McKenzie watched with some curiosity and amusement as Lane went through bats. "I never played softball, or baseball for that matter." she comments, reaching out to take one in hand and giving it a little swish. "Not enough physical contact." the pilot adds with a little laugh. "My parents managed to get me on my high school Rugby team. That was pretty fun, even if I had to put up with the odd grope here and there." she added, replacing the bat.
A little further down the alley, McKenzie finds some hockey equipment. "I'm rather surprised to see this here... thats another sport I grew up with though, coming from Alaska and all." she adds, grabbing one of the all-wood sticks and ignoring the composites. "This brings back some memories." she muses, then looks up to Lane. "Not as heavy as a bat, but it can be pretty dangerous in the right hands."
Once they are done in the sporting goods area, McKenzie makes a point of swinging by the electronics area, scooping up and paying for an iPad, an iPhone and a Blackberry, along with some earbuds, batteries and data-sticks.
As they then proceed to the yogurt-and-icecream shop, McKenzie gives Lane a side-long glance. "So, you said were a spook... but I'm more curious about what you were before that." she questions, then gives her head a quick shake. "I didn't have opportune to look at anyones files, so I'm genuinely curious."
Once seated with her banana-chocolate yogurt sunday, she gives Lane a steady look at the question about what she can do. "Ahh, well. I only discovered this in the past six or so months, but I can apparently ... ahh.. how did the nerds put it... change my molecular composition into metal." she finishes, th en gives her head another shake. "If we're using comic-book analogies, I guess sorta-like Colossus, that guy on the X -men."

"My uncle took me to MSG to watch Ranger games. After he was gone, sometimes my dad would take me along, but not as often. I guess hockey's big around here. Sometimes I see the Caps when the Rangers come to town. Ovetchkin's kind of a choker and a big loudmouth... I got $10 that the Blueshirts and Richards will knock them out of the playoffs, that is if they meet."
Lane followed McKenzie to electronics, but had all she needed. She stocked up on batteries for expendables, but that's about it.
In the sweet shop, Lane selected chocolate with coconut, with coconut toppings, a modest chocolate syrup stripe, chocolate shavings and almond slivers.
She sat with Lane and smiled. "Yeah, I guess that's what I am. Before that, I decided to get dual citizenship with Israel. Everyone 18 has to serve national service. I enlisted in the army. Back here, I learned a few uh, unfriendly languages. At first they had me translating phone calls, message boards, that kind of thing... Then they realized I could talk like a native. Suddenly, I was out on the field. I got back, and got recruited by the Langley Boys, and discovered some more of my uh, abilities. Now I'm here, with you, an eccentric boss, a pretty sensible doctor the old guy, and uh, the other one.
"I mean unless you wanna know about me working as a barista. I did that but nothing good ever happened there. And Israel, most of that's pretty black, but I can say I am now a citizen of two nations. I guess I can talk about the basic training and some of my early infantry ops..." She ate a few bites of her yogurt, and chased away the ice cream headache with some Dasani.
"Hmmm, banana chocolate sundae... I have a hypothesis you can tell something about a personality through yogurt and flavor. But the metal? That's pretty interesting too. I think if I watch sometime, I could do it. Be warned. If I do, I may absorb some different aspects of your personality, at least temporarily. We'll see what yogurt I order after I've mimicked you."

Left to her own devices, Julia looks around the store, looking for the things she would purchase for her new job. She also looks for medical equipment that would be easily carried around the field, making a note to ask to see everyone's files so she knows the medical history of each of the team members.

"what, I 'm not good enough company? Everyone else paired off and you ditch me." Xander said as he walked passed the end of the aisle Sullivan was shopping in, pushing a cart loaded up with camo clothing, a couple knives, some bandoleers and mess of tools. "Might as well dump your stuff on top, Randle's picking up the tab. Did you see toolboxes anywheres?" He looked around and lowered his voice," So you're the medic, are you trained or is part of your, " he paused as a pair of locals walked passed," you know, why we got picked?"
While Lane and McKenzie sat enjoying their treat, an obvious pilot sauntered up, taking off his sunglasses and flashing a brazen smile," Hello ladies. you two must be new here. Need a tour of the base?"
Hemmaway was just finishing up her puchases when Simmons got to the counter. From where they stood, Hemmaway could see two of the others enjoying a treat while talking to a local. Simmons on the other hand picked up on a pair of MPs that had stopped in the door way, looking around.
Randle let Forbes finish, " Her skillset made her a good match for the assets we wanted on the team, including her background and her inexperience. Keeping her in line isn't your job, it's what you have Ramirez and Simmons for. You just have to figure out how to keep those two on the straight and narrow, and good luck with that, one's a sniper so they aren't known for being team players and the other one has a history of freelancing." He leaned to rest his elbows on the Hummvee. " Give them one mission to shake down. If you have serious issues, I'll hear them out and if need be, we'll shuffle your team members after a review. But that goes for you two Karl. I had to do some fighting to get you for this team because of your medical charts. All of your official records have already been buried, so anyone who does so research with come up that you're all just tourists with nothing to tip off your real backgrounds."

Forbes rocked himself back and forth gently. Randle knew it was a coping mechanism with stress. "Alright. I think I have a plan to deal with it. There still needs to be a consequence, but I think I can use Article 15 to deal with it. As for keeping them on the straight and narrow... This can be accomplished. As far as the expunging goes? It would make an effective carrot.
"And sir? I know that my intellect comes with certain... Defects. But I thank you for taking a chance on me."

"Oh you're so kind, but my mother said I should never go anywhere with a stranger... Besides, I have to question your tactical judgment. I love pilots and their big jets, but you're in a 2-on-1 engagement. Those dogfights never go well for for lone pilots."
She shot a wink to McKenzie. "Besides, my friend and I won't be staying too long."

Simmons loads his purchases on the counter. Spotting the MP's he looks over at Alex. "Hemmaway, wait for me when your done, we'll go over and join the others," he says motioning to the others with his head. He keeps one eye on the MP's as they look around while he pays for his goods.

Alex does as she was told and tells the clerk to charge it to the aforementioned account, but waits to see exactly what is going on as well as for Simmons.

Julia smirks and shakes her head at Xavier, "Sorry, thought you went your own way like everyone else." Julia places the clothing she's picked so far into the cart and shakes her head, "No, I haven't been by the tool section yet." When Xavier asks if she is trained, Julia nods and replies after the pair of locals have gone by in a quiet tone of voice, "I'm a trained MD, yes, but it's my natural innate abilities that made becoming a doctor feel like a good fit." Glancing over at Xavier, Julia asks, "What about you? What abilities got you tapped?"

Xavier shrugged," I can do corpsman work, but not on myself and can hear freakishly well, but the reason I'm on the team is I'm really good at disappearing." he replied as the other people had stopped within earshot. He waited until neither was looking, then faded out of view, and had then had to stay that way as the other shoppers turned around. One of them glanced at Julia as Xander grumbled a could profanities lowly.
Randle nodded, " I had to fight with a medical advisor to get you cleared for re-assignment, but I feel the same way about you that I do about Hemmaway. You have what the SPIRIT program requires. Just don't prove me wrong, Luietenant. Where did...," Randle noticed the MPs entering the building," what did they do already?" he sighed.
The MPs had waited until Simmons was nearly done with his goods. One stopped by Simmons and Hemmaway while the other approached Lane and MaKenzie and made the same practiced statemenr " This is a civilian restricted area. I need to see ID."
The pilot slinked off.

Simmons raises an eyebrow at the MP. He pulls out his military ID, and says, "the others are with me as well," he says motioning towards the plain clothes ladies, "and we are all with Major Randle. He is outside waiting on us. I'm sure if you speak to him, this will all be cleared up." His manner is respectful and even yet carrying authority.

"Disability and all, I did make Delta, and I do not recall calling you idiotic..." Forbes followed the Major's gaze to the building. "At this pace, I will call the mission a success if we even make the briefing. Let's go pay the bills, and pull Isaacson off of Alexandra..."
He sighed, got out of the vehicle and reached for his lighter, until he saw "No Smoking" printed on the door. The lighter returned to his pocket and he wandered into the PX to see what chaos had broken out. Seeing no signs of destruction, he looked for the most senior MP he could find.

Calmly, Lane smiled, reached slowly for her purse and opened it to reveal an ID portfolio. She selected her CIA credentials and a civilian's military ID. With much of her CIA training on military bases and posts , she had full commissary, Exchange, gym and recreational privileges. Her sidearm bulged only slightly under her jacket.
She looked at the pilot, her victim, slink out at the first sign of trouble and sighed. "Will there be anything else?"

Forbes spotted the two MPs easily enough, one conversing with Simmons, the other with Issacson. He could see everyone else, except Ramirez.
The first MP looked at Simmon's ID, " Base policy is anyone in civilian dress is required to have identification or family passes clearly visible while using base resources. Sorry for the inconvience, Sargeant." He turned his attention to Hemmaway," You have an ID as well, ma'am?"
Issacson got the same speil that Simmons did about the team's unintentional breach of protocol. He returned her card with a nod," Thank you Ma'am, you folks have a good day." They didn't leave the store however.

Julia is impressed seeing Xavier's ability, but says nothing as one of the other shoppers turns to look at her, smiling at her politely. (trust [dice=100], pass). Seeing that Xavier can't become visible again with them there, Julia takes the cart and casually walks to the next empty aisle, figuring Xavier would follow her and then become visible again, grabbing a couple of first aid kits along the way.[rand=369454224117597760760976651216051170300810489771415326430052289555]
