Chapter 69: Meet the Parents: Hawaii Edition

[dakota]

"Now you're making fun of me." Ashley said once the kiss broke, though she kept her arms around Isamu, " My room has been this colour since I was born, mom wouldn't let me change it. I actually hate pink."

"At least close the door, you two." Grumbled Ashley's father as he passed the the open door.

" Yes Daddy" Ashley replied with a mocking tone, which was answered with a groan.

[Dome]

"I would never make fun of you my love," Isamu says holding her close. When her father walks by he says, "that did not go too bad."

Isamu gives her a peck, "should we go down to the kitchen, your mother is waiting."

[dakota]

"Yeah, we should" Ashley agreed before giving another quick peck and then released him before motioning to the door.

[Dome]

Isamu follows Ashley out of the room and back towards the kitchen where they had last seen her mom.

With her fingers entwined with hers, Ashley led Isamu to the dining room, and found her parents already seated at the table. Dad clearly saw their hands and rolled his eyes, but Mom beckoned them in, " Sit, sit, I just took the pork out of the oven."

[Dome]

Isamu smiles as he enters the kitchen. He looks at her mother and says, "do you require any assistance?"

The idea of more pork didn't necessarily appeal to him. He preferred fish and vegetables, but he would not do anything to upset things. He wouldn't even think about that they had pork at lunch time.

With everyone seated though he holds a chair open for Ashley and helps her slide in, and then seats himself as well.

"Suck up." Ashley muttered with a smirk as she sat down. The meal was pork, but there were plenty of steamed vegetables and salad to fill up his plate. Ashley passed Is a roll, which was extremely heavy for some reason. "Us coming must be a special event. Dad normally only makes his potato bread rolls for holidays."

"With the bread machine, I do it every Sunday now." He grumbled, buttering his own roll.

[Dome]

Now that everyone is seated Isamu looks over everything. He says nothing at first until after the bread conversation. "I want to thank you both for everything you have done. The meal looks delicious. Also I want to say what a privilege it is to be invited to join you at your table. I lost my parents when I was very young and just to be able to gather with Ashley and her parents together, it is truly an honor."

He pauses and says, "regardless if Ashley thinks I am just trying to get in your good graces or not, the reality is I say this from my heart."

[dakota]

Ashley's parents looked at one another, while Ashley's face turned bright red despite she tried to act like what he said was not as profound.

Her mother was the first to speak, reaching over to place a hand on Isamu's, "You are more than welcome at my table, Isamu."

Father grumbled," Good, then he can pass the salt."

"Dad!" Ashley exclaimed," Is that all you can say?"

"The boy wants to sit at our table, then he get treated no better or worse than the rest of the family." Her dad replied " Now eat up before it gets cold." Outside, there was the sound of screeching tires out in front of the house and he sighed," Oh good, your brother must going to join us too."

"Shit" Ashley muttered, causing her mother to look at Ash as she hung her head

[Dome]

Isamu passes the salt down the table. Isamu says, "thank you," to Ashley's mother. Turning towards her father he says, "thank you as well, for treating me as you would anyone else. That is all I wanted."

Isamu who had yet to serve himself any food, allowing the others to go first. When the tire squeal announces her brother's arrival Isamu raises an eyebrow. He leans over towards Ashley, "is this the same brother we encountered earlier?"

[dakota]

"Yup" Ashley said flatly.

Leila Yu spoke up, clearly catching Ash's tone. " You've ran into Alan already?"

"You could say that." Ashley replied.

Her brother walked in, with a fat and split lip. Leila stood right up, looking at her son, " What happened to you?"

"I did. The jerk called Isamu a basuda and took a shot at Jason to try to piss me off. It worked, and I plowed him." Ashley replied, eating nonchalantly.

Alan looked at Isamu, " And you want to be associated with a nutjob like Tita?"

[Dome]

Isamu looks at Alan,stoicly. He then looks at Ashley and his face softens and his loving feeilings can be seen as if one were reading them in a book. He reaches out and takes her hand. He says while still looking at her, "associated with, no. Married too and sharing my life with her daily, absolutely."

He then looks at Alan. His face again going flat, "while I did not understand your words, by her actions to them I can only assume you were trying to incite a reaction, and she was trying to stand up for me. Rest assured if the situation was reversed I would do the same for her."

[dakota]

Alan looked Isamu for a long moment. "Holey shit, you're serious. Are you nuts?" He burst out laughing, grabbing a pair of rolls and exiting while laughing.

" I am gonna kill him." Ashley growled as she rose despite her mother trying to hold her hand down and started after her brother. Ashley's father kept Isamu from following, " Son, there are some fights you cannot fight for her."

Then a strange growl came from the yard. Is knew it, but her parents were not as accustomed to it, " Freddy, that sounded like a bear!" Leila said in fear.

[Dome]

Isamu says, "and there are some fights I must."

He rose quickly, any attempts to slow him would be dodged. He heads for the growl. He doesn't know what he will find when he gets there, but he moves as fast as he can. Once he gets there, he pauses for only a moment and then tries to use his Stun yell and yells out "ASHLEY THAT IS ENOUGH!"

Freddy slowed Isamu very little, but by the time he yelled and then made it to the back yard Ashley was no wheres in sight. A chill ran down Is's back as he spotted Alan, at the far end of the yard, laying in the grass.
