"We should put him in a hole in the ground." Jason said as he ground his teeth. "His name is Arnold Mears, affectionately referred to as Wraith and one of the most psychotic people you will ever meet. And sooner or later, he'll be a pain in our asses." He looked at Tom, "I'm guessing things didn't pan out with Lodestone?" He asked as one of the SUVs rounded the corner and stopped for them.

Avi shrugged, "Is, you just got back in town, and you already know as much as we do. Let's get out of here before things get any weirder."

As they pulled into the garage, Ashley and little Himari were waiting for them. Ashley took one look at the team members and scowled, "Judging by the looks of those faces, things didn't go so well."
"That's one way to put it." Jason sputtered, getting Tom's chair out of the back for him.
"Beth is up in her workshop pulling together everything she can on Wraith. She's kind of upset because she slipped up over his release." Ashley said. "On a lighter note, Kristian will never offer to watch Himmy by himself again.. He claims he can't wash away the smell of baby puke."

Tom shrugged. "Turns out the hillbilly doesn't want to work with the feds. Look, I'm just trying to figure out what our next step should be. Otherwise? I'm going to check on Beth."

Alice sighs at Jason's comments. "Part of me agrees with you, but we can't straight up murder people. We'd be no better than they are if we started doing that."
When they return to base, Alice gets out of the car and nods at Ashley. "Thanks, Ash. We all need to know what we're up against and it'll help us plan how to capture him and get him put in jail, hopefully permanently."

Sylwia considers the matter over and not having received the orders she had asked about stands down completely. She returns to getting in line and ready to head back to the base but unless talked to stays silent.

Jason was still in a funk by the time they got back to the house, and slipped off as soon as the garage door closed.
Avi patted Isamu on the shoulder, "Welcome back. Like you never left, right? Come on Sylwia, let's get out of here before they try to rope one of us into babysitting duty." The oldest member of the team motioned for the door.
Ashley nodded as the bundle of chaos in her arms saw Isamu and stretched his arms out. "Guess Mom's not good enough? Beth is putting together what she can find on Wraith now, along with this Lodestone, just in case. She's a little in the dumps because she thinks she really let everyone down. Was even grumbling something about having to go back to the paper. Speaking of grumbling, I see Jas took Wraith's return better than anyone."

"You know Jason - always a chipper and upbeat mood." Tom responded as he wheeled away. "I'll go talk to Beth - any idea where she went?"

Sylwia not waiting for the ask follows Avi quickly almost terrified by the thought of sitting on a baby as it would likely injure the baby. But then remembers that there is a reference to the act in one of the books she was reading and that it meant caring for a child more than injuring them which still made her face turn sour as that had almost the same amount of desire to do.

Alice lets Jason storm off, figuring he'd want a moment or two to cool off. She nods at Ashley when she tells them what Beth is doing and replies, "Yeah, he's not happy." When Alice hears about what Beth is doing, she nods and says, "Thanks, Ash." Alice goes to find Beth to see if she needs any help.

"She hasn't left the war room since you guys left." Ashley replied as Tom headed inside, followed by Alice. "Welcome." She replied, as she turned her attention to Isamu.
Avi chuckled as Sylwia followed him quickly. "Not a fan of kids I take it?"

Tom flipped Ashley a thumbs up as he wheeled himself to the War Room. "Hello? Anyone? Bueller?" He looked about for Beth.

Isamu smiles at seeing Ashley and Himari. He takes the baby into his arms and leans in to give Ashley a peck. He makes a mean face at the baby and then fills his cheeks with air and crosses his eyes to make her laugh. When everyone leaves he stops making the face and then says to Ashley, "how do you like being back so far? It feels like things out there are the same. Wraith is back on the streets, by our inaction it seems like we cannot touch him again. It is almost as if we never left."
He moves the baby to his side and puts an arm around Ashley and pulls her close.

"Kids no. Me not really know how to deal with them which is goodly thing as I don't think I can has them. I don't think that is." Sylwia says happy to be away and free of the noise. "They just seem so...not sure I know word that is good here as not wanting to be one of those people that does insults." She shrugs her shoulders not coming up with the word.

Tom found Beth first, and she looked like she welcomed the distraction. "Hiya." She flashed a smile before slipping in to sit on Tom's lap and give him a kiss and slipped her arms around him. "Did things go okay?"
Alice had been forced to take the stairs when Tom got the elevator first. Beth looked up, slightly embarrassingly, but did not get up from Tom's lap. "Hi.. uh, No, I'm Good. Been going over everything about this Wraith guy, and so sorry I didn't warn you. Had no idea so many old records to go through. You guys have been through the wringer with this maniac."

"Chaotic is the best way to describe them." Avi replied with a smirk. "Even worse when they are your own. Been there, done that. And had my fill. Pretty common for metas to not be able, probably part of what keeps the numbers down. But then you get idiots that make science projects like me and Jason to up our numbers." He shook his head. "Anyhow, just let Ashley know you aren't a comfortable around her little twerp and she'll be okay with it."

"You mean other than all the new faces around here? Yeah, sort of." Ashley replied, then tickled Himari, making him squirm in tight to his father. "Please don't tell me you are regretting this and want to go back to Hawaii? Another week and I was gonna lose it on my folks. I swear."

Tom returned the kiss and let it linger for a while. He responded to Beth's question with a shrug. "I don't think we got a new friend out of it, but maybe we got the guy to listen just enough it'll matter in the long run."
Tom looked up at Alice. "Yeah, I don't know the whole story, but from what I recall, Wraith's another one of Jason's old 'friends' - who isn't a friend - and has some semi-official-black-ops cover to let him get away with the fact that he should be in like, ultra-prison, for all the very very bad things he did. Is that about right?"
