16. In orbit around Earth

On the bridge

Tawfeek called a meeting on the bridge, and already had the nav table up and running. As the lights dimmed, Tawfeek called up an object orbiting Earth.

"This object is a Blastarc, Inc. communications satellite." He began. "This was its orbit last week." he pressed a button, and the arc flung out into space.

"Some boffin at Blastarc hit the slag button on it, without thinking. In effect, this is a salvage claim, first come first serve. We get to it first, we get to resell it. Perfectly legal, if we win the race."

"There are competitors, including Blastarc themselves, so we're setting off, now." Tawfeek added an image for the Galaxy to the display.

"Foreman, I want us there first, Stephens, you and Mensk are roping it in. Questions?"

[kurff]

"Blastarc Inc. do any data erasing as they slag or is the data Core intact?" Mengsk asked. IF there was data it would be a no holds bar and that data could be sold to the competition or better yet used to get leverage. Corporate types were easy to control if you had the right goods.

[Renekin Skywalker]

"I doubt that matters." Tawfeek says. "But we'll get an idea according to the caliber of competitors."

[dakota]

McKenna just sat and listened. she knew for the most part her job was to just stay out of the way unless something went wrong. Luckily she was learning to keep her mouth shut while doing it.

[Dome]

Foreman nods, "I'll get right on it Captain. As long as someone else is taking the spacewalk this time," he says with a smirk before turning to head for the bridge to get the ship moving towards their intended goal.

He pauses, "Mensk, you better get to the engine room and keep an eye on things, I'm going to push the limits. Not redline, but so yellow its orange."

He then turns and heads for his duty station.

[Mierin]

Jessica shakes her head, indicating she doesn't have any questions.

[kurff]

"I'll see to getting some sort of emergency recovery system if I can. A sort of fail safe package to prevent self destruct of that sat by someone else should they not want us to capture it. A counter demolition charge might be nice if we have one too." he nodded and went to engineering.

He also was curious about BlastArc. What they made, did thy have any dirty secrets...the usual stuff. He was probably going to find a few military projects but that common. Military was in cahoots with the corporations for along time now.

[Dome]

Flip pauses on his way to the bridge. He says, "Doctor, why don't you come with me to the bridge. You can pick up some more pointers on flight and give me a hand once we get in closer. Depending on how many other people are after this same satellite, I may need a second set of eyes to monitor sensors and proximity alarms."

[dakota]

"Sure," McKenna replied, caught off guard by the offer. " I mean, unless the captain has other plans for me?"

[Dome]

Flip shrugs, "well, I'll be on the bridge if you want to check in with the Captain first. If he gives you something else to do just let me know," he says before offering her a smile and then continuing on his way to the bridge.

[dakota]

McKenna nodded. " I will." She was already out of her seat and moving for the door while waiting on Tawfeek's answer. Though the chance to be alone with Flip was great since she wanted to talk, just the fact she would be being helpful was reason enough for her smile.

I'ld like to note their alreadiness on the bridge. It's a small matter, but one worth noting, in case people get confused.

On the bridge
Tawfeek gave Mensk and odd look.

"We want to take it alive," he answered, firmly. "No explosives. And you don't get weapons. That's for Stephens and myself. McKenna, you are welcome on the bridge to help with sensors, but remember that you're our doctor."

"Mensk, you are our emergency recovery system, and you only have the tools on the ship. We're not stopping anywhere to stock up." he added. It should be noted that, while not as stocked as an engineering corporation, they do have the basic tools needed to open up, wire cut and tow a satellite.
He looked to Jessica. "No recommendations?"

[kurff]

"I can set a net in the hanger to catch it with a pass then if need to hurry. no explosive involved there", he adds. "And we should have reasonable anti-Demo gear on board I can improvise with. I'll get on that. Should be few spare Detonators I can use to reroute the the sat's Self destruct into a loop and keep it form self-destructing if it gets triggered somehow." Mengsk nodded considering his load out.

[dakota]

"Never forget that one, Captain." McKenna nodded. " If someone gets hurt, or needs fresh greens picked for a salad, I'll resume my primary functions aboard ship." She had to fight back a smirk. " Until then, I'd like to pitch in where I can."

[Dome]

Flip doesn't wait for decisions to be made, before sitting in the pilot seat and beginning pre-flight and setting the coordinates for their next mission. Whether the Captain tells MJ to stay on the bridge and help or sends her away simply so the two cant interact as he has done so often in the past, Flip knows his job is to get the ship moving and on its way to the satellite.
