Ch. 13 Turning the tide

Jason eventually smiles slightly at Alice as he returns the hug, and gives her a peck on the cheek. " Glad to see your all right too." He whispered in her ear. Behind them, Ashley murmured, " I'll give you two some space." And back out of the room.


" Don't get involved Will." Tyler replied sternly, swatting the jabbing finger away. " It's none of your business." After a pause, his eyes narrowed, " No, on second thought, you ought to know. It had nothing to do with how hard headed we get with each other. That moron said I shouldn't have helped him at the hospital because we'd be better off. I've had it with him feeling sorry for himself , or laying the guilt trip on me because of his back and I was letting him know. I wouldn't have hit him, no matter how bad he goads me."

Isamu says nothings as he listens to the last of Will's plan, and the events that followed. Isamu cannot understand how family can fight the way Tyler and Jason do. He cherished his parents when they were with him, and then loved the relationship he still has with his uncle even though he is so far away at the moment. Isamu just sits quietly in the main room and watches all that happens.

Alice nods as she continues to hug Jason. "Yeah, I'm ok. I'm glad you're ok as well." Alice kisses Jason softly on the forehead.

[Renekin Skywalker]

"No, but throwing him around the room is perfectly acceptable, hmm? He totally had you, Tyler, and you can't let that happen. What if someone went for him again? Or Felicia? How can I trust you after a display like that?" And he turns and heads for Jason, without letting Tyler respond to the rhetorical statement.

At the door, he steps in, uninvited. "Well? Can you tell me why you wanted your brother to throw you through a wall?"

" It's between me and Ty. He got his point acrossed. don't worry about it." Jason replied quietly, releasing his hold on Alice. Rubbing his chin, he added, " He thinks it's too soon, and I disagreed, nothing more."


" Dim, can we talk?" Janey voice broke the silence of the kitchen as she entered." Oh , sorry," she said to Isamu, "didn't know anyone else was in here."

A moment later, Ashley returned to the kitchen and sat at table, resting her elbows on it. " Phew. This has to be the most dysfunctional bunch of people I've ever met. guess we could have warned you folks before they brought you in."

Alice stands quietly besides Jason, wondering what William was trying to get Jason to admit to. She wonders if she should stay or leave the room to give them privacy.

"I know that tell, Jason. So be honest. This is no time for lies or games." William answers very firmly.

[Mierin]

Alice looks at Will with a puzzled look. "Tell? What do you mean, William?"

Jason gave Will a ' how do you know' look, he sighed. " He means I've got a bad habit of rubbing my chin when I'm not telling the whole truth. and it means Ashley's got a big mouth because Ty or Felicia wouldn't have told you." He looked at Alice and took a deep breath. " I told Ty that he shouldn't have used his healing power on me in the hospital. He took it the wrong way and thought I meant he should have let me die, but the doctors had me stabilized. If he'd stayed out of it, Mac wouldn't have had to step in and cover for me when the doctors put two and two together and figured out I'm a meta. If he'd left well enough alone, they would have put me back together and never known the difference."

Alice is silent as Jason explains what William was talking about. She recalls Jason rubbing his chin a few times when she'd asked him questions during their date. A mixture of anger and sadness crosses her face and she steps back from Jason, out of his reach. "I can't believe this! How many things have you lied to me about in the last couple of days?" Alice holds back tears as she says "How am I supposed to trust you when you tell half-truths all the time?" Alice starts to back out of the room, and turns around so neither William or Jason could see she'd started to cry. She then runs out of the room and heads to the girl's washroom and locks the door behind her.

" Wait, Alice!" Jason called after her. He glared at Will for a moment, then let out a defeated sigh. " Thanks alot gramps. If you'd wanted me to stay away from her, you could have just asked." He said as he rolled from the room. Because of her headstart, he stopped in the doorway and looked around, unsure where she has gone. He hung his head, speaking lowly." I only did it to try to protect her. Will, if you think it would make things better for everyone, I'll go back to Mac and let you guys do your thing. "

[Renekin Skywalker]

"Oh, so now you think that if you get all depressed and hope no-one likes you than I'll pity you and give you what you want? In case you've not noticed, that doesn't work with me." William says to Jason. "Smarten up, kid. You're stuck here until Mac sees our purpose served. Just like the rest of us." And he heads off. "Until I give the say so, you're stuck here with Tyler and Felicia." He says as he walks on.

[Dome]

"It is quite alright Miss Janey. I will let you talk."

Isamu gets readly to leave as Ashley comes in and sits down in the kitchen. Isamu says,
I'm sorry miss ash... I mean Ashley, I believe these two need some privacy. perhaps we should go to the next room."

Alice spends a few minutes in the bathroom, trying to calm herself down. When she's done that, she splashes water on her face and then dries it. Peeking out of the bathroom, she doesn't see Jason so she heads to the bedroom and tries to find something she can do to try to distract herself (tidying or something like that)
