You knock over some brushes and make noise, causing some of the patrol posse to hustle in your direction. They've got simple rifles - surplus from the war, if you had to guess.
(Dark Rider)
There's a pair of prints in the soil that seem completely undisturbed, unlike the rest which are smudged by the motion all about.
(Scarecrow)
The black-draped cowboy is getting close to you. You'll have to be very careful or you'll be revealed.
(Vivian)
You hear a lot of rustling - most of it heading in the direction Lex was leading them off in.
(Avery and Rex)
You reach Chinatown, to find that several gangsters are tearing up shops and resteraunts at random - looking more like a drunken mob than organized criminals. A pair of thugs are dragging an old woman out of her resteraunt, and have pulled out daggers, swinging them about to terrify her.

For a heartbeat's length, the Dark Rider considers ignoring the footprints. But they are simply too peculiar.
And then inspiration hits. He rises up, points both his Peacemakers at a point above the undisturbed footprints where a normal-sized man's chest would be, and cocks both hammers.
If I'm wrong, he thinks, I'll look mighty foolish.
"Now, you're a lucky fella, 'cause I don' like killin'. So I'm givin' ya a chance to show yerself and explain yerself. If you get the notion to just pretend you ain't there, lemme tell ya that as soon as those prints down there move or I get bored, I'll pull both of these triggers, and then we'll see what happens."

The Scarecrow is remaining motionless for the moment due to the fact that his invisibility does not dampen sound. Besides, he figures if the black clad cowboy gets that close he can grapple him and figure out who it is. After all ranged combat isn't The Scarecrow's thing. This guy doesn't look like a thug, and he isn't going to get answers if he just guns him down while invisible.  |

Vivian glances at the rustling sound, hoping that Lex is ok. She is puzzled though by Dark Rider and wonders 'Who is he talking to? What did he see that I missed?' Vivian looks around the area again to see if there was something she missed.

I am unclear if he has the guns correctly point at The Scarecrow however, if he does he'll just silently cast Armor Of Ithan (which should handle a couple of bullets). I understand he's aiming at the footprints, but how well he tracked things to that level of accuracy is unknown. Especially seeing as The Scarecrow is kind of standing over a dead body (and heck, maybe they were that guy's footprints) or so is the Scarecrow's logic in remaining silent. Perhaps this cowboy might "figure that out". Hence the comments about waiting for him to get closer, since Mr. Dead Body is right there and an obvious decoy. |

OOC: Doc and I discussed this point, as I was awaiting a GM ruling. IC: While invisible The Scarecrow simply draws his .45 aims it in the direction of the Cowboy and casts armor of Ithan, which causes him to appear. The Cowboy will hear very low, disturbing, lovecraftian chant as he appears. He glowers and says with a low growl in his Scarecrow voice "Leave now before you wind up giving both of us away". |

Lex scowled as he again gave himself away. He knew a shoot out was going to draw anyone else in the area, but getting caught wasn't an option. He backed up until he found some cover, hoping they'd miss him, but otherwise ready for a fight.

You manage to shake off some of your persuers, but you can see they are still searching for you. You can see a barn in the distance, as well as some crudely built shacks that must house some of these gunmen.

Dark Rider and Vivian see a big man shimmer into existence with a pair of .45s pointed at Dark Rider. He wears a burlap mask, looking like, well, a walking scarecrow.

Seeing the newcomer was holding a pair of .45s at Dark Rider, Vivian immediately points her bow armed with the explosive arrow at him. 'Why in the world is this guy dressed up like a scarecrow?' Vivian wonders to herself before saying to the stranger, letting her voice grow cold, "You're going to want to put those away NOW, Mister." As she waits for a response, Vivian also wonders, 'Where in the hell did he come from?'

The Scarecrow simply gives a creepy laugh in response to Viv's comments and doesn't seem even remotely concerned.
"I think your a little out of your league little girl. That's a fancy arrow your aiming at me. So tell me, was it you who was firing explosives into crowds of innocent civilians?
No, probably not, you wouldn't be creeping around out here otherwise. If your looking for the vehicle from the incident earlier today it *IS* indeed in there, but I doubt you want any part of this. Rest assured the threat ends tonight. I'm sure the papers will have something for you to read about it tomorrow".
(( OOC-> The Scarecrow only carries one .45, he doesn't shoot paired pistols. Gunplay isn't actually his thing. Kind of unimportant but I figured I'd mention it )).

Lex waited until his pursuers were passed before getting up for a better look at the buildings. He wanted to make sure there wasn't anyone there watching with a rifle as well that might pick him off on his approach. Especially looked high in the barn windows.

He puts up his best sneer.

He uses telepathy to hit both of the thugs, screaming into their mind as he moves towards them, trying to freak them out.
