Chapter 77: Comings and Goings

Alice nods at Jason as she sits on the edge of the bed. "I understand." Alice replies quietly. "Wraith is a monster and the world would probably be a better place without him in it." Looking over at Jason, Alice continues, "I meant what i said though - if we start killing people, we're just as bad as Wraith is."

"Really?" Jason replied as he brow furrowed. "You do remember what I told you about my early days working with Mac, right?" There was no need for psychic powers to read Jason had taken Alice's statement to heart. "I don't deny what I, or at least the original me, did for our country, but maybe you're right." He said as he sat up on the edge of the bed and started to put his boots back on. "I uh..., think I'm gonna go out for a little bit, clear my head. On second thought, " he tossed the boots and grabbed his flip flops, "Just along the beach should be good I think."

Himari squealed in protest as Isamu carried her back to their room. "They left things just as we had when we left, other than it was cleaned once a week.., oh, and the hole in the wall from the headboard is fixed." Ashley grinned. "I will look after it, I know how much you enjoy this," before taking Himari back and began changing her. "Wraith in the mix is bad news. How did Jason react? Everyone made it home, so I'm assuming nothing happened." As she talked, Ashley demonstrated she was getting fairly proficient at diaper changes, and had Himari redressed in no time as she picked up the little one. "While I dread running into him again, it might be a good thing we came back when we did."

"Oh yes, you so enjoy your research." Beth mocked. "I've got everything I can find on Wraith here and pulled what I could on this Lodestone too. But, I think we should go over it after everyone has a chance to regroup. I have to admit though," she looked Tom in the eyes, "If this Lodestone guy has magnetic powers, I'm worried about you tangling with him. Do you counter one another? Does one of you have an advantage? You've never said anything about someone like. And then Wraith is a whole new level of dangerousto the mix. Can you guys handle them if need be?"

"These are excellent questions, as always, and to be expected given you're a good reporter." Tom flashed a smile to cover his insecurity in providing answers. "But let's do some research, maybe we can find out about Lodestone's upper limits, and then test mine? Sorry, best I got."

Alice nods. "I remember what you told me. Just because that's what the original Jason did doesn't mean that you have to keep doing it." She stands up at the same time as Jason and asks, "Do you want company?" It's clear Alice won't be upset if Jason would rather be by himself.

Sylwia had been silent for some time as if considering what was said. She finally nodded in agreement to the man who was obviously trying to make her feel better. "You are quite correct. I will always need to do what needs to be done!"

[Dome]

Isamu handed things off to Ashley as she made the diaper change, standing close to her. A chagrinned smile on his lips when she mentioned the head board, only to be replaced by a grimace when she brings up Wraith.

"It seems the more things change, the more they stay the same. We thought we were done with him and yet he has returned as if nothing had happened. As for the team, I do not know Ash. They seem to be working well as a unit, I would hate to interject myself too much and cause them to stumble," he says as he reaches out to take Himari into his arms, lifting her up and looking up at her and making a goofy face to try and draw out a laugh before bring her down to cradle her against him.

Pausing to look around the room and then back at Ashley, "it is good to be back though," he says as he reaches out to take her hand and squeezes it gently.

"I suppose we should go see what kind of trouble you can get into," he says with a teasing tone in his voice.
