"A lot of what we may need could be right here," Bernie said to Patty, looking quite thoughtful. "This is a school right? If it's a middle or high school, there will be chemicals, and maybe microscopes. If you can bake bread, we can make penicillin. I'm no pharmacist, but we can make a few simple medicines and compounds to keep around."

Joe enjoy the warm meal of stew and bread, a nice drink help washing it all down. The place wasn't too bad; it was a sight better than a field kitchen in the military, but he wasn't going to complain where the warm food came from right now. The people here seem friendly enough and were working to make a place in this world gone to hell. Joe just had to find a way to help out and not be an extra mouth to feed that didn't contribute anything.
"Like I said, my truck is ready to take anyone into town for a supply run. I'll follow Patty lead in what and how she wants to do it.'
Joe truck was great in getting him to places, or into places, but it still is the biggest zombie attractor in the area. He learn a while back that any running vehicle was a sign to a zombie that the living are nearby and for them to come and kill them. The Dead Wrecker had no problem busting out of small gatherings of undead, granted Joe was happy to oblige the gathering undead by running them over, and getting away.

"That truck of yours looks ready for World War 4, but since my truck and yours both run on diesel, and any gennies people have of any size likely do the same, we might want to think of diesel as a priority, Joe. The nice thing is, every broken-down-lorry," he used the British term again, "is likely packed with a good load or in the trailer behind. Farms stocked diesel for tractors and implements. But can we have enough fuel? I'll let you answer that."
He finished his whiskey and switched to water. A treat was one thing, but in this world, it was never wise to be too impaired.
"Medical supplies, weapons and ammunition are also the priority. If you know where the road department is, I think Rob might be able to shore up the school defenses, and would be well-worth a stop. Well, road department would have a big diesel tank. So would the school bus garage. Both usually have locking gates and big tall fences with razor wire. Do you think this might attract too much attention for one run?"

GM POST
The Hispanic man doesn't bother with shaking Bernie's hand, instead getting up and moving off. Apparently he's had enough of the good natured newcomers.
“I... don't mind. Goth girl seems pretty tame to some of other things... I've been called. And sorry, I'm no much of an artist. Best I can do for you is grab some drawing paper and pencils out of the supply closet so you can work up your ideas to improve our defenses. I'm sure the other will appreciate the help.”
She says to Bernie. “Sorry, you're outta luck there. This was an elementary school before... y'know. All the cool stuff you'd find in a high school is not here.”
She turns to Big Mac as he offers the use of his monster truck. “I appreciate the offer... but I'll have to think about that. I'm used to working... Um, quietly.” She hesitates, trying to pick her words carefully as not to offend you. “I usually pick my van outside of a town and go in on foot doing the day. I usually don't have problems... unless I run into one of the smart zombies, then I usually get out of their. Quick.”
“But... yeah. I can see where you're truck would come in handy, especially getting out some of the big stuff and moving it into town...” She turns away, going back to picking at her food again. She's quiet a moment, listening to Bernie talk about supplies and finding road department.
Finally she says, “I'm going to be heading out of town for a few days. I going to scout of the big towns to the south of Cochise. I'll keep an eye out. If I find something, I'll come back and let you know, and we'll work up a plan to grab it. Hopefully without a lot of trouble. Depends on what the zombies do.”

Bernie withdrew his hand without another word. Some people were angry at the world, and there were a lot of reasons to feel that way. Silently, he wished the man an anal fissure, but paid him no further mind.
"Let us know what you find. You might have better luck in Bisbee, but I defer to your experience in these parts. Maybe you could give us a list of risks and resources, and we could prioritize our objectives."
He pulled out his I-phone and attached a couple of speakers. "Song: Wing of the Lord."
And this began to play.
"We can't leave them like this, Anna. Right now, they need us."

Bryan serves the man his whisky neat, and frowns when he gets up to leave ignoring Bernies handshake."Yeah getting our guns back would be nice." A comment. made more to himself as he wipes down the makeshift bar.Noticing the slightly awkward moment between Joe and Patty he chimes in "park that monster on the edge of town, leave her running and you got one hell of a distraction, heck i bet you could almost pied piper them out of an area." He grabs a bottle and wipes the dust off, looking to the rest of the group he shrugs his shoulders as the music begins to play "just a thought."

Joe looks to Bryan, rubbing his chin, "Hey that is an idea. Lead them out and come back and bowl them over. Messy, but it would sure take a lot of things out.
"I'll be happy to drive whatever van, truck, or whatever you got. I'm pretty good at driving whatever you got and getting it back in one piece. Well, in this case, mostly."
Joe had some ideas how to improve on patty's van while they were here. It wouldn't be pretty but it would sure help her and the rest out for going into zombie infested towns. Then a thought hit him, something that Patty said. Joe probably missed it the first time because of how extraordinarily crazy sounding it was.
"Uh, what's a smart zombie, Patty?"

"Yeah. Don't worry, Rob. I'm not gonna dragging you guys along. Not after you just got here. Go ahead and rest up. I'm sure the is the first time most of you have had the chance to get some sleep without have to sleep with one eye open."
"I don't know about Bisbee, Bernie. That's kinda outta of my way, but I'll think about it if the pickings get slim in the nearby towns. Right now, I'm focusing my runs in the closer towns, like Benson and St. David. I've been avoiding Wilcox because it's a little to close for comfort. You never know when when a stupid zombie might decide to follow after me."
Patty turns to Big Mac. "Lemme how I can explain this. You know that all zombies are stupid, right? Well, this guy... remembers. Like you've got zombies pounding on the door, this thing knows to turn the door knob. Or maybe take the key out of pocket and unlock the door so he and the rest can get at you."
She stops talking, staring at Bernie's Ipod(TM) (;p), thinking back. "My partner, well former partner, we were exploring through St. David and we had a run in with a zombie who used to be a state trooper. He must've died when the zombie rose because he was dressed up in a bloody and torn uniform. I saw him while I was loading up my van, across the street, just standing there staring at me. He didn't moan or anything, just stood there. At the time I thought he was watching me, but I convince myself no he wasn't. Zombies don't watch. He was just standing there like they usually do."
She pauses shaking her head. "I go in and come back out, saw he was gone. I though he moved off on, y'know, to find someone to eat. We got finished and started to drive out of town. We got out of the parking lot and started down the street out of town when we heard a siren. A police siren. I slowed the van down, we started looking around, wondering who the asshole was blaring a siren in town. Then wham! Cop car comes around around a corner slams into the rear of the van, knocking us forward. Frigging air bags went off and knocked us back in out seats"
"We fighting with the air bag when I notice in the mirror that the zombie cop I saw was shambling up along side the van... with fucking gun drawn. No kidding, walking up to the driver side with the gun in a two handed grip, looking down the sights. Fuck." She stops, shaking her head again and rubbing her hands. "I remember seeing that slamming down on the accelerator and jetting off down the street. Zombie cop didn't like that and started shooting at us. He hit the van a few times but nothing to slow us down and we turned a corner out of his line of fire. My partner managed rip that air bag out of the way, I drove like hell to get out of down. Had to dodge a crap load of zombies that were streaming out of the buildings, but since we were moving they couldn't box us in."
She looks at Big Mac and flashes him a small smile. "That monster truck of yours is really starting to grow on me."

Big Mac sat there, with his mouth open after Patty told her story. It is obvious that his mind is on tilt right now. Zombies opening doors, okay, thats easy to remember; zombies going gangster, that was way over his limit of wierd for the day. He closes his mouth and gets up from the table and heads over to the bar. He nods at her comment about the truck growing on her.
"Double jack." He says to the bar tender. He downs a sip from the glass once he gets it, inhales to compose himself and turns back to where she is sitting.
"Seriously?"

"What about Fort Huachuca? Picked clean? I know it was an evac site during the fall, but after they got up, usually they fanned out. We might find supplies, vehicles and weapons. Usually big posts had a hospital..."
He listened to Patty's account of the zombie state trooper. He'd never heard of anything like that before. "Armed zombies driving cars? I'd say it's unbelievable, but after all that's happened, why the hell not? On that note, I think I will have another Maker's. Makes me want to shore up the defenses more than ever."

"I didn't mean it that way Patty. You said you were going scouting that means no rookies with you.We most likely would slow you down and bring the dead heads down on you." "Joe pulling the dead heads to you with your truck might bring in some of those smart zombies and that sounds like it could spell trouble." I get up from my seat to get a water then head back to finish eating.

"I'm curious how zombies react to you Patty. Do they see you as one of us or one of them?" Bernie asked as he sipped his bourbon.

Anna shrugs at Bernie when he says they can't leave. 'They seemed to be doing fine before we got here.' she thinks to herself as she eats, listening to the conversation around her. She does comment "Hospitals may not be very safe, given that a lot of the undead may be there. A lot of people probably went to the hospital at first looking for some kind of cure." Anna raises an eyebrow at the story of a zombie driving a car and shooting at survivors. She has a very hard time believing it, but says nothing out loud. After all, she wasn't there.
