Janxi thought about what Socrates said, comparing the weapons to the Splugorths'. Then she thought about a creep like Socrates himself. Dogpacks using CN-1 net guns to hunt escaped animals. Nets were used by the Splugorth and the CS to capture and recapture slaves.
The Gator Guys were slavers.
She walked over to Shep and helped him to his feet. Using a little feline psychology, she spoke to him loud enough for both him and maybe the barbarian queen to hear. She didn't want to give away too many answers, but she wanted to let the queen know the team was not there to hunt her, and they potentially had a mutual enemy. She behaved as if she was trying to be confidential, but hoped the Queen or her men would hear.
"Shep? What are the chances our objective is in the gator-guys' camp?"

Taking Janxi's hand to get up with a groan, Shep shrugged, " At this point Janxi, I haven't got a clue. I hope not."

Sam replies to the barbarian leader, "My team and I mean you no harm. We are simply passing through." When she sees the smaller barbarian help remove the net that was holding Shep, she says "Thank you for your assistance. It is greatly appreciated." As to the leader's earlier question, Sam replies honestly, "I do not attack beings if they are not attacking me first."
Hearing Janxi's question, Sam replies, "That is a good question." Turning to the barbarian, Sam waits to see if he has something to add to Janxi's question.

Woohoo! Socrates is back to being a bad guy with the cats, even though he hasn't done anything too them! I love it when I get things for not doing anything. ;D
Though, not actually a bad-guy, Socrates continued to sit next to the river. The gun had yet to reveal its owner's secrets, which was fine. These Gatormen were after the lizard men, who had entered the barbarian territory. To Socrates, at least, odds were small. The barbarians, on the other hand, with their CS armour, and regular CS exposure, were more troubling. They'ld come this far only to be back on the fringe of CS turf?
He wanted to check the serial numbers on the armour parts they wore, to see if they came from Sam's brother's troop.
In the meantime, he sat by the river, his senses open.

Tori was proud of Janxi for using her brain. It would take serious supernatural firepower to capture a CS team. Magic slaving weapons fit the profile. The barbarians had piss poor aim, Tori observed, but didn't have much in the way of firepower, short of the magic. She remembered what Abe said about their weapons looking the same. Some were magicked, some weren't. She looked around at the barbarians weapons, attempting to learn what was what.
"Hey Six, would it be ok for me to help their wounded out a little?" She didn't add snoop to her question, but grateful patients had looser tongues than tense warriors.

Janxi watched Socrates with the net guns, and recalled to his boasting on the boat of catching and or killing "strays." Seeing him with the net guns, and Shep victimized with a shot from one made her think of all the cats that heeded the call of the wild. Most of all, she thought about her mother, alone in the wilderness. She had little worry The Demoncat could handle one dog pack, if the CS ever decided it wanted to stop a rogue from killing juicers. She worried more about five dog packs, or 10. Cats were born free, even if cloned in a tube like T-Bone. They choose to stay or leave, choose to serve and choose their friends based on their own desires.
To force them to do anything made for grumpy cats. To retrieve them if they left or force them into service was slavery. Dogs, commandos and slavers who forced this upon anyone, were in Janxi's mind, reprehensible, and yes, creepy. Cats learned only resentment from punishment. It fostered ill will and anger with every encounter. Janxi knew of no cat in any branch of the CS service that condoned slavery and involuntary confinement. Every cat had some level of fear, from small to overwhelming, of net guns—magic or not—, chaser dog packs, muzzles, cattle prods and other cruel methods of confinement. In some, it caused panic. In others, it provoked anger and hatred.
Nobody was back to being the bad guy.
Janxi removed her helmet and covered with her 8-point. Like Tori, she loved her sunglasses. Cat eyes with wide black pupils were wonderful for seeing in the dark. Bright light of day could be a little uncomfortable. She took a nip and slipped her can back into her LBG. She wanted to know more about the gator men. The lizards were no tactical threat, but the gators, in sufficient number, and with the element of surprise, could take down a CS SOG team. Plus, they had the home field advantage.
She knelt beside a body. Socrates said "Demon" but they did not seem powerful enough. They relied on technology rather than natural abilities and learned magic like a true demon like a raksasha. She tried to identify it, and looked for any sort of talisman, insignia or other sign they may be in the service of a true demon. She searched for any sort of clues on the body, maps, documents, or any weapon or object that could be identified. She studied the body, looking for prior signs of bio-regeneration, natural MDC, evidence of consumption of sentient beings and any other sign it could be a true demon. She studied their tracks, to see if they were some sort of hybrid, a d-bee or something else. She sniffed it to see if it was magic, and just how magical it might be.
She looked up at one of the nearby barbarians and scratched lightly behind her pointy feline ear as she spoke. "What the fox are these things?"

After helping out Socrates, Richardson heads back over to the boat to see if there is anything he can do to get it running again.

Once the slaver weapons were collected, and it was all clear, Sorates put an unarmed grenade in the bag. When the coast was clear and everything calmed down, he would blow it up. No sense in causing too much stress, just yet.
Then, he collected the lizard-man gear. He wondered if they had traded for the CS armour (and what CS solder would have traded the armour), and if that was why they showed contempt to him. Otherwise, they were deeply hypocritical, since those armour parts were picked from the dead. Either way, they were liars, or criminals, to have the armour, so he showed to guilt in front of them.

Sam nods at Tori and says "Certainly." Turning back to the leader, Sam says, gesturing to Autumn, "Do you have wounded who require assistance? I have a doctor here and would be happy to help tend to your wounded as thanks for the help you have just provided to my team member."

Tori took a sniff and she found the most broken human. Then she applied first aid.

Janxi looked up from her body as Tori went to work. "Hey T? Just get the ambulatory on their feet, and any non-ambulatory on litters. We need to get outta here before we start attractin' flies." She looked at the carnage around her and thought back to the big spider. Dino vultures were on the corpse pretty quickly. Piles of lizard and gator men would attract scavengers.
"Uh, hey, uh, yer majesty?" she said to the queen. "We can guard yer wounded back to your camp, and can do some horse tradin' of info and supplies. We may need a tow boat, too, cuz our airboat's busted. We'd better git oscar mike before this battlefield's overrun with hungry critters. Nala's pop sent us."

The Barbarian huntress nodded to Sam," My healer was killed by lizardman fire, and you help would be appreciated. We are not far from our village, and you are right, the scavengers will soon come. We can talk more in the village
with his tinkering, Richardson tried the starter and the airboat's fan roared to life with a couple of sputters before the motor was purring
The leader shouted over the engine," Bring your boat around the next bend and up the stream on the right bank. It will bring you to our village."
Tori and Autumn found that most of the wounded either extreme, too far gone or minor. The one Tori started with had a clean wound through his forearm, but he said nothing at he looked strangely at the mutant cat helping him. Around them, the uninjured barbarians were loading thier kin onto litters before Janxi could even suggest it.
Shep offered Socrates an extra grenade as he passed," Good thinking Socrates. Underwater might be your best bet." He continued passed to stop by Sam and Janxi. He nodded to the Barbarian leader as he pulled off his helmet. Once the woman left, he looked at Janxi, "I want you to stay on the Captain while we're dealing with these people, copy?" He glanced at sam as if expecting her to argue.

Socrates nodded to Shep, and took the bag back to the river. "Richardson. Fire in the hole." He called over the helmet coms, waving to warn him.
When the boat was safely away, he armed Shep's grenade, and tossed the whole sack of weapons into the water. "Fire in the Hole!" He yelled, generally, waiting for the inevitable explosion of water and weapons parts.

Tori stayed busy with the wounded when she heard the engine come to life. She knew not to sigh audibly, even in relief, so she continued her first aid. To soothe her nervous patient, she began to purr. "Don't worry, I'm certified to work on anyone with two legs and haven't lost a patient yet. What were those gator men, anyhow?"
As she finished him, she looked around and triaged the remaining wounded.
"Let's get the most seriously wounded on the boat. Santiago? You get a ticket to ride too." She knew many wouldn't make it, but maybe Autumn could help a few along the way or find better facilities back at the Marlins' village. If she took the dead back on the boat, they would at least be home sooner, and the Marlins could maybe avoid attack by scavengers along their short trip home. Maybe a few that were living but beyond hope could say goodbye to the ones they loved. The dead would be honored. She tried to get as many of the ambulatory on the boat as possible, then took her seat in the coxswain's seat.
"Autumn, would you cast us off?"
Once done, Tori proceeded to the village at a conservative pace so no nervous sentries would mistake the "Eve" for an assault.

(Renegade, I'm sorry, but I'd like to countermand your last post, just for the sake of an opportunity for some good RP that might pass by in the space of a time-compressed post. If this is uncool, I'll gladly delete this post.)
"Aye aye, Shep," Janxi said with a nod. "I've got Six's six."
She turned to Socrates as he took the grenade, and saw what he planned to do. "Socrates, you got the wrong tool for the job. Lemmie help ya. Them grenades might send them guns flyin all over tha swamp and not hurt a one of 'em." Her tone was not mocking, rebuking or even critical. She sounded as if she wanted to help.
"Lemmie see them things." If Socrates passed her the bag, she would take it and give him the grenades back. "A fusion block is too much punch for a job like this 'un here."
She took a roll of what appeared to be duct tape from her demo kit. Then she sat beside the collection of confiscated weapons. "Take your det tape or some det cord. Wrap it around the weapon's receiver and through the trigger guard. Then give a wrap around the magazine." Her tone became instructive as she demonstrated a little about EOD to Socrates.
"Once we got one done, we move on to the next weapon, and repeat." She strung all the weapons together. "If we really wanted a big boom, we could daisy chain them grenades in here, but I think the tape is plenty for tha job. Now we attach tha cap, then the detonator and arm it. Then we get to a safe distance and trigger it."
She replaced the weapons in the bag and gave them to Socrates following him to where he wanted to blow it.
When they returned, she watched Tori ride off in the boat converted to an ambulance. Janxi pulled one of her triggers. Hitting the arm switch, a LED told her it was now hot. "Remember, when doing dets, say 'fire in the hole' three times loudly, so everyone knows we ain't just talkin'."
"Fire in the hole! Fire in the hole! Fire in the hole!" Her finger depressed the button on the trigger, and a very controlled explosion shredded the weapons. It wasn't even particularly loud. She powered down her trigger and returned it to her LBG.
"Controlled use of the right kind of explosive can destroy what ya need destroyed, rather than a much louder and less efficient area effect weapon like a grenade. If ya want me to learn ya some more about demo, I'd be glad to."
It was the first thing Janxi had said to Socrates since leaving Abe's cabin. She seemed pretty genuine about it, and a sniffer that had demo and EOD skill would be a valuable member of any service.
She grabbed her rifle to the ready and looked out for any barbarians needing an assist. Then she waited to move out to the village.
