"That explains quite a bit, but not the fact I have a hunch you know more than you're sharing, sir." [directed at Avery] Avery chuckles, "I'm a P.I. We're supposed to know more than we're sharing." Avery turns his attention away from Lex, focusing now on his time with Rex. "Tell me Mr. Cranston, what does it matter to you?" OOC-> apologies I thought I put a response in with that long post I wrote. Been trying to check in at least once a week, but again I've been sleeping mostly. Will check back the next few days to try and speed it up a bit. Nobody has said anything, but I'm aware that I'm apparently the slowest poster in the group, and I did get a bit ahead of myself with the previous post. - Caleb will have responded to Lex in a fairly gruff and dismissive way as he normally does "It's my mechanics work, I don't tinker with them myelf. The trucks are used for farm work and heavy deliveries, so they are pretty durable, still it wasn't intended for this kind of manuvering, and as you can see I certainly didn't catch that vehicle." If Rex (Yendor) was addressing him after the post, Caleb will respond even more gruffly. "I don't know anything about this paticular situation other than what you see here. As far as the police go, read the goddam papers. My family was killed, and they were even less effective than they were here. I'm worth a lot of money and have called them incompetant in public before. There is no love lost. If you want me to guess what's going on though, I'd say there was probably some kind of German sleeper cell active in the US that built that bloody thing. Probably didn't like the fact that we went overseas, took the guns from quivering french fingers, and kicked their butts, where the rest of europe couldn't. They apparently didn't expect us to get into the war that quickly, but that doesn't mean they didn't have people in place down here. They were making all kinds of wierd vehicles and tanks and things. They probably cranked it out in a garage and turned it loose for some payback" Of course Caleb doesn't REALLY believe that's the origin of the vehicle specifically, but figures if he comes accross as a war nut, it will both explain why he acted the way he did, and discourage these blasted people from asking him more questions so he can proceed as the previous post mention.... though given that he has to wait for the tow guys and a new truck to be delivered he'll be stuck her with the nosy for a bit. Oh, and Caleb's attitude doubtlessly explains why attempts to fix him up with Viv fell into the epic fail catagory, even before his parents were killed he's been the very image of the cantankerous farmer (even if a bit young).

Rex and Lex, you get a gruff response from Caleb, who seems even more grumpy than a farmer twice his age would have a right to be. Rex spots a dark clad figure on the roof.
Avery, you see something out of the corner of you eye up top, but can't quite make it out.
Dark Rider, I'll need you to roll streetwise to see if you can spot an entryway.

[dice=100+4] Streetwise
Not seeing any way in, the Rider decided to come back for the bakery some other time.
The benefits of having a secret identity, I reckon, he thought. Pity that I only have the work clothes I'm wearing.
Which meant he would have to satisfy his curiosity about what was going on down there some other way.
[dice=100+4] Streetwise, this time to see if there's a way to get closer to the action.[rand=02457960215928945676028706878693174086894423529674564649034250472]

lex 's interest perked up at the mention of Germans. " You really think they built that thing?" He got a bit of a look on his face that betrayed his feelings for them (which Vivian would recognize it meant action soon). "Too bad you didn't pile in on top and squash the works of them when you crashed. A few less wouldn't hurt." he added as he walked back from the truck. " I better get back to work. Good day gentleman, ma'am." He winked at Vivian as he passed and started towards the bakery.

Caleb nods to Lex only adding "Well, who else would be making something like that? Officially we never finished and deployed any tanks, and if we had any the military would have them. Something like that had to be built locally, and only a german cell seems likely to have the know-how"
Caleb of course has no idea, and figures gangsters with enough money could have recruited people with the knowlege just as easily, but doesn't want to betray that manner of thinking.

Seeing that look on Lex's face, Vivian suppresses a smirk, knowing that most likely meant they would be hunting tonight. 'Should be fun' she thinks to herself. When Lex starts to head back toward the bakery, Vivian says politely, "If you will all excuse me please, I have to finish my errands and get back home before Mother sends a search party out for me." Vivian then starts to head toward the bakery as well.

Nods, replying in Chinese to her, "True. Tea's always a good idea, and we'll do so after this is settled." Smiles at Avery, "I don't mean anything rude by it, just would like to know what you know with the vehicle crash and what not."

Lex and Vivian re-enter the bakery, knowing they only have a few moments before Lex's sister returns.
Dark Rider, you do see an entryway in the back to the Bakery - it's a door used for supply drop-offs (bags of flour, wheat etc). At the same time, you also see a fire escape that will take you closer to where the others are.
Rex, you can see the Dark clothed man stalking on the roof nearby, but you also see that Avery wants to disengage as soon as possible and Yonette seems to want to stop things from escalating.
Caleb, you sense something odd about the energies withing Avery and Yonette. You also are realize you're going to need leads to find the bandits, and that you have no idea who all these people are except for Vivian and that Avery said he was a PI.

Yonette studies the various people still looking at the truck in the alley. only the 'odd man' as she calls Caleb remains with the officers as she sees the larger man with the apron entering a shop and the woman that tried to get the police to start a problem with her employer or the strange man that talked at her first. she watches that woman enter the bakery shortly after the apron man. then her eyes return to look at Caleb once more. she finds him a difficult cookie to understand, but has decided that if Mister Rex isn't worried about him, she won't be as worried as she is.

Lex waited until Vivian had closed the door. " I don't buy the Germans angle, but I'm definitely going out tonight. I assume I'll have company?"

Avery nods, "I can understand wanting to know more about a crime that happened so close to home, especially a violent one like this." He glances up at the movement that caught his eye, attempting to get a better idea of what it was, "With that being said, please do understand, Mr. Cranston, that you should leave this to law enforcement."
"Now, if you'll excuse me. I do have other matters to attend to. This investigation seems pretty cold to me and I have other cases to worry about. If I get wind of something, I'll let you know if I think it's important."
