So the one time Castle chooses to act on empathy, it backfires? That's going to be a problem for later on. Alright, soldier, assess the situation. We have no chance of survival in a direct confrontation with Magneto. We don't know what this is all about. This is definitely not his M.O., though; Magneto rarely works with humans. Can we work with that?
"Destroying the card is a mistake; it'll just draw more attention." Cap responded. "Captain Castle was concerned; contacted me to help. Like I said to you earlier; I don't like bullies - I don't care where they're from. Or who they are." He set his face, letting the words sink in. "We could probably keep this up all night - cat and mouse. Or at least, as long as destroying Dr. Stromm's work here amuses Magneto." He looked to Stromm. "He could have stopped this all along, but didn't. Might want to think why that is." Then to Magneto. "So, now that I'm addressing the real leader here, care to tell me what this is all about?"

Magneto stepped into full view, using his magnetic abilities to levitate and lower himself to an inch off the floor. With a wave of his hands, the mechanical army was slowly parted like Moses at the Red Sea, and Magneto floated forward until he was just out of arms reach. "My dear Captain, is that what what you think this is about? Bullying? I can assure you that there are no schoolyard antics involved here. Rather just the opposite."
The mechanical bodied Stromm spoke up from the balcony. "There is your bully, Captain America." He pointed at the picture of Norman Osbourne on the wall. "Stepping on whoever is in his way to get what he wants. And now he wants to become the most powerful man in the state. I asked Magneto for help to stop that. You should want to prevent it too."
"Is he serious?" The Punisher asked in disbelief.
"When a man made of metal is desperate enough to approach someone of my nature for help, you can take them as nothing but serious, Mr. Castle." Magneto replied. "And I must admit, the idea amused me." Magneto smiled

"I've heard things about Osborn from Spider-Man...nothing that can be proven, sadly." Cap set his jaw. "Of course, I'm concerned too. But what is it you have in mind? I can't imagine you're planning on funding some attack ads." He looked around. "Not the right set up. And not your style." He looked to Magneto. "I'm surprised though - I'd think the optics wouldn't suit your cause - one of the world's most powerful mutants attacking a US Senate candidate. Wolverine told me a story about something similar Mystique once tried with Senator Kelly, and how it could have lead to something very bad."

"Ahh, but I am merely an advisor here. The is Mr. Stromm's party, he simply asked me to come and help him with his planning. The last thing anyone wants is to encourage a war between homo sapien and homo superior." Magneto smiled slightly. "Even though it could have some interesting ramifications, like watching you and your Avengers having to stand against Charles' students for the good of mankind, or more likely SHIELD's best interests. Or you Mr. Castle, caught in the middle."
"I'm always in the middle." The Punisher replied flatly.
"Of course you are." Leshnerr nodded. "But if it comforts the two of you, I will not be raising a hand against Mr. Osborn. Yet at least, that may change after the election of course."
"Then what do you get out of all this?"
Magneto did something very uncharacteristic. He shrugged, "Amusement. Much akin to a soldier with a kill them all mentality pairing up with one of the most upstanding soldiers this country has ever known." Magneto smirked as his goading was getting to Castle

"You don't understand the first thing about me if you think I'd oppress mutants; maybe you should ask Pietro or Wanda. Or maybe you should remember what I said earlier; I don't like bullies." Cap shot back to Magneto. He glanced at Castle. "Captain Castle, stand down." he then looked to Stromm. "So, you going to tell us what all of this is all about?"

"Captain, I believe you would do what is right, and it seems to me you and your Avengers may have butted heads with Charles' prodigies a time or two in the past." Magneto merely smiled.
The Punisher did not answer, but a doubled fist was more than enough read the man.
Stromm hesitated, then joined the standoff. "Osbourn can't win the election. He's an evil, evil man. So I'm going to sabotage his campaign. Magneto is a master of manipulation as well as magnetism, and I knew he was coming to New York. I approached him for advice to make my campaign to discredit Norman's campaign."
"A man that is mostly machine asks for my help is placing a fair bit of faith in me, and I was intrigued." Leshnerr smiled.
Frank's eyes narrowed. " and how did he know you were coming to New York?"
Stromm smiled, "Because he almost always shows up when one of the museums around the city has a holocaust exhibit."
"I apparently am predictable." Magneto shrugged. "I can assure you, what I have seen of Mr. Stromm's plans will have little that will affect either of you unless Mr. Osbourn calls in a few heavy hitters to stop the campaign against him."
Stromm nodded.
Castle sighed, and looked at Cap.

"You'll have to excuse me if I'm not reassured." Cap asked back. "You've been talking in circles for a while about how no one but Osborn will get hurt, but offering no details, and I'm not buying, especially after you went to a lot of a trouble to make a production out of your false abduction. Something's not adding up."

"I never would have suspected you were the conspiracy buff, my dear Captain. As I said, Dr. Stromm was a bit overzealous in his cover for our meeting." Magneto responded with a bit of a laugh. "And you know fair well that sharing details with either of you is far from a logical decision for us."
"No one says you have to believe my story. Just do not interfere." Stromm replied.
"That's not what either of us do, " The Punisher replied.
"No, I suppose not. But then all of my creations could provide us with ample distractions."
"All?" Even Magneto was a bit surprised
"None of these are essential to my plans as we discussed and the first step is already underway." Medel replied. "I can build more. The loss of this place would be substantial, but it was not mine in the first place.They have not come looking for their warbots yet, I doubt they ever will."
"So you didn't build all this?" Castle asked.
Stromm laughed, "No. I found it just as you when the security droids on the surface drew my interest. Except I did not destroy anything on the way in. I simply reprogrammed a bit." He laughed. "These were all waiting to carry out plans for someone named Dr. Locke."

Steve sighed and shook his head. "Dr. Locke? I know that name. Congratulations gentlemen, you're stealing from Hydra." He looked to Magneto. "I actually do believe you both may have good intentions, but if you're serious about stopping Osborn, I don't see how picking a fight with Hydra helps. And yes, I'm aware you've can easily handle Strucker and his goons, but one imagines that will complicate your plans considerably. Can you afford to deal with Osborn, Hydra, and the Avengers? I'd reassess whether it's in your best interest to threaten us, or if you'd rather start disclosing matters. I've had about enough of being talked down to."

"We know who the previous owner is, and that he should not be coming calling any time soon. Hydra abandoned this place long before I found it." Gaunt replied.
"I had the same reservations as you." Magneto replied. "But Mendel has shown me a fair amount of evidence that this base was put in place several years ago as a staging point that Hydra has never used. So I do not believe Hydra would be an issue. And I was hoping the Avengers were not going to stand in the way considering Osbourn with political power is the greater threat. Mr. Castle as well for that matter."
"Can't say the idea of Osbourn in charge is appealing." The Punisher scowled, clearly weighing his options. "Captain?"

Cap simply sighs. "You know what? It's been a long night, and I'm tired of being misunderstood. So let me set the record straight."
He straightened up his spine and made sure to lock his gaze on the two men. "I don't want Osborn in power. At all. He's an example of every principle of what I believe in, twisted and broken in the extreme. I don't trust him. But neither of you have given me reason to trust either. You want me to turn a blind eye? What exactly in my history has ever given you the notion that I will or can? So, here are your options; You can either tell me what you have planned and let me decide what we should do about it, you can keep us captive and hope that the rest of the Avengers don't track where my signal dropped off before coming down on you, or you can kill us and get it over with."

"Well, I came to share my wisdom with Mr. Stromm and was to be on my way long before he puts anything into play and without any prying eyes to follow me." Magneto replied. "With that my affairs in New York, and America for that matter, are concluded for the time being. I intend to simply walk away, providing no one wishes to get in my way and find out what my wrath is fully capable of."
Castle gulped, "Cap, what do you say we let Magneto leave, and then we take all these toys apart so he doesn't hurt anyone with his crazy vendetta?"
"No!" Stromm seemed to whine.
"A wonderful suggestion." Magneto smiled.
"NO!"
""I'm no fan of Osborn, but just thinking any collateral will somehow get twisted back to bite us in the ass." Castle suggested. "We could save ourselves a lot of headaches."
"NONONO!" Stromm ranted, "I won't allow it." Across the bay, the whir of machinery coming to life began to fill the air.
"Would you like me to hold the elevator for you?" Magneto offered with a grin. "It has been a pleasure Mendel. I wish you luck in your endeavours." The Master of Magnetism then walked towards the lift, chuckling.

Slightly modified, the still easily recognizable Hydra war machines began to come to life. " You won't stop me.I won't let you." Stromm raved as he raced away, a pair of huge exoskeletons blocking their path to follow and lumbering towards the heroes.
"Cap! Give me back the grenades You have left and then go after Stromm. "The Punisher said as readied his weapons. "He brought them online, maybe he can shut them down too. I'll keep these things off you and take out as many as I can.."

Cap tossed him the grenades. "You stay alive until I get back. That's an order, Marine." Cap took off after Stromm at top speed, shield at the ready.
