Alice replies telepathically, 'Yes, I know who he is. That's not who he is any more. He's been honest with me about who he was' Alice sips her tea as she adds, 'We should talk more once we are back at your place.'

This is between you and I and your decision to fancy a sodding meta-hunter. You're lucky I don't tell your father and watch him bounce the poor beggar out the door Alexandra replied as she turned to glance out the window.
"Mother, you're doing it, aren't you?" Alice's mother said softly as she came back in to collect the salt and pepper shakers. " Don't do that to Allie, not with her beau here and Evan in the next room."
"We were just have a discussion." Her grandmother said in the same tone.
"Oh." Jan said, looking at her mother and then her daughter, a bit puzzled before returning to the kitchen.

Alice's face is carefully blank as she tells her grandmother 'If that happens, I'm leaving with him' Alice's grandmother can tell from the tone that Alice isn't kidding. 'I know what he used to do. He doesn't want to do that any more and has nightmares because of it. Just leave him alone.'

Are you sure? That boy is so jumbled upstairs, I'm suprised he can walk and talk at the same time Alexandra replied after Alice's mother left the room. Especially his fears of doctors and fish tanks, or whatever that tube thing is..
She puled a pack of cards and dealt out for gin as Alice's father passed through, returning in a moment with a cup of coffee to his seat in front of the television. I'll have to look some more to make sense of it. It's bloody confusing, like some of his memories don't even seem to be his her grandmother added.

'No, Grams.' Alice telepathically replies. 'You're not doing that. If you do, Jason and I will leave and stay in a hotel for the duration of our visit.' Alexandra can tell from Alice's face that she's not bluffing as she sips her tea.

My dear, I could be doing it right now and no one would be the wiser Alexandra said, drawing up a card If it is any consolation, there are all sorts of thoughts floating around inside his melon, most of them rather sortid I dare say. she smirked as she threw away a six.

Jason was just finishing drying the last plate as he looked up to see Alice. Seeing the look on her face, he was suddenly concerned," Alice? what's wrong?"

Alice shakes her head, and says quietly, "I'll tell you later. I'm beginning to think we should stay at a hotel. My grandmother is being incredibly rude."

Jason swallowed. " It's okay, I think I know what she did." He placed his hands on Alice's sides and drew her into his arms. " We knew sooner or later someone would figure things out, and I think I'd sooner have her do it than your dad." He smiled. " Once we get back to her place, I'll tell her whatever she hasn't already fished out of my head." He kissed Alice lightly on the forehead. " I just wish it wasn't so easier for other people to get into my head than I can."

Alice hugs Jason and nods and says quietly. "That's what I told her - that if there were things she wanted to know, she should just ask once we're at her place. Instead she just wants to poke around in your head more, which I told her wasn't acceptable." Alice looks up at Jason and adds, "I told her if she did that, we'd leave and stay in a hotel and she just pointed out she could do it whenever she wanted without anyone being the wiser." Alice pauses, "it upset me."

" Don't worry." Jason comforted. " It will easier to let her do it herself than try to answer questions. Besides, you know what old people are like." He laughed as he let her go, making sure he said it loud enough it could be heard in the other room. "Look, your mom wants me to take your dad down to the pub so he can get to know me beeter. She thinks he'll lighten up a little if I do. Will you be okay here if I do? Only be a couple of hours, your mom claims any more than that and I'll have to carry him home." He smirked, but waited for permission.

Returning the hug, Alice feels a little better, but still worries a bit about how her grandmother was acting. Alice smiles at Jason and says, "That's ok. I hope you have a good time."

" I'll wait until he finishes the news."Jason said, reading Alice. "We'll talk with Grandma first and get things sorted so you can enjoy your visit, okay?" He smiled. "This was supposed to be fun, remember?"

Alice nods and smiles quietly, though it's clear that she still a bit concerned about how things are going to go. "I remember." she says, "I just hope it ends up that way."
