streetwise [dice=100], pass /43%
Vivian's eyes widen and an angry muffled 'Mmmph' escapes her as she is grabbed and kissed by the man who had snuck into the back door. She reflexively tries to slap him across the face [dice=20+2] and says in an indignant voice, "I have no idea what you are talking about!" Frowning, Vivian says, "Now unhand me before i yell so loudly everyone within four blocks will hear me!"[rand=4274695380304038367721698922692833141519979619407708590599810239]

"If you're so sure that the two people in the main room aren't buying pastry for Pasty, go ahead," the Rider replies with an amused sparkle in his eyes. (Yes, even if she hits him -- [dice=20] to catch her wrist before she does.) "Like I said, do you really know why they followed y'all here from that chaos out there?"
He chuckles softly.
"And, darlin', you oughtn't try to kid a kidder. No bakery I ever saw needed that much security. But, why don't we wait until your husband's comin' back up from down below? I'm sure he'll love your explanation for why you're consortin' with the enemy."[rand=19523207357502448903909673358534797050579836380812093576638787817]

Avery looks around, making note of any individuals that look like they might be associated with the speakeasy.

Vivian hits the black-clad interloper with the slap. She realizes this is the Dark Rider, a mysterious vigilante who's cut a swath of terror in the underworld - mostly on the outskirts of town.
Lex opens the door to find Viv and DR exchanging a kiss, then Viv slapped him and they are having some words.
Avery, you spot the door man, and his accomplice/partner - this speakeasy enforces its security with a a derelict in the alley who is clutching a concealed shotgun underneath a crate. If an entrant doesn't have the right password, and makes a fuss, well, bad things happen.

[dice=20] Perception
The Rider notices Lex's appearance. He plants another kiss on the woman's mouth, then rushes backwards.
"Later, sweetheart, when your husband's not around. Thanks for everything."
He tips his hat to the woman, then he dashes off, laughing to himself. Or so it seems, because the laughter stops once he is outside. It was just for show.
Once outside, he climbs up the nearest fire escape to the next roof. Once he's sure he's out of sight, he looks for a nice perch from which he can observe the bakery's entrances.
He makes himself as comfortable as he can. He's poked a stick into the hornets's nest. Now comes the difficult part -- the waiting, until the situation he created develops.
A part of him hopes that this really was just a coincidence, though. That girl had spirit, and he really wouldn't mind seeing her again -- even as Matt Cannon, if possible.[rand=702679412500538464133844208040271477276040152105720296592860678042]

Yonettes eyes go wide at the sound of a slap . . then strange laughter. she frowns as she looks toward the back room then back at Rex. she's confused, but once the laughter ends, she steps back and resumes her place watching his back and looking at the other things in the place. she really would like to wander down to Chinatown for some real treats, but knows that she can't go alone yet

Vivian doesn't seem to notice Lex's arrival when she realizes who it is that she is talking to. She is further shocked when he kisses her again and then runs off, laughing to himself.
Vivian is rooted to the spot as what he said seems to reverberate in her brain. What if the accident outside the bakery hadn't been a coincidence? What would that mean? Plus, the dark Rider knew about Lex's extra security. Lex needed to be told about that right away. There were also the customers in the bakery that needed to be taken care of. Planning on telling Lex about her encounter with Dark Rider after the customers were gone, Vivian tries to compose herself before heading back to the store front. As she does this, a thought keeps going through her mind, 'Why did he kiss me?'

"Well Crap" Caleb mutters as he hopes the car didn't actually leave town, as that could make things a bit more complicated. That said he figures he might as well get the unpleasant thing over with and will simply ask a passerby "Howdy, you see a vehicle that looks like [describe vehicle]" if he gets shit he'll just shrug since it's understandable and try and avoid any arguements about farming by sticking to the subject "Well if you did see it, apparently someone in the vehicle was throwing dynamine around back yonder" and see if that raises any concern.

Lex shook his head as he grinned," Are we making new friends? Not sure your mother would approve though." He teased, no idea what really went on.

Vivian frowns at Lex, "That man accosts me and all you do is make jokes?" she snaps, whispering as she is mindful of the customers in the store front. Huffing, Vivian whispers, "I need to talk to you after the customers in the store are gone. It's important!"
With that, Vivian heads back to the storefront and smiles politely at the man and woman who had been waiting for her. "My apologies for the wait. How can I help you?"

Seeing his protogé was clearly upset, Lex knew something was more than met the eyes. Placing the barrel near his countertop, he made sure the back door was closed before intentionally walking passed the doorway to the shop front to see if it was any of their regular customers before setting to mixing up more of the day's order, starting with his father's favorite recipe for sweet bread. As he began mixing ingredients in memorized porportions there was no written recipe for, he listened to the people in the storefront.

Rex smiles politely, body language relaxed, but spring ready. "Yes, we decided on some cakes and tarts for our tea later. I do hope everything's alright in the stockroom. Rats can be such a pain when it comes to bakery inventory."

Lex and Vivian go back up to the front and prepare the order Rex and Yonette have put in.
Dark Rider is back on the rooftops, looking for another clue as to what is going on. He knows he'll have to do some detective work to get an idea of what's going on.
Caleb, you get a cold reception from the farmers you meet. At first, you think it has something to do with your family business. But as you go forward, you see the fear in their eyes when you mention the car - they've seen it, you're certain, and whoever is working on it is very scary indeed.

Vivian represses a smirk at the remark about rats knowing Lex well enough to realize his hackles were probably rising that very second at the insinuation that there would be rats in his families bakery.
Nodding, Vivian agrees, "They certainly can be pests when you are least expecting them." Vivian will get a box and carefully put Rex's and Yonette's selections into it and ties a bow around the box. Handing it to Rex, Vivian tells him the price of the baked goods with a polite smile. "That'll be 75 cents, sir."
