Jeckle will nod the head and then will stand up and stretch slightly. 'yeah . . will do, but i'll be in a burrow too deep for a call to go out. i'll try not to work till dropping . . . ' *her only concession that she knows her limitations now. and pulling a 24+ hour stint is something thats now in the past with her

Three weeks later...
Jeckle is still working on investigating the demons. There is so much information, but Jeckle gets the sense that there are factors that aren't being properly measured and accounted for. She sees Heckle quite a bit, and White seeks her out for their massage sessions.
Kris has explored most of the base. Security seems like it could be good, but the base is so remote and so secret most of the soldiers realize there isn't much point to being paranoid about it.
Heckle catalogues most of the base personnel and there doesn't seem to be much of interest there. The scientists and grad students are smart and bad at keeping secrets, no big surprise. The soldiers and power armor troops are all elite, the best in their respective armies Vietnam and American. They are polite to the civilians, and do their jobs in a disciplined professional way.
The scientists invite Jeckle to the robots for the training session. Apparantly the readings have finally started to get interesting, especially for "Number 9"

Jeckle will have the info on a laptop to look over and will attempt to track down the anomolies . . and in doing so, may discover if there is intentional data loss or data that's just not looked at.
'training session for the robots? . . k . . sure. sounds good to me'

Elsewhere Tiger gives Kris and Heckle a new assignment, "Let's start building an information network. Work on well connected UN officers, soldiers, and the trainers from the other teams. Forget about the high ranking scientists, Jeckle has them covered. And forget the other candidates too. Better the kids make friends with them."
"Drinks, conversation. You can promise them inside info on the testers or other intel in trade. Can you two handle it?"

Khris shrugged," sure, shouldn't be a problem, but what are we looking for? Tigger, so far this place seems like it's on the up and up, so if I don't know what dirty little secrets to fish for, I'm spinning my wheels."

"Excellent," Tiger says to Kris. "If they seem trustworthy then befriend them and trade information. Just because they aren't dangerous or suspicious doesn't mean we don't want to know more about them, and I'm sure they want to know more about us."
"We should find out who we can rely on in case we need to take care of any missions while we are here. I'm sure the other trainers include metas. And we'll want to pool information from the trainers, the scientists and the guards to look for anything usual. The three groups seem somewhat segregated. Got it?"

Jeckle is brought to an observation window overlooking the four robots. The observation window is bristling with sensors on the outside and monitors on the inside. A few techs sit at monitoring stations and the scientists sit or stand in a small gallery.
Each three person team gets a turn inside the robots starting with the Gates team of Veil, Vessel and Merrow, with the motor functions turned off. First they pilot the robots in a virtual reality setting, running, jumping over trees and buildings, wading in rivers. All without ever leaving the base.
Then they concentrate on using the shield fields. All three machines glow, but the scientists are bored with the result. The numbers are nothing special, too weak to stop a bullet much plus and invincible shield.
Their trainers offer encouragement from the observation area, and they and some UN troops supervise the exercise.
Next up is the Egypt team: Dragon, Foxglove and Zee. Again they get some time using their mental pilots skills and then switch to shield work. And again the results aren't very interesting.
The Egyptian trainers use psionics to get a read on their charges before and after the training, but it clearly hasn't given them an edge yet.
The scientists are excited to see "number 9" and Jeckle realizes that number nine must be in the Omega team. Dancer, Rock and Peacemaker show up, with White, Marv, Roan and Tiger as coaches.

Jeckle says nothing and has the glasses reading the kids first. then tries to send to Roan without giving herself away 'scientists are excited about this team. any reason i should know? have you asked for a copy of hte readings? i'll let you know more later . . entering recording mode now'
*she leans back in the chair and observes quietly, just like before. being on the 'readings side' is more exciting to her, because she can use the 'timing' to confer with Roan and the other trainers later. to give the kids a possible edge or not, comes down to timeing

They are here to watch Rock, Roan responds bemused. He is progressing faster than the others right now. Don't worry, they will catch up eventually.
Watching the piloting exercise, Rock isn't much different than Peacemaker or Dancer, but when they get to the shield demonstration there is a clear difference. All the robots glow more or less at one candle power, for all the pilots. Except Rock, he has got at least ten candle power going. Marv and Tiger say encouraging things to him and the field surrounding his machine glows.
The scientists start testing the field with probes. When the probes apply pressure to the faintly glowing machines, they are able to push through the light and touch the robots. But with Rock's machine the glow is able to withstand about 100 foot pounds of pressure before the probe pushes through. Not enough to stop a bullet or anything, but the scientists are still very excited to finally be testing what has been for decades a theoretical shield.

with his new objective in place, Khris headed for the only place he could think of to start, the base bar. Walking in, he quickly scanned the room both with his eyes and his powers, before walking to the bar.

The base bar has the feel of an old officer's club. The bartender is Vietnamese, at the bar sit several hard drinking senior scientists talking loudly about... science. Kris knows from Heckle and Jeckle's intel that these ones are old but not exactly influential.
Away from the main bar are more than a dozen Vietnamese soldiers spread out in groups of three or four.
The place isn't very lively, but there are plenty of prezels and drinks.

Khris spoke no Vietnamese, so he made his way to the bar to order a soda and munch a couple pretzels. He was more listening to conversations for english speaking than anything.

The scientists are speaking english. They have heavy German, Spanish and Russian accents though.
The Vietnamese soldiers also speak some english. Especially when discussing technical topics particular to the base like the American power armor platoon and the project itself. The briefings for these topics are in english and many of the technical terms don't have a great translation.
The bartender asks Kris, "Where ya from?" His english is Ok, if a little loud. Probably used to shouting over bar patrons.

*once the tests are complete and the info is tallied. Jeckle will make her way back with the laptop and type down a summary of the test results broken down into minutes. she will do that for all the teams. the one part of her mind is able to be totally objective and has columns for all three members of each group.
*with it being broken down and then overlaying any vocals from the pilots will it start to cross reference and patch up to get a bigger picture. perhaps its words or comments that trigger an effect? maybe stress or emotions that trigger a response. narrowing it down this way will she be able to have a better overview of it all

"All over." Khris replied despite his accent giving his heritage away. " Here as part of the Omega team. Where I come from, this place should be packed all the time. People gotta unwind sometimes"
