Jared rubbed his head, then chuckled," Mebbe I misread things. I thought the two of you were on the outs over this missing guy. Man, I can tell now I was way off base.."
The pair soon reached the zoo, but strangely there were very few people around besides them. in fact they were alone, except for one guy by the admission booth. Jared stopped Kitty, taking her by the elbow," Is that guy wearing a kangaroo costume?"
He was indeed.

Kitty doesn't really notice the lack of people around until Jared stops her, pointing out the kangaroo-guy. A frown as she glances around, then focuses back on the other person. "Uh. Maybe... maybe he works for the zoo?" she suggests, uncertainly. "I hope they arn't closed... at this time of day it should be pretty busy."

The kangaroo suited guy didn't notice the pai, and he hopped away from them towards a maintenance shed.
Behind them came a voice," You kids shouldn't be here. Didn't you see the sign? One of the bears escaped it's pen. The zoo is closed until we can catch it." Said a security guard.

Kitty blinks at that, then looks around for the indicated sign. "Uhh.. no, I didn't see a sign." she murmurs, then looks to Jared." Did you see a sign?" she asks him, then looks back to the security guard. "Also.. " she starts, pointing off towards where she last saw the kangaroo. "Is.. that a person in a suit? or a real Kangaroo?"

Jared shoook his head. " There was no sign."
"Well, there's supposed to be." Said the guard, taking both by the shoulders and trying to herd them away, rather roughly. "That was...., just one of the staff, he entertains the kids. Come on, you two have to go."

Kitty glances sideways to Jared, giving her head a slight shake before looking to the guard. "Alright, well I hope the bear can be caught without any trouble.." she replies, temporarily complying with the guard.
"Lets go check out one of the other sites, Jared, and leave them to their bear catching..." she'll then explain to her companion. "Im sure if we look around we can find something interesting..."

As they walk towards the exit, something else catches Kitty's eye. From the cage where the kangaroo costume would have been coming from, a lone figure was watching them be escorted. The primate sat, perched much like a person in the cage, and to Kitty it seemed like it was studying them as they left.
Reaching the gate, the guard pulled the door shut and said," Go on home" before walking away.
Jared waited until he was out of earshot before asking, " Okay, something fishy is going on. How do we get back inside?"

Kitty raises her brows at that, then grins slightly. "I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that." she replies at his words, cocking her head a bit. "Getting in will be the easy part... figuring out what is going on might take a little longer. C'mon, this way!" she then chirps, tugging on his arm lightly, leading him along the wall away from the gate.
Once they have a bit of cover (from bushes or a structure or something.. I've n ever been there, so I have no idea!) she'll stop him. "Alright, keep watch out here, I'll be right back.." she asks, before phasing into the wall. Once there, she'll cautiously poke just her face out from the other side of the wall and take a peek around.

On the otherside of the wall Kitty could see nothing of interest, but then no one was there to spot her either. In the distance through one of the cages, the security guard was letting the strange monkey out of the cage.

Kitty frowns a little, taking another qu ick look around, then draws back through the wall. "Looked pretty quiet.." she murmured to Jared. "Just that guard, and he seemed preoccupied. If we go back through now, we should be able to find some cover.." she adds, grasping his arm and phasing them both, then slipping through the wall, pulling him along behind her.

Once through the wall, Jared looks at Kitty rather impressed. " That was cool," he said lowly, then pointed," Why is our guard friend helping... that's no monkey I've ever seen."
The guard had open the cage and the large primate had walked out, much like a man, and it was clearly giving the guard orders.

Kitty nods quietly to that, crouching behind a bush or some other bit of low cover. "No, but I'm not sure what it is... I saw it watching us on our way out." she replies. Frowning in thought, the young heroine wracks hre brain, trying to remember if any of her or the X-mens past adventures involved intelligent or anthropomorphic animals or anything along this lines.
"I'd like to get a closer look, but there isn't a lot of cover between here and there. Any suggestions?"

"Yeah, get down" Jared said, pushing Kitty behind a bush. They could here voices approaching.
"Just a couple nosy kids. Nothing to worry about, Gibbon."
"So you say. But you were supposed to have the gate s all locked, Grizzly."
"I can't do them all at once. Back off."
"Has Kangaroo gotten ahold of Spot yet?"
"No, he's not answering."
"That blasted Ohnn, I knew when he said he was offered a big score, we..." the voices went out of range. Kitty however caught something from it. This Spot they were talking about was also the one she had overheard Professor X talking to the Logan about when he had first come to ask for help in solving Ghostsabre's disappearance.

Another little frown, jaw tightening with tension, at the mention of Spot. A quick glance to Jared, questioningly. "Gibbon, Grizzly, Ohnn? Any of those names ring a bell?" she asks in a quiet tone. As the voices seem to be getting further away, Kitty peeks up over the top of the bush, looking for a safe way to follow these odd beings.

[OOC: prev post modified, and no, but crazy is a relative term...]
Kitty didn't recognize any on the names or faces, and Jered shrugged, " Not really, but names like that I doubt are high school football nicknames. You acted like you recognized something?"
