy and what direction the wind is blowing?) " Mikey, Rhys lay down cover fire as we retreat! Ellie make it happen get it as close to the enemy as possible! Snowball grab the LT! Shep get us out of here! Dyson cover Shep!" I follow rhys fire and shoot at the same target. As we all fall back where ever Shep is leading us to.

"Yes Sir" Ellie replys. Her eyes twinkle as she creates a small wall of flame (6' long, 6' high) 30' away and continues to fuel it with psionic engery till it becomes a raging fire. She continues to fuel it untill everyone is moving out.
OOC Pyrokinesis: create flame (20isp), Fuel flame (4isp per... about 5 or so?? 20isp)

Hearing the Col.'s command Dyson Scrabbles to his feet from where he had thrown himself when the first shots were fired. Dyson looks from Shep to the hill and tries to spot the source of any shots aimed at the Sgt..
OOC: In Dyson's judgment how far away is the nearest enemy ( C-27 only has a 1600' range) and would plasma weaponry be likely to start fire if I fired into the forest canopy on the part of the hill that I can hit, assuming it is in the same condition as the forest around us.
