While slowly getting out of the SUV sporting my sawed off I call out "Hi guys and gals we come in peace." "Ya Joe I'll help you out let me just drop my shotgun off." I will hustle over to the waiting party to place my shotgun, hatchet, and crowbar down then run over to help Joe. "What you got for me big guy?" Then will happily take the shotgun when it is offered.

Bernie drove up to the school shaking his head. "Hi, I am a surgeon, and I do not see a medical emergency as your big problem.
"Good zombie defense, but not so much more than anyone else. They need sandbags, foxholes, pigs and pillboxes. If these guys can get Hesco walls and Jersey walls, so much the better. Concrete pavers and sandbags. The least of their problem are zombies," Bernie said aloud. RPG's mortars and even heavy machineguns would shred their pathetic defense.
"Uh, Annie? Tell me you see it, too. We're NOT staying in this death trap, are we?"
He took a swing from a canteen of water. "Any of you's guys sappers? This is a zombie buffet, and if we can shore it up, so much the better. For right now, this is an untenable position, and we need to do our business and move on."
Bernie fumbled in his pocket before fishing out his wallet, and his attention again returned to the guard. He showed a picture of Natalie. "Sorry, is this woman a resident in your camp?"

After dropping off Joe'S shotgun by mine I look at Bernie and ask "What was that about a sapper is that just digging holes in the ground I can do that. "I thought I heard something about concrete also i'm an apprentice mason so I can do some stuff with concrete and other stones of corse but I need to know what you mean... I can try anything you want but won't make any promises about what it looks like." "But now that you say it I could probely use that chain link fence as make shift "rebar" to make a reinforced wall."

"Damn... Damn it." Bernie placed his head in his hands and leaned on the steering wheel. His head shook with anger.
"No, we're not going to stay, but we can't leave them like this. Not in this clusterfuck."
He laughed for about a minute and looked up at Rob. "Congratulations, you just promoted yourself from apprentice mason to head combat engineer. Let me teach you the first rule of the Army.
"Never volunteer for anything. Well, too late now.
"We're not going to get Hesco walls and Jersey barricades, but we can maybe get some sandbags and K-rails from the road department. If you can get a dozer, you can scrape out a ravine, and maybe get enough wood for a palisade. Some punji sticks wouldn't be a bad idea, either. My worry isn't the stenches here. It's going to be the assholes that show up with RPG's and grenade launchers. This is easy looting."
He looked at the people outside the car. "Troublemakers or not, your position sucks, and I think we need our weapons. I'll help you with your sick and wounded, and I think Robbo just volunteered to shore up your defense. Get him what he needs and we'll try to leave you better than we found you."

"We should be able to find some Jersey barricades at a DPW yard sand, gravel, and dirt also unless Arizona here is different then Massachusetts and if your going to QB for me or if your drafting me in to your Version of the Army then I don't think I'm going to be having a chose about volunteering or not.HAHAHA" "These guys might not want this kind of help also so before we stress about their set up lets ask them I understand your not wanting to stay here and I'm find with that." I look at the welcoming committee "Hey do you guys have any blueprint papers or a few sketching pads?"

GM POST
The welcoming party walks over to you, the men clearly sizing you up as they approach. The pale skinned hangs back, you notice that evening the Arizona heat she is wearing a long sleeved shirt and has her arms folded across her chest.
A man in his fifties, of average height but well built for his age, takes the lead. He asks one of his companions to help Big Mac with the arm load of guns he carried out of his rig, the man securing the big machine gun he was carrying. Except for that, the small groups does not take your weapons.
“Good afternoon. My name is Hayden Buckley. I guess you can say I'm the mayor of this town.” He says, smiling at you politely. “I can appreciate you concerns about the state of our town and we'd appreciate any of your ideas how we might improve our situation here.”
He and the two men with him look at Bernie's picture of his wife but say they have not seen her, although one man looks like he does not care for Bernie's assessment of their defenses, but keeps his mouth shut, letting Buckley do the talking.
“Now if you would gather up your firearms and follow me inside, we'll see about getting you settled in.”
The older gentleman turns and leads you inside the school, one of his men walking with you. The other two fall in behind you along with the woman, showing that they are not about to take any chances. Now that you are closer you can see that the outside windows have chain link fencing bolted into place. The moment you walk inside the school cool air washes over you. Apparently the school's central heating and air is still operational.
In the hall way, you are met by trio of two men and another women, these dressed similar uniforms and patches as Sergeant Chapman and just as well armed. They make way for the group and follow behind, as your lead down a short hallway into an empty class room.
Ushering you inside, Buckley gestures to a cart and says, “You can drop you guns there and we'll secure them for the time being. We've had problems in the recent past of folks coming in town and trying to strong arm us for supplies. As I'm sure Sergeant Chapman told you before you drove in your guns will be returned to you once we know we can trust you not to shoot the place up.”
He leans back to let you respond or ask questions. The three men outside with Hayden came into the room with you, but not the Military Policemen, nor the pale women.

Bernie's attention fell on the pale woman. "Your friend back there is a bit overdressed for the desert, isn't she? She wouldn't happen to be half dead, or anything?"
He looked to the woman and smiled. Not a malevolent smile, but with a measure of kindness. "I've heard of this, but never seen someone like her first hand. I don't want to do a necropsy on her or anything, but just talking to her could help me understand whatever we're dealing with."
He placed his firearms and grenades where he was told and gave the one who didn't appreciate his criticism a stern look. "You're worried about five assholes with varmint guns with your elite security. What will you do when 30 swinging dicks show up with real firepower? If we were going to rob you, you'd be robbed. But it's your town and your rules. In the mean time, you might show me to your infirmary."

Bryan stayed by the Rover, and watched things unfold. He didn't know what Bernie or Rob were talking about but it sure seemed important.Getting the gist of it though he wasn't sure he came here to fix the place up.A shower some food and he'd be glad to keep it moving. Ay Buckley's invitation Bryan gets his shotgun out of the car and is lead inside with the rest."Hmm more people with guns"... he says aloud as the trio in uniform join and follow behind them. Hes the last to place his weapons on the cart, "the Sig stays in the holster" as he lays it down. "Youll have to pardon my Friend, last couple months have been shitty for him" Bryan says with a grin to the guy Bernie laid into.

"Hey, come on guys, lets not antagonize each other here." Joe says as he puts his weapons away. Not a good way to make an impression by flying off the handle because someone gave you a dirty look because of an unsolicited opinion.
"I just want to grab some shut eye. I'll earn my keep by fixing anything broken or if you got some heavy machinery be more than happy to drive it for you."
Of course, running driving errands was on the table but Joe wasn't going to encourage till he got a nap and he got a chance to look at some road maps of the area.

Anna stays quiet for the moment, but smirks at Bernie's ranting. 'And HE'S supposed to be the smooth talker of the two of us.' she thinks to herself. She is a bit curious to hear the answer about the women wearing the long sleeved shirt as she places her rifle, sans ammo on the cart.

GM POST
The Frowning man scowls at Byran and says, “Really? Seems like the last couple of months had been shitty for the whole planet. What makes him so fucking special?”
“But to answer your question, Doc, if were attacked by you thirty imaginary assholes with the tanks and nukes, we'll kill them. Like the last bunch that tried that shit with us. And, hey, just so you know, Doc, right now you're standing in the one building that where there are not fucking zombies Most of the buildings surrounding us have been swept and cleared too. Thanks to us. So how about a little gratitude, huh?”
He looked might go on, but Buckley grabs his shoulder and tells him to cool it. Frowning man glares at back at him then exits the room with a muttered curse.
The older man sighs, watching him leave. “Sorry, about that. Gil takes his job seriously here, and like he said the last few months have been pretty crappy.”
He turns to Rob and says, “I'm pretty sure the school has plenty of what you need in the supply room. We moved a lot of the school supplies there when we moved in.”
“Now, unless you have a any questions, I like to go ahead and get you settled in.” He smiles at Big Mac. “You've come a long way and I'm sure you'd like to get something to eat and gets some sleep.”

While putting my shotgun on the cart I look to Buckley "Sleep, food and a shower would be most nice first." "I thought Chapman said he was the only military man here no offense to anyone else." To Bryan "Didn't you hear Bernie earlier never volunteer ha-ha, but thanks for the offer."

Skill Roll: Zombie Lore [dice=100] needs 48/Pass
He gave the guy knuckling up a look that showed he wouldn't back down. He watched "Gil" take a powder, and relaxed considerably.
"Look, I should apologize. I did a tour in the Gaza Strip, and don't have a lot of faith in a wire. I saw a few RPG attacks, suicide bombers and mortar strikes. Not that Zeke carries that kind of hardware... You go a few months living on your gun, you feel kind of naked without it."
He put out his hand to the remaining host.
"I was out of line."
Trust roll [dice=100] needs 45/Pass
"Yeah... A meal sounds good, and I don't mind helping in the kitchen, either. If you have anyone needing immediate treatment, chow can wait."
At that, his eyes sparkled. Anna knew her brother-in-law had something nefarious in mind.
"Bryan? You said you're a bartender, right? You feeling up to a little scrounging? I need as many starchy foods as you can find for me. Whole wheat, potatoes, corn... If that doesn't pan out, fruit will be fine, even if it's fruit from prickly pear cactus. I think I can stake you in a morale-improving enterprise, and it's going to help me out in a big way."
