The bartender snorts, "The UN officers are too boring to drink here, though the scientists stop in sometime. These are the regulars, it gets packed on the scientists 'free days'."

*continues with her tables and timelines and will be happy once she's got her information all tabulated and handed off to Roan to examine and double check why Rocky is getting better at certain things.

Khris shrugged," Not the first time I heard that about UN people. Why do you think they like to be called peacekeepers instead of soldiers? Because it sounds boring. So what do people do on this base to unwind then?"

Jeckle's research yields odd results. There are clearly pilots with a higher aptitude than Rock, and others have easily surpassed him in piloting skill.
And all of the pilots seem to be getting plenty of encouragement, though it has no short term impact on shield strength. Rock seems to be progressing at the same rate as the other pilots, he just started out from a higher point somehow. Jeckle is reminded of Rock's breakthrough at the trials. All the other pilots are past that point now, but Rock has simply progressed at the same rate and remains ahead of them. If the pattern holds, the other eight will catch up in a few weeks, but Rock will still be ahead if he continues to improve.

The bartender thinks about it for a moment, "There are bicycle races and foot races in the tunnels. The grad students run down there pretty regularly, and they race about once a week. The guys," he indicates his fellow natives, "race bicycles down there every week or so, as their duties allow."

*her tables and charts finished, she tracks down Roan before heading off for bed.
...o0( Rocky is leaps ahead of hte others. they're catching up, but he will always be first. charts show that they'll catch up to where he is now. maybe you can figure out what he was thinking at these spikes. his is the only one that showed it. cross-references to what the readings inside were showing to the readings outside. only factor is the mental one that i can't slip in. your job. have fun. let me know any more information i can plug in to fill things out fuller ).
*that said, she hands Roan the copy of their team records for her to go over with the team. once she wakes up she will make the same comments to the other teams with a record of their team efforts

" Races?" Khris paused, looking at the bartender. " You're kidding, right? Thats... well, that's kind of lame." He chuckled. " No offense."

*Jeckle wonders if the work she did was of any use to the team trainers. but she realizes, that is NOT her forte. her's is building and making things make sense.
*she lays on the bunk and then passes out, sleeping deeply once again

When Jeckle gives her results to the Egypt team (the coaches of Dragon, Foxglove, and Zee), they welcome her data and share their psychic insights with her - which isn't much additional information other than it isn't Rock's thoughts that are the difference.
The Gates Foundation (Vessel, Veil, and Merrow) team coaches at first refuses to meet with her, but Vessel shoves them out of the way and comes over to talk to her. His eyes seem to contain the soul of someone much older than his physical body, and he says, "What have you found Tinker?" His voice sounds ancient and dark, odd coming from his young man's body. If Jeckle wasn't looking at him she would have imagined a very old man.

The bartender shrugs at Kris, "There is a little gambling there. But if you are expecting wild times... well, there are no nearby villages. Everything brought in has to be approved by the base commander and security and the whole place is under surveillance. Tough to get wild like that, eh?"

'you're making me think of my grandfather for some reason . . ' *faint chuckle at that, then spreads out what she's tracked down second by second with their comments and what they were doing inside.
'what i don't have, is the thoughts you were thinking or how the body reacted. i'm thinking of this like a scientist here. they're not gonna do more than poke and prod and then say 'oh try . . . ' . . me? i wanna know what you were thinking . . how you felt . . what your guts were saying to you. odd huh?'
*sits to listen to inputs and has them on 'record' to input if she falls behind. she's sure she might get more insight from this team. Egypt was rather useless so far and this one actually wants to try to talk to her. she just hopes that she'll get good results when she talks to the omega team trainers. as she said, she's not a 'team' member getting a scoop, she's coming at it from a scientist's point of view. her team will get insights first tho

Vessel nods, "The mind readers from Egypt and your friend struggle. The mind is a factor, and it may be a window, but don't forget that age and quickness are factors too."
He ponders for a moment, "Veil's presence improves all abilities. Yours, mine, Merrow's. But her power has no impact on the shield maker. Age and wisdom are not improved... is agility? Not enough to make a difference."
"Perhaps there is another factor the scientists overlooked. If there is it will be something Veil cannot improve, whatever it is. Is it simply effort? How did Rock get ahead of Dancer and Peacemaker?"
Vessel falls silent for a moment, lost in thought and scratches his face as if he has a bread, though he does not.

Khris nodded. "Yeah, a stick in the mud in charge takes the fun out of things. Not tough though, you just have to get creative. Just really looking to make a few aquatances around the place. I don't have alot to do with the training anymore, so I get alot of free time. Just have to find a way to spend it."

'good questions. new thingsto stress my mind with. thanks for the insight. hope those charts help you and your team. other than that, good job, take care then'
*with a curt nod at Vessel she will turn and leave the Gates Foundation team, she leaves their section and heads for open ground to think. she decides to study what the 3 teams do in their down time. she suspects that the driving factor will be that. or the inner drive to actually suceed.

The bartender nods, "I'm sure someone will think of something eventually..." He offers Kris a refill.
