"Wait, they gave you a badge? No fair!" Jason laughed as he drove. " You might still be safe, but I'm pretty sure Alice already has that opinion about me, and I'm liable to drag you down with me. Of course you could have stayed back with the others twiddling their thumbs. Have you got a better idea? I'm open to suggestions here."

"Nah. Let's go check it out and probably get into trouble. I'm a writer not a detective." Tom responds, leaning back and pulling out a pair of sunglasses. "So...Agent Jay or Agent Kay?"

"A writer? Maybe I should call you Castle then?" Jason continued to banter as they drove. He then got a puzzled look on his face, " You know that black SUV we passed a while back, I think that might have been Mac. If it was, how long do you figure before we get called back?" While he posed the question, he sped up a bit.
It was not long before they were into heavier traffic. Jason did his best to pick his way through it, but they were definitely being slowed. It was about the same time Tom noticed the same brown van, after several turns, was still behind two vehicles behind them. He caught Jason glancing in his mirror too.

"Oh, Probably quickly. But thankfully I am very slow what with the wheelchair and you're driving." Tom takes a nod. "So, we have a tail. In a tasteless van. Should we deter them?"

"Guess we'll have to turn our band-adios off then, won't we?" Jason replied, watching the van in his mirror. " Can you do anything from here with your powers? I'm going to have a hard time out running them in this traffic without drawing way too much attention to ourselves. And getting out to go say hi is out of the question." He changed lanes, squeezing in passed another car, which the driver did not appreciate.

"Oh geez, you think I should use my magnetic abilities? I mean, it'd be pretty hard, after all it's not like they are moving in a bit metal box OH WAIT." Tom spins his fingers, and the cap of a fire hydrant spins off to knock the pursuing van off the road.

"You know if I wanted sarcasm, I'd talk to myself." Jason replied as he began to push their speed a little bit despite the traffic.
Tom's attempt hindered their pursuers but not in the manner he had planned. The cap struck the car along side their tail, and caused the elderly lady driving to veer away from the impact and crash into the pursuit car heavily. with both lanes blocked and the two cars heavily damaged and going nowheres. Jason waved out the window as the stalled flow of traffic began to disappear behind them.
"A bit unorthodox, but worked nicely." Jason nodded.

Tom leans back in his seat, grinning. "How do you know you aren't talking to yourself? Maybe I'm your Tyler Durden from all your repressed damage and issues coming to the fore? After all, let's look at it objectively - I'm smartassed like you, and I'm in a wheelchair like you used to be, and I have even less respect for government authority than you do. Maybe you're having a schizoid episode you aren't willing to admit to yourself. Have you thought about that?"

"I respect the government, at least the part that pays me every month." Jason replied with a smirk. " And I know I'm not having a whatever you just called a conversation with myself, you use too many big words. Not to mention Beth should not be sharing figments of my imagination, or naming her BOB after them." His smirk grew a bit. "You might have a fancy education Tom, but do yourself a favor and don't try to get into my head unless you want nightmares."

"And you just totally killed the humor" Tom shook his head. "I apologize for being witty instead of po-faced serious. I'll keep it in check for the rest of the trip. So, feel free to continue brooding on your inner pain."

"So he can dish it out, but can't take it." Jason chuckled as he glanced back to see no signs of pursuit.

"I'm not the one who responded to a joke with waving his inner torment and turmoil." Tom shot back as he also looked for trouble.

"uh huh, this coming from the guy who's played the wheelchair card twice since we left." Jason said, giving the mirror another good look. " Think we lost them, nice job. Now to find out." He turned at the last second and accelerated hard, throwing the car into a drift that would make any race car driver jealous. "Hang on, we need to make up some time. " He did not let up as they slid through the next intersection and up the next street. The entire time, Tom could tell that despite the haphazard driving, Jason was in complete control of the car.

Tom nods as he hangs on while Jason drives.

Jason only drove erratically for another four blocks before he slowed to the normal flow of traffic. "There, lost them for sure. Hey, what's with the fingerprints in the dash? My driving isn't that bad."
Overhead, a cessna was losing altitude, a clear sign the small airport was not far
