Vivian was used to being ignored, though she didn't really like the fact that it happened a lot because people, men in particular, tended to. She does realize that it helps her with her extra-curricular activities. After all, no one would ever expect a woman to do what she did. Using this to her advantage, Vivian tries to get the attention of one of the policeman and points out Avery as she says demurely, "Excuse me, Officer, but it looks like that man is trying to flee the scene of an accident."

(Dark Rider)
You are riding into town, and see multiple police cars along the path. You realize you're going to have to be extra careful if you want to keep your identity concealed.
(The others)
Avery, you hear Viv's statement to the cops as Rex speaks with you. You know full well that regular cops and PIs don't get along well, particularly when the cops are on the take. You're doubly worried when you see Lex - you remember hearing that before the war, there were certain individuals who did the armoring for robbers and bandits - one of the descriptions sounds like an older version of the guy checking out the crashed truck.
The morning crowd is starting to cluster around the scene, as the cops try to hold them back.

Ignoring the others, Lex was more interested in the truck as he moved closer to the front. Though it looked like he was checking the damage, he was actually inspecting the truck. He turned, and caught Avery looking at him and hesitated a second before looking at Caleb, " You must have put some work into this thing. My old girl would have crumpled like a cardboard box on a hit like that, if I could get it going fast enough in the first place." He smirked," Maybe downhill, with a tail wind."

Yonette looks at Avery and Rex talking, then half turns hte face to study Vivian. she looks down again and has a slightly worried frown. maybe she's trying to get Mister Cranston into trouble? . . no probably not, but she's worried.
*no longer being a 'person of interest' and overlooked and dismissed, she eases along the wall so she can keep an eye on Rex and to stay out of the way. she worries that people will speak to her and her understanding will be poor that she will make a mistake in answering

Caleb is more than happy to answer the police officer's questions, though he's not exactly nice about it given their late arrival. He is careful not to push things to the point of getting arrested, but they will doubtlessly take note of his deep displeasure "... yes I *WAS* chasing that car in a farm truck, and the reason why I ws doing it is because none of you guys were around. I prefer not to sit around and watch while people throw dynamite around the city. I'm not going to sit around and watch that happen any more than I was going to let the kaiser do his thing until the germans decided to come to the US".
The last bit tossed in to sound more hickish than he actually is, but also to make the point that he's a war veteran, which might explain why he wasn't as intimidated by explosions and wierd vehicles as a normal person might have been, even if pursueing it might have been stupid.
"Now excuse me, I need to go make a call to get my truck picked up. Maybe instead of asking what everyone here has seen, you might... you know... go look for the actual criminals".
Caleb will tip his hat to Viv as he departs in the direction she mentioned the phone booth is, and make a call to get his truck towed, and a second call to have his people drop another truck off and follow the one getting repaired to the shop, and have the bill for it's repair sent to his office. The trail doubtlessly having gone cold his plan is to try and head in the direction the car went and look for alleyways it might have pulled down. He has some vague thoughts of some kind of secret comparment/door in an alleyway or something (like The Green Hornet, although that character isn't invented until the 1930s).
Caleb isn't a genius but he can be fairly clever in his own way, most alleyways are probably going to have stuff in them like trash cans or whatever, but an alleyway for a car like that to disappear into probably needs to be kept fairly free of obstructions like trash cans and the like. So basically he's looking for an obstruction free alleyway, in what is probably a fairly onoccupied area of street.
Assuming he doesn't find anything suspicious in a quick search he'll question people in the directon the car fled in, since it was making quite an impression doubtlessly, when he gets to a point where people didn't see it go speeding by he'll know he probably went too far, and that will help him narrow down the area it must have disappeared in.
Either way once he has a pretty likely seeming area, he'll pull his truck over somewhere safe, pull his hat down over his eyes and to any observors take a nap. In reality he'll be using Astral Projection. His Astral Form can travel at mach 1 and phase through solid objects, only psychics with the right powers are going to be able to see him apparently (this might include a certain PC if they passing through the target area). Having narrowed things down to a block or two or some likely targets 10 minutes should be enough to scout the area since he's looking for something pretty big (the car). If need be he can activate it more than once though. If his guess is correct about where it went, he should probably be able to find it. If not, he'll have to try something else. If he DOES find it however, he has no immediate plans to go after it right now, he plans to head to wherever it is at night as THE SCARECROW (insert diabolical laughing).
(( OOC-> Sorry about slow response, I'm trying some new medication and have been sleeping a lot recently, probably not going to stay on it for that reason, makes me too tired ))

The Dark Rider considers making his way through the city by using side streets, away from the action. Then his curiosity gets the better of him. It's a sure bet that those cop cars are connected to the sqwak on the police radio. He rides as close to the scene as he dares, then he parks the Scout on the street (hiding it in plain sight, as it were) a few blocks away. He climbs up a fire escape to the roof of a nearby building and uses the rooftop route to get to the scene of the crime.

Yonette steps over to Rex's back and will cover his back. when she can, she will comment quietly to him, 'mud on pants, sir.'
*that done, she will follow him patiently and is, to any observers, a moving living shadowy parcel carrier that says little.

"You seem to know something about what's going on, and at the very least, I would like an explanation for the grilling from earlier, especially since you put some distance between yourself and the police when they arrived."
Nods, replies in Chinese, "Thank you, we'll get it cleaned up shortly."

Vivian watches to see of someone stops Avery after what she had told the police. She realizes she can't do anything in full view of the police, so she stands quietly, doing her best to act the way a proper lady should even if, on the inside, it disgusts her to no end to play that part.

"Heh, buddy, if I knew what was going on I would have skipped this entire bit." He lowers his voice as he continues, "I'm a PI. Me and the badges don't normally get a long too well. I was just doing my part to try and help out if I could."
All the while, Avery attempts to reach out out to Lex and scan his surface thoughts.

Dark Rider, you see the wrecked police cars, and the equally wrecked truck in the alley. (roll Prowl please). There's a lot of back-and-forth going on between various parties.
(everyone else rolls on perception - Vivian has an additional +1 because she's looking for something to do other than play the role of a traditional woman)
The cops are pulling out, clearly more interested in something other than hassling a bunch of "rich know-nothings". The cops smile at Vivian and tilt their hats as they pass her.
Yonette can tell the arguement between Rex and Avery is growing more heated.
Avery, reading Lex's mind, you see he's curious how Caleb's truck was able to take such a beating. He's thinking there's something odd about Caleb.
Caleb, you exit the phone booth to find Lex really eyeing up and inspecting your car, much to your dislike. He even says something to you (see the post above).
Lex, you can tell Caleb's thinking of something - his mind is somewhere else entirely, formulating a plan - or a scam? What could he be up to?
Rex, you can see Avery's attention drifting from you to Lex.

Yonette watches the area as Rex and Avery start to have a more animated/heated arguement. her duty done, she steps back to observe the area about them. she is unsure if hte 'police officers' can be fully trusted, but will show them the respect they deserve. her eyes watch about her now, trying to learn more about the place

As he surveys the chaos below, the Dark Rider remembers some rumors. Rumors about a bakery that's really a front for a mob-controlled weapons shop.
And he sees that bakery below.
All that chaos right in front of a bakery with deep mob connections? Somehow, this doesn't feel like coincidence to the Dark Rider.
He surveys the neighborhood, looking for a quick, easy and most of all subtle access to the bakery.
(OOC: Sorry for the separate postings. I've been wondering about whether or not DR would know about Lex's weapons workshop, and if so, what he might know. I think that knowing this not quite correct rumor is plausible.)
